  1. Mistel, where are you from? We say reckon here to. I too have asked myself if I want to go through this, it's kinda scary, A big life change. I am 57 years old and to change my habits will be a big deal. But in my head also I say I can do it. The drinking will be a big deal for me, I'm on 2 different allergy pills and water pills and I get dry mouthed a lot. Hardly enough spit to swallow the food. So that will be my biggest task to cross. Oct 15th I will have all my dr visits done! Yeah, it's getting closer and closer.
  2. Welcome Michelle, on this site you will find your answers to everything you could think to ask Always remember there is never a dumb question.
  3. LainieG, I've not been told anything yet on 2 week liquids. She just said it's looking like Oct27. She told me she would call me back in couple weeks to let me know more.
  4. Yes they cover 80% and my supplemental ins which is Tricare for Life will not cover the 20%. They only cover lap bands and bypass. So I will have to pay the 20% up front on surgery day. Boy they sure want their money, not even a payment plan! I will be calling Medicare on Monday morning.
  5. LainieG, has your surgeons office told you anything about Medicare covering the surgery? Just wondering since my drs office said I don't need a authorization for surgery. Just all my requirements done, as she put it all my ducks in a row.
  6. I received news from my case worker yesterday that Medicare needs no approval. Has anyone else has the sleeve with Medicare as your ins? They gave me a date of Oct 27th for surgery. Just said they send all your paper work in after surgery. I've had to jump through hoops with all that I've done so here's hoping she's right. I don't want to go through the surgery and find I owe the dr and hospital. To be safe I think I'll call medicare myself.
  7. I had my gallbladder removed back in 1978, 57 now and don't miss it lol. My surgeon said he doesn't remove them if they are healthy. If it goes bad then he will deal with it at that time. I too had my appendix out at same time and yes they cut you open pretty big back then.
  8. Just got the call from my case worker with the bariatric center. I have got a temp date woo hoo, Oct 27th. She said for my medicare I don't need ins approval. Just all my ducks in a row, which I'm almost done. Echo , stress test then the surgeons apt 2 weeks before surgery. It's been a great day!
  9. Hi there, I've not had surgery yet but 49 pounds in 8 weeks I can only hope to lose that in a short time. You are doing GREAT! Keep up the good work. I will be getting married couple months after my surgery, I am waiting on getting a wedding dress till then also. Wow 49 pounds 6 weeks you are an inspiration to me!
  10. How about ordering the appetizer, they have 6 huge cold shrimp. I have heard that shrimp is good for you. I love fresh cold shrimp so that will be my go to meal at Red Lobster.
  11. Hi ladies, I just finished my 5th weigh in apt, I have gotten down 8 pounds in 5 months. Next month on the 7th I will have all my visits done I still have a echo and stress test on the 29 th of this month but time is moving right along. I'm so happy today lol!
  12. Hi, yes I have the copd asthma and my lungs are pretty bad. I sleep with O2 every night for past year and half. Had to get clearance from my pulmonary dr for the surgery. Have to see him one more time before surgery to make sure the lungs are clear. He's the one who told me I don't need wls just do it the old fashion way... Does he really think I'd be doing wls if I could lose the weight and keep it off! I too have been off and on the prednisone for years, gotta love that moon face it gives you,NOT! Prednisone is a great medicine, helps my arthritis as well but the side effects are horrible. Good luck to you. quote name="MARILYNMONROE525" post="3597745" timestamp="1410276377"]I recently discontinued prednisone after 5 years of use. Until I switched to my new pulmonologist, I was unable to tapper down any lower than 20 mg. However, since being with him I have gone all the way down to 3 mg. The first time ever. He is the one who suggested the bariatric surgery for me as a tool to improve my breathing being that my lungs will not be pushed up into my rib cage by the fat middle I have accumulated as a result of extended prednisone use. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there that can relate to my story about respiratory problems, prednisone use and having asthma or copd and contemplating this surgery. My surgery is scheduled for 9/30/14. Also, I am scheduled for an EGD. Does everyone have to have this done? Please share. I need to hear from you guys. Thanks.
  13. Call you doctor he can order something for nausea.
  14. Try cutting the broth for water, you might be holding salt from the broth. And salt holds water in your body.
  15. Hi, I cut out all soda's, and candies. Watch what I eat, always leave some on your plate. I've lost 11 pounds just by doing that, oh and walking on treadmill. Good luck, Linda
  16. That's what my surgeon said also. In fact he told me the sleeve would be best for me.
  17. Good luck halloweenbaby24. Can't wait to read your updates!
  18. I have acid reflux really bad, also a hiatal hernia that he will fix during my sleeve. Yes I'm getting a sleeve with acid reflux. Wondering why you can't or some drs won't do it?
  19. Kayla where did you order it from? Can you post the website?
  20. Hi, I have acid reflux really bad. They found I also have the hiatal hernia, which my surgeon said he will fix first. So I'm hoping after the fix and with my sleeve I will no longer have reflux. If I do there is always staying on the stomach pills.
  21. Hi all, I had my pulmonary drs visit yesterday....need a note from him to clear me for surgery. Well he was hesitant saying I don't need weight loss surgery! Why can't i do it the old way? Eat less and exercise and before you eat you get on the scale see what you weigh, then you won't eat much! I was about ready to cry, didn't think he would clear me for wls. Well he gave me a note, I'm stable at this time. Woo hoo! But he wants to see me again Nov 3, just before my surgery I have copd my lungs are pretty bad so here's praying they hold out for surgery!
