What protein supplements are you taking?
I'm 3 weeks post op. Right now I'm using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, Premiere, Isopure and GENEPRO. I'm going to try and use up the first three (since I'm cheap) then switch to Genepro only (it's odorless and tasteless). I'm at 60g a day but my goal today is 90g. Carol

Two weeks post op and doing fine! :)
Hello everyone! Tomorrow marks my second week post op and all is well! I'm down 14 pounds and still on full liquids. Once I got a week post op in, drinking 64 oz of fluids has not been a problem. I am still struggling with Protein since all of it (except GENEPRO Protein, so glad I found that!) is so horribly sweet, but most days I do hit 60g. I want to be at 90g so that is my goal for today. All the swelling is gone and the gas was gone in about a week. My incisions are healing very well. I've had no problems so far and for that I am thankful! Not being hungry is an amazing and empowering feeling! I feel like I'm in control for the first time in my adult life when it comes to food. I've cooked most of my family's meals since surgery, and they've had take-out a couple of times and it made no difference to me at all. I was afraid I would feel a little resentful but I actually enjoy watching them eat. They were worried too so I had to convince them that it didn't bother me in the least. I go back to work next Monday so I plan to experiment with pureed foods this weekend so that I have a good plan on what to take with me to make sure I meet all my requirements. I'm open to questions about my experience so far. Here's wishing you all a great day and much success! Carol

Do they weigh you right before surgery
It depends on the hospital. I was weighed in at my doctor's office on Thursday, then went for preop testing on Friday where they asked for my weight, and had surgery on Tuesday where I was not weighed again until I came home and weighed myself. I would think that once you had your approval you would be done. Best of luck to you! Carol

Protein Powder Struggles - I found relief
I agree with you. This protein has been a huge life saver for me! I was skeptical that it was really tasteless, but it is! I love that I can add it to hot coffee too. I read about it here then did research online to make sure the claims were for real. I bought mine at Amazons.

How many weeks did you take off?
I just had surgery on the 2nd. I'm planning to take 3 weeks. Although my job is sedentary, and I probably could go back in two weeks, I want to make sure I have any food issues worked out and that I'm comfortable with what I'm doing. Best of luck to you. Carol

Had surgery on the 2nd
@@tiffdmill I've had very little incision pain. I still have my bandages on and they are pretty thick. I think that helps a lot. Best of luck to you! Thanks everyone!

Had surgery on the 2nd
and all went very well! With the exception of MAJOR gas pains across my ribs, I'm not having any other pain, and those are almost completely gone. I'm still on Clear liquids and let me tell you, 64oz ounces has been impossible. Yesterday I got in about half that amount and I'm hoping to do a little better with it today...sipping on diluted lite grape juice and I write. My last meal was Sunday night around 7pm and I am still not hungry in the least. I am allowed to try 4ozs of a Protein shake tonight, then slowing add up to 4ozs three times a day. If I can tolerate that, then I will be on full liquids on Monday. Other than walking a little slow, and being a little tired, I feel great! Much better than I expected I would. I'll be glad to answer any questions anyone has about my experience so far. Carol

This time maybe
I can so relate to you. I was a huge yoyo dieter and was never able to keep the weight I lost off for more than a year. My sister had RNY in 2006, and as I watched her become healthy and slim, I knew this was what I needed to do as well. She was and is extremely successful in her wls results. The problem was, the nonprofit I worked for had a rider that denied wls of any kind (made it more cost effective they said) and I couldn't afford it on my own. Then, in May, our Executive Director announced we were changing insurance companies. I held my breath as I pulled the company up online to see if they supported wls, and everything I read suggested it did. I got more and more excited. I made an appt with my primary w/o even having an insurance booklet or policy to make sure he supported it. Then, I held my breath for two weeks waiting to receive our policy. I had already gotten the referral to the surgeon from my primary. When I got my hands on that policy and read where is was covered, I had to close my office door so the rest of the staff didn't hear me crying. I was completely overcome with joy! I am so excited that my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday morning! I know without a doubt this is the right thing for me. I am so happy you didn't give up! I wish you the best of luck in your journey and I look forward to reading about your success! Carol

Soon to be new me!
I completed my preadmission requirements this morning and I am the first one scheduled for RNY on September 2nd! I have Protein, Vitamins, post surgery meds, and everything I need to drink for the next few weeks. I was nervous earlier in the week but now I am just excited to get this done! The best part, I will stop my diabetes meds the day of the surgery and the surgeon and my primary said the likelihood of me having to start taking them again is VERY low! I can't even begin to describe what a blessing that is to me. I'm about to go pack my hospital bag! Sending positive, healthy vibes to us all! Carol

September surgery
September 2nd is my date as well, unless they bump me to the 8th because of Labor Day (I'll know for sure Thursday at my preop appt). TODAY I am nervous! I didn't realize I was until people in my office kept asking me if I was okay (seems I'm a bit quiet and a snarky), so yea, that means I'm nervous. I KNOW that this is the best, most right decision I've ever made for myself. I've reasearched it to death, I've got a great role model (my sister had bypass in 06 and she's rockin it!), I have a great support system at home and work, and I have everything ready: Vitamins, Protein, correct foods, excercise plan, etc. I'm even blessed that I only have to go on a liquid diet for one day before surgery, yet I'm so nervous and emotional I could beat the crap out of Rocky! Wheeeeee it's gonna be a rough week/weekend at my house! Sending positive, calming, and healing vibes to us ALL! Carol

September surgery
I'm looking forward to finding a bra that fits!! I'm fairly small chested (B cup) but big around (44) so finding a bra in this size is so hard and when I do find one, the fit is just miserable. I want my diameter to match my cup size so I'm looking forward being a 36, or maybe even a 34 B! Yea!
