  1. I was TERRIFIED of solids. But it turned out well. I started with refried beans, melted cheese, and poached eggs. I moved on to scrambled eggs. At 9 months out, I have a good idea what I do and don't tolerate well but my body continues to change and so do my experiences with food. I have no complaints. I am so thankful for this surgery. My fears were unfounded in my case and any negative issues have been tolerable... Certainly more so than my obesity. Try not to be apprehensive. Just go easy on yourself and don't push yourself too hard.
  2. Hi all. Well, I am now down 100 lbs (171). My surgery date was 9/10. I'm very pleased. I still have more to go of course but am not stressing about it. The only issue I am having (and I'm thankful to have it) is that my body shape is out of proportion. I am much smaller all over but continue to carry weight in my abdomen. I think that I have 25 lbs or so there. It's like carrying a huge frozen thanksgiving turkey in a pouch. I know I will lose more and likely will always have the dreaded apron (I am 57) and I am not pinning any hopes on plastic surgery. It is just hard to find clothes that fit now! I wear a lot of leggings and tunics as they cover me well but don't bind my tummy... That is terribly uncomfortable. But skirts and dresses for work are tough and forget about dressy work pants. I don't guess there is anything I can do but press forward and hope exercise may mitigate the damage I did to my shape through obesity. Are others dealing with this? Thanks.
  3. I never heard of liquid biotin! I have lost quite a bit of hair. I need to google this!
  4. I did the same thing. Go for it! Don't wait any longer! I wasted way too many years being fearful! Best wishes for you!
  5. I take tylenol unless the pain is really stubborn, which is rare. Then it's back to 2 ibuprofen. No problems but I am careful not to overdo this.
  6. I started at 3 months and enjoyed it. I am having issues with anemia though currently so I stopped temporarily. I will resume when that's under control. I love weights!
  7. The change is eat less, eat healthy, drink fluid. But I have not found it too difficult. It does take effort though and preparation every day. The sleeve provides an excellent tool for doing this. Food no longer controls me. I could not have made this change on my own. I have no regrets.
  8. Bought this in a large and received it today. I love it! It might be too big before long though...
  9. Yes, Wanda, I started losing hair about 3 months out but at 7 months out, it seems to be improving. I was already losing some hair prior to the surgery due to my age and genetics however. Also, I was not as diligent after surgery as I should have been about vitamins. I am now eating more normal foods and my nutrition is better. Even still, my hair loss is not that bad and I am not concerned about it. And I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat.
  10. I know! Thank God I wasn't at work! Lol! Gotta buy new clothes...
  11. You have a much greater of chance of dying if you are obese and don't lose weight. I am 7 months out. It's a brand new world. I wish I had done this years ago!
  12. I got off the sofa and was was walking to the bedroom. My pants fell off. Slid right down to my ankles.
  13. Bought a bikini in size M top and L bottom. (Still snug but I can fit!) Sitting outside in a sundress with my legs crossed.
  14. Yep! And believe me, you will say, "I'm full!"
  15. Yes, I promise. It gets better, in fact, it gets great. What you are experiencing is common. Look on the positive side: you are rapidly losing and you are not going back to your bad behaviors. And yes you will eat meals again. But food will not control your life. You will eat to live, not live to eat. It feels great.
  16. I am smiling because you both express it so well. You are going to do great. It is hell right now though! From one Texas girl to another, keep the faith and hang in there. And mostly take those pain meds! Congratulations on joining our ranks. It gets better and better!
  17. My pain was terrible. Subsided greatly at two weeks. Try to rest and hang in there.
  18. Wow!!! You are Wonder Woman! Bless you and congratulations!
  19. I didn't have nausea but had wicked pain. Drinking anything was a real effort. She needs to take her pain meds, rest, try to move around the best she can a few times a day, and do her best on hydration. Some people really suffer at first. Once I reached two weeks, things got much better.
  20. Do not weigh! I weigh only at my dr appts and he prefers it that way.
  21. Mine was 1.5 hours which included the hiatal hernia.
  22. I did not see the change in how thing tasted coming. No one warned me. Even water grossed me out. It took about 3 months to go away.
