  1. I am on day 3 of a 2 week all liquid diet: protein shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles, decaf tea... If I see on more KFC commercial I don't think I can handle it.
  2. Thank you so much for the encouragement! Day 2 down!
  3. Oh plus all my teammates spent forever talking about their favorite breakfast tacos today, arguing over who makes the best ones. I told them they were going to die if they didn't cut it out.
  4. God bless you, Sylvia! You are almost there! I'll be glad when I am that close. It's only day 2 for me and I don't feel bad... Just odd. My stomach feels strange, a little queasy. Not hungry. I am tired but it's ok. Guess it's just an adjustment. Can't wait to be one of the folks several months out saying how great they feel!
  5. How did this turn out? How are you? Did you have the surgery?
  6. I am on liquids for two weeks. Calories are not important so much but no sugar, caffeine, carbonated drinks, etc. and I have to focus on protein, hydration, and my vitamins. Today I had 2 protein shakes, beef broth, strained mushroom soup, and tons of water. I'm feeling ok, a little tired and my stomach feels a little odd but not bad. I just wish I could stop peeing so much!
  7. And oh yeah... I can't stop peeing!
  8. Liquid pre-op underway, now I'm counting down to Sept 10! Is this really happening??
  9. Well I'm almost done with day 1: protein shakes, broth, strained mushroom soup, vitamins, and lots of water is my diet for the day. Feeling ok so far but it's odd not eating anything solid. But no weakness or real hunger yet, so here's hoping this continues to go well! Thank you, all!
  10. I still have two weeks to go before surgery but I think keeping a positive attitude makes a lot of difference in any recovery! So I say, relax, go in with a big smile, be very proud of yourself for taking this step, and focus on your great days ahead! Prayers for a swift recovery for you!
  11. I prefer Premier Protein vanilla shakes but they are too expensive. I need a powder and Premier doesn't make one. Does anyone use Pure Protein 100% Natural whey Protein? I ask because it is easily available at Walmart near me. It's not as many grams of protein as Premier but it's close. Any other suggestions?
  12. Began my two week pre-op liquid diet today. I've been so apprehensive about this particular step. Not the surgery though! I ate a healthy dinner last night. Woke up excited. I now have only 13 days, 19 hours, and 34 minutes until surgery!
  13. I really prefer Premier vanilla and it has the most protein of any shake I've found! I get it at Walmart. (Of course...)
  14. Wow! Do you have any idea how long this is good for? What about hospital costs though? That is the biggest portion of my surgery... 50K!!
  15. My insurance (through my employer) is paying for my upcoming surgery. My sister really needs this too but she is a long time contractor and has always had to buy her own policy. She got one through the federal exchange when the new healthcare law was implemented. It's not a terrible policy but not great either, in spite of being very expensive. And it does not cover any WLS. Does anyone know of any surgeons or facilities that finance? What is the best source for financing? We are in Houston. Thanks, all.
  16. Shane, I never read a more heartfelt and honest testimony. You truly deserve all good things. The woman who wins you will be very fortunate. Blessings to you.
  17. I am so nervous... scared, really. I am excited about the surgery itself but so worried about this pre-op! I will be working throughout and have a very stressful job in healthcare with lots of contact with people. Being hungry makes me weak and irritable and I'm so scared I'll feel bad and do or say something stupid! I wish I had enough vacation to stay home for this step. Am I making this a lot worse in my head than it will really be? I sure hope so....
  18. My doctor has repeated at every appt that I am to bring mine to the hospital. He had me take mine in to have the chip downloaded to verify I am using it nightly as part of my qualification process. I can't imagine anyone being told not to use theirs.
  19. I won't miss the giant special order bras ... But I'll miss the giant granny panties even less!
  20. My liquid diet starts Wed, surgery on the 10th. So looking forward to the surgery but dreading that preop!
  21. Starting young, I am doing this at 56. The great thing is, you ARE so young! Your body is going to heal faster and your skin still has elasticity, not like us old folks! Lol! You have done the right thing and the brave thing. It's going to be great.
  22. I hope my saggy face is not going to be too bad. I don't wanna look 80! But if it means losing this weight, so be it!
  23. One time someone said something stupid like that to my sister in law. SIL was silent a moment, then looked her in the eye and said " Did you really just say what I think you said?" The woman was so shocked she fell all over herself apologizing. Clueless!!
  24. It sounds like you have a lot to live for. Odds are both of these procedures will extend your life and improve your quality of life. They will be grueling for a while and bring life changes but it sounds like a pretty good trade to me. God bless.
