South Jersey outside Philly...preop testing stage

I had my initial surgeon appt this past Fri. I have Horizon NJHealth and was thrilled there was no six month diet requirement. Waiting to be contacted for my sleep study. I have my cardiology, gastroenterology and nutritionist apt scheduled mid August. My pcp already submitted my letter of medical necessity. Still have to schedule a psych evaluation and attend a preop class. Hoping for an October surgery.

I'm not sure my insurance covers this. I have a few names from my surgeon. Let me know yours?

Can i ask who you all used for psych in south Jersey?

I was in a similar situation with 12 years of no insurance. I spoke with the Bariatric coordinator and luckily with my surgeon/ insurance it wasn't an issue. (Horizon NJHealth)

I don't want two surgeries...I want one. I will have to deal with surgery for my legs (Dr. Said so) in a year or so....I really feel I will be best with RNY however I will keep researching and talk to the nutritionist as he suggested...move along with my tests and make a decision. Hoping for Oct surgery.

I went to my surgery consult today completely invested in bypass. Met with the surgeon and he was surprised. Then after discussing my role in my grandchildren's lives (Im raising them)he suggested I consider the sleeve because it's. Safer. I'm 5'3" 350 lbs and in his words startling good health considering my weight. In THE end he says the decision is mine. What do I do?

Tomorrow is my surgeon consult appt. I'm writing up a list of questions. With all your vast experiences...anyone have any suggestions? Anything you wished you had asked? Forgot to ask?

I started this journey fully invested that the sleeve was for me. But I have researched.....and read...and asked questions....and in the end I feel with confidence I'll be getting gastric bypass. My surgeon consult is Friday and I feel he will concur. We'll see.

I'm 5'3" and 360 pounds. Only comorbdities are mobility related. I'm leaning strongly towards bypass. Any thoughts?

I actually met my surgeon at the seminar and have an appt with him and the coordinator the 25th so I'll see what needs doing then Busy times ahead! My pap, mammogram and colonoscopy were all done in the last three months so √√√…

Hmmm three years ago I had a bothersome kidney stone and during the various tests they said I had gallstones. Guess that may be added to the list.

I have an appt with my pcp next week for the letter of necessity. I wonder if its ok yo call the Bariatric coordinator tomorrow for a list ofexacyly what I need so I can get referrals and get this started?

I'm hoping to have mine in the fall. Dietician appt in Aug. Not sure what other appts I'll. Need yet.

Slight change...appt changed to the 25th. So happy to finally be starting!

Went to my mandatory seminar last night and have my consult appt for Friday the 18th! Got two of my biggest questions answered and feeling VERY positive!!! Bring on the clearance appts!

I switched to Dr Neff in cherry hill for my bypass. Seminar Monday ...its all I can think about.

How are you feeling? My seminar is Monday I feel like it will never get here! I'm not worried about liquid diets...whatever it takes! I just want to get started and know what I have to do (specialists, 6 mo diets etc)

My seminar with Dr Neff is this Monday. I can't wait to get started!
