  1. You can have Gerd and never experience heartburn. I have Gerd and don't have heartburn. Mine presents as a weird full feeling in my throat. At times it feels like my throat is swelling shut. Also at times I have trouble getting food down my throat, especially if I drink water with my meal. Hope you feel better soon.
  2. I went to my first Options class last night. I was disappointed. The RD talked about herself almost non stop. We got very little information and some mis-information. Hopefully it will get better.
  3. What hospital do they use then? I've heard good things about Dr. Suh. Hope I get lots of info at class tonight.
  4. I didn't know there was a Kaiser in Murietta. Do you have any idea where you might get the surgery? I want the sleeve not the bypass.
  5. It's a long process isn't it? Did they mention where they do the surgery in the IE area? I'm hoping for Fontana since Riverside doesn't do it. I start my classes tonight.... Can't wait.
  6. Wonderful! You must be so excited
  7. Good news! I met with a nutritionist last week at Kaiser. I had many questions for her, she was patient and explained everything. The thing I most worried about was the liquid diet before surgery. I had heard two weeks to one day was required. I have an active job and was worried I would not be able to do it without running out of energy and possibly getting run down. The good news is...... She said either a one day liquid diet or NONE would be required! I can live with that.
  8. That's a great idea... Never would have thought of that!
  9. As anyone used the Bari Buddy pillow? I've seen it advertised and it looks like it could be useful after surgery. I had my gall bladder removed two yrs ago and used a Pillow Pet to support my stomach when getting up and it helped a lot.
  10. I'm taking my classes at the Corona Kaiser. Riverside does not offer anything bariatric related. I'm going to push for Fontana in I can. It's good to know that you had a good experience there. I can't wait f
  11. Thanks for answering. Is every surgeon a bit different in their requirements or are they pretty much the same? I can manage one or two days on a liquid diet no problem! I'm going to try and request your surgeon. I live in Riverside so Fontana would be perfect.
  12. I'm so sorry about your appointment! I know you were looking forward to getting your surgery date. Did they put you on a list to call you if an appointment becomes available? Please let me know whats going.
  13. How are you feeling? Did you experience much pain? How long was your hospital stay? Sorry for so many questions. I start the Options classes on July 8, and I can't wait to get started. I think they will be so helpful.
  14. What proteins have you tried? I tried premeire and it was ok. I keep reading very good things about Unjury. I'm going to ask the dietician about that brand next Momday.
  15. You and I are a lot alike.... I don't tolerate anasthesia well either. That fact alone makes this surgery scary for me... I'm very afraid of throwing up. But I will have the surgery and hope for the best. I have heard very good things about Kaiser LA. They do a lot of specialty type surgeries. I kinda hope I get my surgery there. I wonder why Kaiser doesn't have their own bariatric surgery for the Inland Empire. Let me know how your appt on Thursday goes please.
  16. Thank you so much for answering. Your reply helps a lot in trying to figure out the whole time line. May I ask what city you live in? I'm in Riverside and from what the nurse told us at our first group meeting most patients are referred to LA for the surgery. Please let me know how your appt goes this week. Are you nervous? Again, thank you!
  17. Hello, I have begun the process for Gastric Sleeve surgery with Kaiser Permanente in So. Ca. I've attended my group information session and will start the Options classes for 12 weeks in July. I'm wondering if any of you have used Kaiser and what your experience was. Especially the timeline. Looking forward to hearing about your experience.
  18. Thank you all for the replays. I bought the Premier Protein and am drinking one this evening. Not bad.
  19. Ask lots of questions. Don't leave with out being satisfied that you have the answers you need. Also take lots of notes. Good luck!
  20. Does anyone use Unjury protein powder?
