  4. it’s true! many of us bounce back from surgery, had no complications, lose weight and keep it off. It seems that new people are not getting a balance look at weight loss surgery. I would love to hear all the positive stories. People with no complications. Many people gravitate to the negative experiences. It will fuel your surgery anxiety. Before and afters https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/297668-i-want-to-see-before-after-pics-contd/ Success Stories https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1298-weight-loss-surgery-success-stories/ NSV's https://www.bariatricpal.com/search/?q=nsv SIDE NOTE: This site is not an accurate representation. Many are maintaining and have not had a weight gain. They no longer need this site. The people here are, Looking into WLS, in weight loss mode, had a gain, had complications and a handful of vets.

  6. My husband and kids were the only ones who needed to know the process. My decision affected them directly because we live together. I felt no need to explain it to anyone else. I love that you posted this. I can’t agree more. One of the best gifts out of surgery is inner change. Self-care, reevaluate toxic relationships, heal from the past and eliminate negativity. Life is short. Work to become the best versions of ourselves (inside and out)
  7. I apologise to the original posters. I'm not trying to hijack your post. Healthy eating/nutrition is still flavorful. Not feeling deprived will help you long term. Many healthy recipes for pizza. I have had quest protein chips (barbeque or cheddar flavor) Some do parmesan chips. 8. Being scared and nervous can make you question your decision. Normal pre surgery jitters. I’m sure your surgeon gave you the statistics and risk/complication facts. Your team is going to take good care of you and manage your pain with medication. The pain is temporary, your results will be amazing. As for all the horror stories, I think its human nature to gravitate toward the negative posts. It will fuel your pre surgery aniety. Try to balance things out by reading the positives. Surgery before and after’s https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/297668-i-want-to-see-before-after-pics-contd/ Success stories https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1298-weight-loss-surgery-success-stories/ NSV's https://www.bariatricpal.com/search/?q=NSV I think many of usthat have bounced back from surgery quickly and had no complications don’t get represented. People that are maintaining no longer need support leave the site. Most people posting are in weight loss mode, a few with complications and people that have gained weight.
  9. I don’t judge people on their decision to disclose or not disclose. Freedom of choice is a great thing. You are right, you can’t force people to disclose/tell the truth about their medical information. So, If I had cancer I should be "forced" to tell people about chemotherapy? Is not disclosing my cancer treatment out of shame? You still get asked about your weight/ maintaining? Things have become mundane years out. I never get asked about my weight anymore. I have been this size for years.
  10. Pain tolerance is different for each of us. For me it was discomfort. I had fantastic pain meds and bounced back quickly. I experienced more pain giving birth to my son.
  11. Sleeved in 2017. how much weight did you lose after surgery? You are currently 174 and stopped losing weight or have you gained weight? Have you seen your surgeon to rule out complications? Some things to try: You’re not alone, Many sleeves feel less restriction as we progress out from surgery. Your stomach is not back to full size. (Stretching is rare have it diagnosed by a surgeon and investigate revision options) Just because we can eat more does not mean we have to. Are you logging your food and staying within your weight loss calories and macros? Eat as much veggies with dense protein until the sensation of full. The bulk and fiber will help you feel more satiated. Carbs and sugar cause hunger. Once you eat them you crave them more. detox off them. Pouch reset or go back to bariatric basics Join a weight loss challenge.
  12. Disclose only what you want to who you want. You don’t own anyone an explanation for your weight loss. None of us owe anyone here an explanation of why we want to keep things private. keeping this a secret. Prepare yourself. Most conversations with people seem to be about your weight loss. Its uncomfortable and annoying. Realize you can’t hide rapid weight loss. People will ask questions, talk behind your back and speculate wls. The compliments and comments stop once your weight settles around goal. No one will give your weight a second thought. They will except this is you. Life becomes normal.
  13. I agree we are bombarded with weight loss Information and online forums to beat weight loss, diet, surgery, fitness, eating disorders and body image into the ground. Wow, I don’t see many of these topics and being a closeted subjects. To each there own about disclosing WLS. Some may want to shout the lifesaving benefits of WLS to the world. Others may simply be private people that keep their medical info to themselves. Some of us share with only people that are honestly interested. No need to beat your head against the wall with the many people that have negative opinions on WLS. Are we lacking in getting the word out on WLS? No – Google it! About 253,000,000 results (0.65 seconds) TV shows: Many discussing weight, WLS, my 600 pound life, Celebrities sharing there WLS experience, skin removal, diet, eating disorders, exercise, body positivity. Social media: Drs and hospitals advertising WLS, Instagram, bloggers, bariatric recipe site, pod casts, fitness and food log apps, YouTube and forums including bariatricpal. How many of these accounts are WLS patients and professionals? With all this information out there, Many of us don’t feel the need to be the weight loss or weight loss surgery spokesperson. Its not all about shame.. Side note: How many sites and forums on the topc of sex...LOL its a choice on how open you want to be on that topic as well.
  14. Many of us are busy and have crazy schedules. Now that we are getting into warmer weather, walking outside will help lift your mood. Workout videos, hand weights in your home or new/used exercise equipment. Bike/elliptical…Start slow and build on your fitness level as you progress. When you’re not working on the weekends plan to get more activity/exercise in. Do it even when it sucks. Make it a new habit. Use it to calm your stress or replace stress, emotions and eating out of boredom. Once you make it a habit. It becomes a normal and for me enjoyable. (never thought I would say that in life) Sometimes its perspective not motivation: A person with cancer that has three months to live would gladly trade places with us for our weight loss and exercise struggles. We get this second chance in life to lose weight and get healthy. Put everything into this first year. You wont regret it. This motivational video is a bit hard core but some days I need it
  15. We all make our own choices. Check your plan. Your surgery restriction is tight right out from surgery. It's going to be hard enough to consume your protein goal. My dieticians’ instructions are no soda in weight loss mode. Years out, yes, I have a carbonated beverage occasionally. I really don’t do soda as a norm and I don't miss it.
  16. I’m am adrenaline junkie when I work out.…My taste in music may not be yours.

  19. Fabulous maintaining 13 years out. I'm glad you found an approach that works for you. Maintaining is still some work. You gave the best advice ever - Don’t wait for a 20/40/50+ gain. Its easier to manage a small weight bounce range the to try to get back on track after a large gain. Congratulations.

  23. Does your surgeon’s office offer a seminar on all the different types of surgeries? I would start there.
