TWO weeks out .... Chime in my May buds!
I had terrible nausea in the hospital (it's one of the first things I remember saying to them when I was coming out of anesthesia), and I was on anti-nausea needs the whole time in the hospital, but it seems to have eased some (my surgery was 5/15), and I hope it stays away. Have you asked your doc? I remember others mentioning getting meds for the nausea

Has anyone tried/is trying the Couch to 5k? (If not, what exercises do you do?)
I tried c25k last summer, but my knees didn't like it at all. I plan on doing it this year...I'm hoping that my knees are in better shape post-surgery I can tell they are already, even when I'm only down 25 from the pre-liquid diet. I have a few friends who have used it and swear by it

Food tracking program
I primarily use sparkpeople for all of my tracking. I have it on my phone too, so I can track on-the-go.

How long after surgery did you excersize
5 days post-op, I've been walking since second day post-op (just sort walks, gradually increasing distance) I went around the whole block yesterday and I hurt substantially more today, so I may have overdone it a bit. Just do what you can tolerate

best protein shakes rtd/ powders ect.....
I just ordered sample packs from both syntax and chike. Injury has a sample pack as well (I wasn't a fan of their shakes pre-surgery and haven't had a chance to try them post-surgery yet)

TMI........ BUT WHEN WILL I POOP
I was wondering the same thing...my surgery was on 5/15, and no sign of bowel movement (but no discomfort either, so I'm taking that as a positive)

Cycling
I am really looking forward to getting back on my bike Hubby bought me a new Trek bike this spring so I would be able to ride it a bit before my surgery. I'm looking forward to getting my surgeon's clearance to start riding again I know it's going to be a little bit (only 4 days post-op), but hopefully not too long.

4 days out
I'm on my third day out...I had a moment of ravenous hunger earlier, but a little sip of water and the rumblies in the tumbly calmed down. Most of my hunger pangs are fairly transitory and don't last past moving around a bit or having a few sips of liquid (I'm on clear liquids for another few days)

I wanted a little motivation
I have a box of smaller-size clothes that I'm waiting to get into. Some of it as far back as before my last pregnancy (when I gained the last large amount of weight). I haven't actually bought anything in smaller sizes, but I have added a few cute dresses to my Amazon wish list. (my bf has a really nice leather jacket I told him I want to borrow when I get small enough =P)

Weight loss pre-op
Awesome!! I still have a few months. I was just looking at Vitamins at cvs while I was getting cough meds for my hubby. Did you buy the vitamins yet? Didn't they say something about us not getting gummies? Yep...no gummies, but they need to be chewable. I've become re-acquainted with the Flintstones

Just got the call
I have to be at the hospital at 8:15 a.m. tomorrow morning to register for my surgery I got my final clearance this morning (waiting on CT scan results and CPAP settings). I'm really kind of nervous (although a bit better since I got the call. I've been dreading something going wrong last-minute and having to postpone.) The phone call makes it real. This is really happening. Now I can take the next step on the journey to myself.

3 day Pre-op diet
I'm at the end of my 2-week pre-op liqui-diet. I wouldn't have complained if it were only a few days I guess every surgeon is different.

Unjury protein shakes
I got the samples of Unjury from my nutritionist during my visit. Honestly? I really didn't like them all that much. They just felt very thin (the shake I'm using now is much thicker) But everyone's taste buds are different. I will say the strawberry was a nice break from the chocolate/vanilla train I'm on with the other protein powders.

Weight loss pre-op
I've lost a total of 24 lbs pre-op (12 before the 2-week liquid diet and an additional 12 once I went to all liquids) I boosted my exercise quite a bit as well, so I'm hoping that helps with recovery and weight loss down the line. Great on you for losing so much during the pre-op process

May 16 Sleevers? Anyone else's surgery that day?
Good luck! My surgery's the day before yours (5/15), and I can't wait

Feeling my Feelings...and nothing I can do about it.
I've been working with a therapist consistently since my required psych eval (we mutually discussed continuing therapy, which I've needed for a long time), and I'm hoping with her help, I'll be able to weather some of the stormy days ahead (I'm pretty volatile emotionally, so I don't expect to suddenly be all sunshine and roses) and I was battling a fairly long-lasting depression (which I don't expect to clear overnight with the surgery), but one day at a time, I hope to get through it. To be honest, the thought of deeper depression scares me, because I've been there/done that and don't want to go back. I've made a lot of other changes in my life approaching the surgery as well (returning to school, working on my art career), so I'm hoping that I can focus the "must eat for consolation" feelings into artwork or exercise.

Who do I tell? Is it ok to only tell a couple people?
I've actually told quite a few people...because I have very few filters and I know I would end up mentioning it anyway. My family knows, my friends and the people I work with. And everyone's been pretty supportive (and if they weren't, they haven't said anything to me). Most of the comments I've received are pretty positive (I guess I'm pretty lucky in that)

Appointment today
Good luck I think I almost cried when I finally got my surgery date (it's Thursday). Even then, it still didn't seem real until I started the liquid diet and the rounds of required pre-tests. Now everything's cleared and I'm so ready

Tomorrow!
Good luck! Thursday's my day, and I can't wait

Who Are You Telling / Who Did You Tell?
I not only told my family, but also my FB friends and the people I volunteer with at the zoo. I found four friends that have had the surgery in the past, and nothing but well-wishes from everyone. I think my bf is the only one who had any negatives about the surgery (not the fact that I'm doing it, he supports that. He's very doctor-phobic though and he's terrified of hospitals, so he's a little negative because of that, but he's working hard to control it around me) I think I got very lucky...the one friend I worried about receiving negative comments from (she's lost quite a substantial amount of weight via diet and exercise alone) said that she used to be against the surgery until a close friend had it and did so wonderfully. She saw the positive difference it made up close and personal, and said that she can definitely see the positive side of it now.

Trouble sticking to preop diet
Good luck on sticking the course I'm nearing the end of my liquid diet (my surgery is 5/15), and I would almost rather not eat than face another shake. I'm allowed yogurt, cottage cheese and sugar-free pudding/jello, and that helps. And broth. I never liked broth before, but when everything else is so sweet, broth can be a life-saver. That said, it's really not that hard if you keep the end goal in mind. I honestly dreaded the thought of 2 weeks of liquids, but it hasn't been nearly as bad as I expected. I cleaned all my food weaknesses out of the house before starting (that was a big one), and I try to stay out of the kitchen when hubby is cooking food for the kids at night. Oddly enough, I'm not craving chocolate or any of the things I would normally snack on. I crave meat and oddly enough, Ramen noodles (which I haven't eaten in years). Best of luck

Has anybody gained any weight during their insurance required weight management?
I bounced a bit. I lost 15 lbs, then gained some back when I was having a particularly difficult time with my son (he was in and out of the hospital, and it was a very stressful time and I wasn't able to follow the nutrition guidelines as well as I should have). The doctor more or less shrugged it off, saying everyone stumbles and it was more important to get back on the horse and keep going. Now I'm on the pre-surgery liquid diet and losing more than I expected...hopefully that makes him happy (he wanted me to drop at least 10 lbs from my last appointment to my surgery date, and I accomplished that, so I'm happy)

How to prepare your spouse for lifestyle change
I've done my best to prepare my partners, and they've both been very supportive, They have stopped bringing food into the house that I can't have (which was a huge issue for a long time, but once I started the surgery prep, they really stepped up to the plate) Other than that, I haven't really done a whole lot to prepare them other than talk over their concerns and misgivings. They are both so active and involved in outdoor activities (cycling, etc) that my losing weight will enable me to keep up with them, and hopefully bring us closer together. They are mostly looking at all of the things we would like to do and can't because I feel held back because of my weight, and how much more we'll be able to do once I start losing and get more into the fitness groove. (the take-out/eating out is the one thing they both understand has to stop...that was a bonding method for us before. Have a stressful week? Order Chinese. Or pizza.) But they've been part of the process from the beginning, asking a lot of questions and attending the sessions with the nutritionist. They're as prepared as they can be without actually going through the surgery themselves. Hopefully it's enough.

Pouch pain is your own fault- interesting talk with my PA
I found some little hors d'oeuvre forks that are just the right size Now if only I could find matching spoons.
