  1. Per my surgeon, I'm not supposed to have more than 2 cups of caffinated coffee during the day. I usually have 2, maybe 3 if I'm really tired. I've been drinking diet pepsi, but not the decaf version.
  2. Personally, I like the taste of Splenda the best. I won't use Sweet N Low at all. If Splenda is not available, I will use Equal.
  3. Today begins the 2nd week of my pre-op diet. I'm doing really well. Yeah, I'm hungry, but I keep drinking broth and I deal with it. And I can honestly say I have not cheated. I got on my friends scale over the weekend, and I don't know if it's right, but it says that I lost 10 pounds!! I pigged out the 2 weeks before my surgery, so I probably lost more than 10 pounds. I'm basing it on the amount I weighed when I met the nurse and nutritionist in the middle of August. It really does get easier.
  4. I'm on a fat free/sugar free diet. I can only have the "fake sugar". I'm taking in approximately 1000 calories per day.
  5. sounds good! you can PM me his information if he's interested.
  6. Shelli - my parents just moved to Casa Grande - I'm coming out after the new year to visit!! :waytogo:
  7. I priced Chantix at a few different pharmacy's here in New York, and they were averaging $150 per month.
  8. I am allowed: 5 slimfast optima shakes per day 2 cups veggies Water 2 cups regular coffee, then switch to decaf - with skim milk and splenda beef/chicken broth sugar free ice pops sugar free Jello any other drink that is diet/caffiene free 3 oz. of lean Protein (chicken or fish or 3 egg whites) Today is day 5 of the pre-op diet and I'll tell you the truth, the hunger is REALLY going away! I'm totally surprised! I've had a terrible headache since I started, but I'm really feeling MUCH better. I have a lot more energy - I'm not napping as much as I was.
  9. They want us to diet to clean the fat out of our livers. The liver has to be moved during surgery. If it is too full of fat, it could tear while they are doing the surgery.
  10. this may sound stupid. I'm getting banded on October 1st. I am on day 4 of my pre-op diet. I saw someone here at work today, and she told me that she sees a difference in my face!! That made me feel so good, considering how lousy I've been feeling from not eating. And I've noticed that my clothes feel looser.
  11. I'm sorry your DH isn't being supportive. I'm very lucky to have a HUGE support group rooting for me right now. I'm on day 4 of my 14 day pre-op diet. My ex-husband was never supportive. He would sabotage me when I did good on weight watchers. I gained almost 170 pounds in the 13 years I was with him. My divorce papers should be signed by the end of the year. Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not telling you to divorce him. But I know exactly what you are going through.
  12. What is a sweet spot?
  13. I am on day 4 of my pre-op diet. I am allowed: 5 slim fast optima shakes 2 cups veggies broth sugar free Jello sugar free ice pops diet/caffiene free soda or iced tea Water decaf coffee I still have a slight headache, but that extreme hunger feeling really has gone away. I would LOVE to eat something, but I'm not going to sabotage what I've already done. I have 10 days until surgery.
  14. I started my liquid diet on 9/17. I am allowed: 5 slimfast optima shakes per day 2 cups veggies Water 2 cups regular coffee, then switch to decaf - with skim milk and splenda beef/chicken broth sugar free ice pops sugar free Jello any other drink that is diet/caffiene free 3 oz. of lean Protein (chicken or fish or 3 egg whites) So far I've been good, I have not cheated once!
  15. I smoke, and honestly, with the stress of all that is going on, I'm going to quit after the surgery. I have a prescription for Chantix, but it's expensive and my insurance doesn't cover it. I figure being I won't be eating out after the surgery, I'll be able to afford it.
  16. I am scheduled for October 1st. Good luck to everybody!
  17. The surgeon told me vitamin E thins out your blood. And vitamin B does something too, but I can't remember what it was exactly. They said to stop taking my vitamins 5 days before surgery. I'm taking juice plus vitamins that the surgeon's office gave me when I met the nutritionist. Those I can take up to the day of surgery. Plus the 5 slim fast shakes that I was told to drink per day has all the vitamins and nutrients in it that I need.
  18. My endocrinologist told me to stop taking the metformin the day before surgery, but the surgeon's office told me to stop taking it 5 days before surgery. I stopped taking it yesterday (12 days before surgery) because I've been feeling very shaky. I also have to stop taking all vitamins - normally I take a multi, a vitamin C and a vitamin E.
  19. you're exactly right - sorry, I should have used the alternatives...
  20. I did the sleep apena test back in March, 2007. Worst night's sleep of my life. I kept pulling the probes off. I don't have sleep apnea, but my doctor said that I "snore impressively".
  21. I'm feeling somewhat better today, the slight headache isn't as bad as it was, but it is still there. The shakiness is calming down some. I'm not HUNGRY, I get little twinges of hunger here and there. I've been keeping myself full on broth and coffee and other fluids. And then I woke up this morning with IT - talk about kicking me while I'm down!!!!
  22. Good luck to you! I am 12 days away from surgery! :clap2:
  23. I took some pictures last night, on day 1 of my liquid diet. I'm also going to take pictures the night before my surgery, and then every month on the 1st of the month. I'm not doing Optifast, I'm on 5 slimfasts a day, broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free ice pops.
