  1. I had a interesting morning, getting ready for work. just before I walked out the door, I remembered my morning vits. well what do you know, one of the gel capsules got stuck, no problem I thought, it will go down, a little burp should do it, was I ever wrong. as I was getting on the freeway, I slimed ( thank goodness I had a napkin) saved the day, so I though a few moments later, BAM I a whammy of a slime episode, it was like Linda Blair in the exorcise. LOL! I was late for work today.
  2. I don't fly, but let me tell you what happened to me a couple weeks ago. I live in California (central valley) my hubby and I drove up to Sonora (elevation 1800 ft) to get a copy of my birth cert. We had plans to eat breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants and I couldn't eat. matter of fact any hunger I had was gone. I felt the difference right away as we drove further in. when we drove home and were in town my hunger returned and I was able to eat a light lunch. I told my Dr. about it and he had no answer. hmmmmm!!!! maybe I should drive out there on a regular basis.
  3. who better to answer that question but a true Mexican. I eat chili, meduno, tacos, chili verde, chili colorado, beans, rice you name, I can tolerate it. there are days I can eat a low carb tortilla and other days I cant. this past Friday I had a bean tostada and couldn't eat the tostada shell, yet a week ago I ate 2. I love chorizo with eggs. of course Mexican food is fattening, everything is fried.
  4. this is so funny, last night I had a dream or something about this "Freaking Band" I don't know what is was about, but I told myself "its going to be alright" I guess sub-cautiously I have not truly accepted my band, yet I know it was the best thing I could have done ( does that make sense) I still miss eating like a pig (call me Loca) I miss my companion and the comfort it gave me (damn! I have issues) but everyday it gets better and I know with time my band will be my new friend.
  5. Three months out with only a 2 pd weight loss, a week ago it was 4 Pd's (my scale) but I will only use my Dr's. scale as a true and accurate weight loss. the good news is I got a second fill, I really didn't want it but decided to have a small fill (.5cc) I did not focus this month, have not been planning my meals, did not walk for nearly 2 weeks (due to illness) eating soft foods that require little or no chewing (so of course I ate more) I need to get back on track. the good news is my fill went well, Doc was able to use a shorter needle, he tells me my sub-cutaneous stomach fat is shrinking. Darling Doc. is so encouraging and told me I am on track. I will be setting a goal of 8 pds for the April.
  6. you might not be getting enough calories, try a protien drink in the morning or mid-mornigng and snack thoughout the day, a boiled egg, cheese stick, cottage cheese, fruit. you have to eat during the day. I never have have time for breakfast so I make a protien drink and have it mid-morning at work and I make myself eat healthy snacks throughout the day and of course I have lunch even if its just a bite. It really works. I also eat more during the evening but again my focus is on protien
  7. check this out ladies, I went to a post-op lapband class today and it was very informative. First thing I found out was although I am losing weight, I am eating to much at one time. I was told to eat only 3 or 4 ozs of food and right now I eat way more than that. I need to start measuring my food or somehow estimate a portion size. I could sure use any suggestions. I was also weighed on a Tanita Body Compostion Analyzer, this is what it told me about my body *WEIGHT 247.5 *BMI 41.2 *BMR 7589 kj (?) 1814k cal (calories needed to maintaim current weight) I need to reduce my calories by at least 500 to lose weight FAT % 49.5 (on my!) FAT MASS 122.5 (half my weight is fat!) FFM 125.01 lb TBW 91.51 lb DESIRABLE RANGE FAT% 23-34% FAT MASS 37.5 TO 64.51 lb
  8. I felt the same way, I was scared of the pain (no pain) I was scared about not being able to eat normally (have had a few stuck episodes, slowly adjusting) I didn't need a fill the first month and when I went in for my 2 month visit, I thought to myself, 7 lbs lost, wont need a fill, but Doc said "lets give you a fill" the next thing you know I have a 2cc fill. and I thought what the hell just happened. I always told myself I would be conservative with fills and look at me 2cc's on first fill. I will take it slowly and see want happens. Good luck, be brave, you'll do fine
  9. theres animal Proteins dairy products Beans and of course Protein supplements the best book to follow is Atkins. its proteins galore
  10. thats how I felt when I first started off with this whole process.I didn't understand why someone would be upset at losing 50,60, 80 or more Pd's and then be upset because the last 5 or 10 wont budge. I now see its an ongoing battle. everyone sets a goal and of course their upset if they don't reach it. the best we can all do is to continue to provide encouragement. My personal goal is 199, yup you read it right 199 Pd's. if I happen to lose more, then of course I will take it.
  11. Bad habits are hard to break, just give it time and new habits will become second nature. My bad habit is eating to fast. I had a slight stuck episode this morning.I had beans, small low-carb tortilla and chorizo with eggs, I got stuck on the tortilla ( 1st sign of problems-slight pain, excess saliva) thank goodness it went down. I need to work harder on eating and enjoying what I eat instead of shoveling it down. But other then that, I have continued to walk everyday. most days its 2 15 min. walks during my work break and have been doing 2 sets of 15 reps with 5 lb dumbells. Ladies keep up the good work.
  12. WOW! Jewelee, thats great. I cant remember the last time I shopped in misses/ladies. keep up the good work
  13. congratulations, we're all behind you
  14. OK ladies and Gents this pass Sunday, I went shopping for some new pants. as I was stripping off my clothes, I took a long long long look at the women staring back at me. I was in my underwear and bra turning around to check out every possible angle and was in shock at what I saw. I saw the hanging stomach and was lifting it up to see how I might look when the time comes for PS. I have loose hanging skin in the inner thighs ( that upset me more than anything) I held up my arms and they are in a world of their own. I check out my ass, and am happy to announce its holding up nicely. and the grand finally, I removed the bra. no shock there. boobs have been headed south for a while (breastfed 3 out of 4 kids) but what shocked me most was the face. the women starring back was smiling. she had a new spark to her eyes. she is beautiful. she is proud and strong, and is truly happy. having the band has giving me hope and strength, yeah! I might b***h when this band is causing me a little discomfort, but all in all I have been been blessed by God. Gone are the days of eating myself into a food coma, gone are the days of eating just to eat. gone are the days of eating in secret. gone are the days of going back for 2nds, thirds and just that last bite to hit the spot. I have stood in front of the mirror before, and yes it always shocks me. how could I have done this to myself. what in my life could have caused me to overeat so much to harm this body, my temple.my being. I have ask myself those questions a dozen times. childhood, marriage, children, boredom, depression, happiness. the joy of eating. I don't have the answers. (call Oprah). Have you met the person in the mirror? share your moment
  15. I'm feeling a little better after my first fill, no a lot better. I have no hunger during the day, today I had a protein drink, boiled egg and water. when I got home I had a cup of clam chowder. OK now check this out. my hubby is eating a flour tortilla with butter, mmmmmmmmm smells delis. and what happens I eat one, a whole tortilla. I chewed that baby to nothing. I don't think thats a good thing. I need to toss those suckers out the door another thing I noticed is during the day, I have excess saliva, its not a lot and I did not need to excuse myself to the ladies room and I guess sipping water flush it down (gross). This also happened to me on Saturday, I went shopping and was having to spit in a napkin the whole time. after we stopped to eat, it went away. This finicky band, I will learn to control it!
  16. right on! UG and RN I hope to hit 240 soon. I have tried over many years to get under 250. I'm shooting for the stars
  17. you look amazing, you are an inspiration to me and others thank you
  18. Ayi! I feel light cramp, I was enjoying chicken with broccoli and wham! it got stuck. I walked around the house for a few mins., went to the bathroom and spit up all this slim, small piece of broccoli came up. the pain is HELL! it didn't last long, maybe 5 mins. during lunch I sort of felt the same way with salmon and salad, it made it through so no crisis I'm 5 days out from my first fill of 2cc. I will play this out and concentrate on my chewing, but if it happens again I will get a slight unfill. I don't want to have to worry about this again. buh humbug

I believe in colon cleansing, my last one was about 6 months ago I use a product from the local health store. I believe we have built up of toxins that can make you feel sluggish Its time for another one, but I need to get OK from Doc.

  21. I was never a breakfast eater I usually have a protien drink with a few frozen berries (no sugar added from trader joe's) I do eat a late breakfast on the week-ends, eggs, oatmeal, cream of wheat whatever strikes my fancy
  22. Hi Elle just had my first fill, 2 months post-op. I was nervous and scared, but today I told myself, just get it over with. Wow! I can tell you it was an experience. the doc had me lie down he pushed around a little looking for the port had me push out my tummy and done, no pain. everyone was telling me it was easy, but my nerves got the best of me. I am feeling such joy today. don't be scared you can do it.
  23. I'M SHOOTING FOR THE STARS. I had my first fill, it was a trip. I am still in total wonder. no pain, no hunger (don't know how long it will last) but I was totally nervous about it since I had my surgery, but I did it and I feel revived, its just what the Doctor ordered. yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
