  1. Mine is the 18th, on my third day of the liquid diet and feel tired and weak. Hope it gets easier.
  2. Just saw my surgeon for the last time until my surgery on the 18th. She gave me the pre-op diet sheet which includes more food than I thought there would be. Unlimited raw vegetables (certain ones), dill pickles on top of the liquids. I couldn't believe how much was on the list that I could have. This is going to be much easier than I thought. No full liquid diet until after surgery.
  3. Wow, you are having lots of challenges, yuk. Wishing for you to be better soon and get through your pre-op with no more problems ????????
  4. Welcome to the group . You're on your way! Hope you make it through your pre-op with no problems! Julie

  9. @losingit74. So far, from what I know post-op there is about three weeks of liquid diet and then on to soft foods if all goes well to that point. I don't know much about the sleeve to give you an idea of how it would be different. Wishing you the best
  10. I'm in the same boat with having not much hair to begin with, but a wig it is if it all falls out ! Has anyone heard of rubbing olive oil into your scalp before bedtime to stimulate growth? Someone told me about it recently but I haven't tried it.
  11. I am super nervous too but I know there is no turning back. Just keep thinking how much better you are going to feel down the road Welcome to the group!!

  14. OMgosh I can so identify with you about quitting smoking and gaining, I have done it too. Uuugh, it's so hard not to gain when there's nothing to smoke! Best wishes to you!!
  15. Awesome! I will have a fellow "loser" to sit with I hope everything works well for you on the 18th!!
  16. I had a similar reaction when I received my phone call. I have been on this journey since December 2014 and now it's finally here. When the nurse said "How does November 18th work for you?" I was like "UUuuuhhhhh, Uuummmmmmmm". She finally said "Well, I don't want to push you into it!" LOL. We had a good laugh after that and then the deal was done, date scheduled. Still nervous but so exciting at the same time! I've been driving myself and everyone else around me crazy trying to learn all I can and to have a plan in place for Protein, shakes, whatnot, etc. but I'm wondering if one day at a time wouldn't work better? It's pretty confusing trying to know what to do when you won't really know what will work for you until you are there and experiencing it.
  17. Thank you both! I too am so ready to be healthy and most of all to be free of the weight. I have no idea what it's like to be a "normal" weight in my 45 years of life. This is going to be like a whole new life for me
  18. I will have my surgery on November 18th, pretty excited but scared to death too from reading posts about all kinds of problems others are having. Best wishes to everyone Julie
  19. My paperwork was just turned in on the 25th of September so I suppose I'm in for the thirty day wait to find out if I'm approved. I started this journey last December so it's been a long road. For me, it was my doctor I had to bug all of the time to turn her paperwork (6 month diet notes) into the bariatric nurse so they could send it in to insurance. I think that took up two months alone! Now, I just want to get there and am loosing patience lol. I'm seeing a lot of people on here who have BCBS through other states (I'm in Kansas) and are paying huge deductibles for their surgery. I also have BCBS as a state employee of KS and this is the first year we are getting coverage for this surgery. Kind of worried.
  20. i can understand the frustration as well. I started this journey with my seminar last December, made it through the 6 months of the doctor diet and then struggled with my doctor to get the paperwork turned into the surgeon's office so it could be turned in to insurance. Was finally turned into insurance last Friday (Sept 25th) and waiting for approval. It's been a long wait since December! I'm so ready to go with this! This is the first year my insurance is covering bariatric surgery so it's kind of scary to know if they will actually cover it or not. Good luck to you both It will be worth the wait, right?? Julie
  21. Good to see you here! I'm not all that sure how long it takes. With my insurance I have to go through the six month doctor supervised weight loss program before they will approve me, still in the middle of that after a setback and now back on the right path. I've heard of some who got their approval and surgery date within a couple of weeks but like I said I'm not totally sure of the time frame. Good luck and best wishes to you !
  22. Hey, small world! I'm so glad everything is going well I'm still on a long road, trying to get some weight off before a surgery date can be scheduled. Sometimes it feels like I'm not going to get there but I keep trying! I can't wait to get to where you are. Happy journey
  23. I hope everything went well with your surgery! It's good to find another person from Kansas!!
  24. Thank you both for the support, tomorrow is a new day. I am going to start a program through one of the hospitals here in town so I'm hoping it will help. Thanks again for your thoughts and support
