  1. Bad day today, went in for my three month check with my doctor. Seven pounds gained. In.a.month. O.M.G. How does one gain seven pounds in a month? Other than feeding ones face constantly. I finally realize I'm a junkie, a food addict. Nothing more, nothing less. So today I start over, six more months before my doctor will sign off on my surgery. I have to find a way to hold myself accountable. Long road ahead with so much to learn about myself.
  2. Hi April! I am in the, what I call, the "hoop jumping" stage of my journey. I have BCBS insurance which requires a 6 month physician followed diet program, I'm going in today for my 4 month doctor visit. I've met my surgeon for the first time and have had the psych eval (passed, yay!), saw a dietitian and have had a preliminary sleep study done. Whew! After all of that I can have everything turned into insurance to see if they will cover my surgery (fingers crossed). Then, I will get a surgery date. Where are you in your journey? I'm excited to get to meet someone else from Kansas, WELCOME!!
  3. You're an inspiration for a newbie like me! Congratulations!!
  4. Anyone in Kansas? I'm in Topeka!
  5. It sounds like you are well on your way and handling it very well! I hope to be as graceful, I've never been very good in disciplining myself so I have much to overcome before my surgery. I come from a long line of ladies who show love with food, I catch myself doing it to my own family too. It may just be the biggest obstacle I face during this time as I also love myself with food too. Am learning lots already and you are being a great help to me, Thank you !!
  6. Thank you! I am planning to and working through the process of having gastric bypass surgery. Almost there! I have two family members (in-law's) who have both had the surgery, I have learned from them but am finding this website to be even more than I hoped to find! Wishing you much success, I hope you are doing well since your surgery
  7. Thank you for the welcome I'm excited to be here and learn lots. I wish you well and hope your progress is going good!
  8. HI everyone, I'm Julie. Just starting my journey with WLS. Have seen my surgeon for the first time a week ago and have started all of the other testing I need to have done before surgery, pysch test, saw a dietitian, will have sleep study done soon as well. Just now in the middle of the 6 months of seeing my regular doctor every month for my insurance, two more appointments to go. I feel like I still have much to learn but am eager to get going with it although still no date set for my surgery, waiting for all of my hoop-jumping to be done first. I am anxious to get to know everyone and learn everything I need to make this journey successful. I have been obese since childhood and ready to not be anymore! Julie
