7 Days out and struggling
Hello everyone, I am on day 7 and am still struggling. I went to a post-op class and most everyone was all happy and pain free etc. I felt like something must be wrong with me. I still have quite a bit of pain, my stomach is constantly gurgling. I can barely get water in without a touch of pain. I can feel every drop go down until it gets restricted at the opening of my stomach. I still have some gas pains. Will I ever feel normal again? I mean feel like I did before surgery? Not that I mean feel like I can eat everything but just feel somewhat normal? I did a lot of research but I guess I didn't realize how hard this would be. I know everyone is different but this part is super hard. Any advice would be appreciated.

Healing time!
I am at day 6 and there Is no way I could be back at work and I also sit at a desk. I am still hurting, can barely drink any water at all. I definitely could not sit up at a desk all day. Right side pulls and hurts when I sit upright for too long. Please give yourself 2 or 3 weeks then if you can go back early that would be great. Better that than not giving yourself enough time. I see the people really vary on how quickly they recover. Best of luck.

Question on pain
This to me, was worse than a C-section and I didn't come home with a baby. LOL I am only on day 6 but I have quite a bit of pain still. Best of luck.

What are you telling people?
A few months back a friend of mine at work said, "hey did you see how much weight so and so lost?" "Well, I found out she had the lap band and she has been telling people she is dieting and exercising really hard." Anyway, my friend was really upset with her for lying. (although she probably was exercising and watching what she ate). I get it was not her business but she was hurt and really kinda ticked off. I wont lie myself if asked but that is just me. Oh, and by the way the friend who told me this is 3 years out of a gastric bypass and did not keep it a secret so maybe that is why her feelings were hurt.

What was your surgery time?
I just got a call from the surgeons assistant. She is super nice. I actually go in later. 2:00pm LOL. She said don't worry all is well and this is typical of surgery times. So I am going to make the best of it and go to the movies to see Tammy tomorrow since I have time. Thanks all!

What was your surgery time?
Ugh, missed a call from my surgeons office. My check in time was supposed to be 9:30 tomorrow morning with surgery at 11:30. My new check in time is 1:00 so I assume my surgery wont be until 3:00. Has anyone else had that late of a surgery time? I sure hope they do not postpone it.

26 hours out and things no one told me
Hello, I had my gallbladder out and had most of the same issues. Plus I couldn't even pee and had to have a catheder. It hurt to laugh and hiccup, it is probably similar with many laprascopic procedures. Does anyone know where spell check is located?

Mine too and I am super nervous. Good luck!

Should I go for Mexico soon, or wait to see if new ins next year covers it
I would think with the healthcare changes they could not deny pre-existing conditions regardless of how they came to be. Myself, I would wait. I went through this since November and my surgery is tomorrow. The time did go fast enough for me.

Who really followed the post-op diet?
Oh, you edited your post, you meant Pre-Op not post op. I would say do your best during pre-op and post-op follow 100%. Some will get on you for not being 100% pre-op but some have a full 30 days of liquids and I for one would have a super hard time doing that before any restriction. I do not think that is a bad thing if you are just doing your best.

Who really followed the post-op diet?
Dawnnae123, I did not have a pre-op diet. Today is technically my pre-op diet day. Light breakfast, soup for lunch and clear liquids the rest of the day. My doctor does not do any other pre-op diets. Thankfully!

Freshly Sleeved!
Wednesday here as well. Nervous too!

Who really followed the post-op diet?
My surgery is tomorrow but there are plenty of people that have followed 100% at least according to their posts. Now pre-op is all over the place.

Surgery tomorrow

Secret Surgery
I have only told two friends and some family members. I wont lie when asked though since I think it is unfair if another overweight person asks how I did it and I say diet and exercise. Now I understand I do have to watch what I eat and exercise but I hope to lose quicker than it would normally take. Just my two cents. Choose what is best for you!

10 Months Post Op Pic & Feeling Pretty Fabulous
Holy Moly you are skinny! Congratulations, you look great!

Has anyone cheated and ate whole foods on their post op diet?
Stick together to keep each other strong. Maybe take a walk away from the hotel and all of the food and try to sip some water. You are lucky to have someone on the journey with you, make the most of that. Plus you will feel awful if you eat anything you are not supposed to this soon, not to mention the guilt feelings. =)

I told my daughter
Thank you all for your support. I could just sit here and cry today. Feeling super emotional. I did not tell her what type of surgery I was having just that it was to help me feel better. I think I am going out today after work and buy a recordable book for her. She can have that with her while I am in the hospital. I hope it will help her feel closer to me. I hate that she feels so upset. I could have my cousin bring her to the hospital but it will depend on how I feel. I broke my toe a few months back, (it was facing the wrong direction) and she cried. I don't want her to see me if I am in a lot of pain but otherwise it may be in the plans to have her come to the hospital.

Killing it! Rocking the S**t out my sleeve!

Quest Protein Bars
I have only had one and it was quite yummy. It tasted much better than the nasty Pure Protein one's that I can barely gag down. I look forward to trying more of them but yes, they do taste more like a candy bar than a protein bar.

I told my daughter
I have a 7 year old so I didn't want to tell her too soon about my surgery. She lost her grandfather (my dad) a year ago and her dad has left and only saw her once in a year. Needless to say she is very close to me. My surgery is Wednesday. She cried herself to sleep last night and was still upset this morning. She kept saying I might die and she doesn't want me to go to the hospital. My heart is breaking for her. I wish there was some way to reassure her. I told her my doctor said this is an easy surgery and that I would be ok. Please keep her and I in your prayers if you can. She is my entire world and I need to be here for her. Any advice would be appreciated.
