  1. Good luck! I am one week post band removal and sleeve. Keep us updated
  2. Glad to hear everyone is doing good. I had band removed and sleeve done on 10th. I am having a hard time getting the protein drink down. Sore some, but feeling better. I had to stay an extra night due to nausea and dry heaves. Taking it day by day
  3. I can honestly say this has been the best thing in the world. I was banded April 29th and have lost a total of 55 pounds (pre-op as well as post). I have had one fill so far and that was a breeze. I have not had one single complication. I agree with the others that the band is a tool and you have to be compliant with what your physician tells you to do and if you push past those then your band will let you know. Don't read the horror stories, because you will read that on any type of procedures that someone can have. You have to weigh the pros and cons to anything that you do medically and see if it's worth it for you or not. Being over weight causes ton of problems for you too and can definitely out weigh potential surgical problems (my opinion). This is giving me my life back and I would do it again, even if I had of had a complication ( which I am glad I didn't), But it is so worth it!!!!!!!

Got my band on June 16th

Congrats, I was banded on April 29th, and it Has been wonderful. I try to do everything that my physician has instructed and so far no issues. I have only had one fill, which was not bad at all. This forum is wonderful!

    First fill today

What would you consider a normal amount for a fill? Today was my first fill and my doctor grave me a 1cc fill. Just wasn't sure what amount was normal or is it more MD specific?

    First fill today

I am not sure what my band was filled with during surgery. I really can't tell any difference since he filled it yesterday. We did have the conversation of how much was I able to eat , any problems with food passing etc. prior to my fill yesterday. However, my weight loss has been averaging a pound a week and definitely can tell more in my clothes. So I am satisfied with my decision. Definitely been a good thing for me.
  7. Welcome to the otherside. The first 3 -4 days are the worst, but it gets much better. Try to move around and that helps. I am almost 4 weeks out and it has been wonderful.
  8. The pain gets much better by day 4. Congrats! I am 3 weeks out and feel great. Just follow your doctor's recommendations.
  9. I am one week post band and the first 3 days were the worst. It definitely gets better. Congrats!!!

    Lap band was May 1

Is your incisional site ok? May be your body reacting to something foreign in it. It should pass, but if you notice red or swollen incision sites and continued fever, I would notify my physician. Your incision will be slightly red and swollen after surgery and that is normal but it should start to get less and less as the days progress. I had a low grade temp for several evenings post op, but not like what you are describing. I am a nurse (24 years- ICU), so just pay attention and never feel like you can't let your doctor know about your concerns.

    Does it really matter!

It should never matter what the number is, but that you feel better about yourself and are getting yourself healthier! I think that's what the majority of us that use this forum as our social network to be able to support those of us that need a person that knows how hard the gain/loss struggle truly is. Good luck and we are here for you!

    Today is the day!

Well, surgery is over!!! Yeah, had to spend the night in the hospital, THANK GOODNESS! Day one was rough, but today is better. I actually consider myself pretty tough, but I have to admit this was worse than I thought it was going to be. VERY SORE, but getting better. How long do the gas pains hang around? I have been pushing myself to get up, shower, etc. to help get rid of these pains, but they keep hanging around. I am looking forward to tomorrow, every day should get easier. Thanks for all the prayers and encouraging words.

    Today is the day!

Thanks I will. I thought I would be nervous, but right now excitement. I am sure the nerves will come closer to 12:00 noon, that's scheduled surgery tIme. Definitely will give an update and planning on great progress reports too.
  17. I have been back and forth with insurance company. Was initially told should be 1-2 weeks, but they keep asking for more and more information (which my surgeon says has never been requested before). I went ahead and started my pre-op diet so when they give the approval, then I could proceed with surgery. I am on now 4 weeks of liquids/shakes, etc. just ready to get this behind me and start my new life!!! I have spoken with the insurance company several times and believe me they don't get in any hurry!!!
