My surgery date is May 27th. My husband is really trying to be supportive. His father passed away on the 8th of May after a year long battle with liver cancer and I am feeling slightly selfish. My surgery is now 16 days away. My mother thinks I should push it back 2 months, but I really don't want to. Selfish?
Got a call from my Surgeon's office changing my day from May 22nd to May 20th. When I got home there was a letter in the mail saying that the insurance only approved me tor 1 night in the hospital. That's scary! I am having a hernia repair as well as a lower esophageal sphincter repair and the sleeve. I haven't quite freaked out yet, but I'm on the verge.
I'm not due for surgery until late May, but I feel absolutely the same. I will be telling my boss I am having a hiatal hernia repair, and call it quits. My boss is one of the worst gossips of the bunch. I have lost weight before and no one says anything directly to me except for the creepy guy across the hall that throws out an occasional looking good. I want to focus on me and not be concerned with what others opinion's are about my WLS choice.
I have this husband see.... and he is increasingly insecure that I will leave him if I have the sleeve surgery. I read the statistics and I see that the divorce rate is high for couples after bariatric surgery. We have been going to marriage counseling as an effort to ease his insecurities, but I really am not concerned that I will decide to up and leave my husband. I tell him as long as he is as supportive as he can be and we keep communication open we should be fine. Have any of you experienced marital issues pre/post op?
Also, on a much shallower note.....my main concern is whether or not I will lose my hair.
I'm in Houston with a goal of the end of May. The surgeon thinks its doable, as long as I continue to meet all of my insurance requirements. I am also extremely excited and scared.
