  1. Oh, and our bariatric Dr is "one of the top bariatric drs in Texas". Ya, that's what they all say. Whatever. Neglect is neglect, and I hold grudges. Sorry, I'm still not over it and my whole experience with him.
  2. I agree. Even our family Dr overrode our bariatric Dr on our frequency of eating and I agreed with him. There's been a few unrealistic "rules" our bariatric Dr tells his patients that are against common sense even. We no longer go to him, for those and other major reasons. Like I said, I drink less air with a straw than I do just drinking out of a cup. To each his/her own.
  3. He blew a gasket at you?? Or at the nurses?
  4. (4 months post op) Did fine, no problems except sweet potato got stuck. Had to let it go so I could eat more. Turkey (any meat for that matter) can easily get stuck for me but did ok this time. It helped that it was just a turkey breast, not the whole turkey, and I think it was processed or something. Made it easier to eat rather than the dry, hard cooked turkey. Tried the ham too but it came already sweetened and I don't do sweetened meats. yuck. Already on to leftovers! YUM I'm noticing that the more carbs I eat the hungrier I feel. What's up with that??? I finally broke the stall and I noticed I have been eating more carbs than before. I have got to get this all figured out. So frustrating. They stress eating Protein protein protein and more protein and when I do I don't have any room for the veggies and fruits or anything else. When eating the protiens I wasn't as hungry either, now that I've added the carbs I'm not feeling satisfied and feel like I'm eating too much and too much junk yet I broke the stall and finally losing again. I've also taken a break from exersize this week. Coincidence? I wasn't losing weight when excersizing and when I stop I start to lose the weight. This is all so confusing.
  5. Side say with a straw you sick in more air and that's what can stretch the stomach. right after refusemy surgery I felt I was swallowing more air when not using a straw and a straw helped reduce the air. I guess everyone is different with everything and sometimes Drs aren't always right.
  6. I have a few regrets and one was going through him and his office and not trusting my gut a couple of times. We won't be going back. I AM happy that you are happy with him and you had a great experience though
  7. Whereas I don't recommend him if you want a personable, nice bedside, Dr and don't want to be ignored and neglected. Office staff aren't pleasant either. Except for the Nutritionist. He does do a fine job on surgery though. I've had no issues.
  8. I'm just going to eat what we normally eat just in smaller proportions. I'm even going to have a bite or two of candied sweet potatoes (recipe a bit modified of course) and a small piece of pumpkin cheesecake. No regrets for this one day a year.
  9. I haven't noticed a difference between using a straw and not using a straw.
  10. I like it. It's not pretty like some of the bracelets are but I want it to be obvious it's a medical bracelet, not a decorative one that I'm afraid they'll look over. I bought it at CVS. It's easy to put in all my medical history and updates. I biggest fear is getting in an accident and not being able to communicate that no med works on me for pain except for Demerol. The first thing they give is Morphine and it has no affect on me at all My bariatric dr refused to give me Demerol and made me suffer after surgery, even after me telling him morphine, diuludad and other pain meds don't work on me. I don't want to go through that pain again! Now I just hope they'll believe me and give me something that works. There's got to be something else besides Demerol that works on me but we haven't found it yet.....
  11. Loriemoms, could you ask your husband if he's ever come across someone with a bracelet you stick in the computer and get all the health info on? I wear one of those but also thinking about getting one with the info written right there in it since its quicker.
  12. Where do you buy that and do your intestines grumble line crazy and do you get cramping?
  13. Weird. I would think the more stricture releases they do the weaker it gets.
  14. Hiya :-) Been well. On another freagin stall. Stuck at 175 still but feeling good. Been resizing almost every day for the last 6,7 weeks, don't notice much of a change physically doing that. Still eating healthier than before surgery but I read what people on here are eating and I'm at a loss. Seems too difficult/complicated. I'm lucky if I can get dinner made. Lol would rather just drink the Protein and shove all the fruits/veggies in a blender and drink then too. Lol food is annoying. Trying to figure out what to eat is annoying too. How many more procedures are you going to have to do? Can't they put in a shunt or something?? I hate that you are going through all this My husband is fine too. No problems. Finally off of the Coumadin. No more blood clot. Yay!
  15. Old thread, I know, but I'm finding that by the time I'm done eating my protein at every meal I'm too full to eat the veggies/fruit so I haven't been eating much of those at all. How are we supposed to do this?? Still don't feel like I'm getting enough protein either so I drink a Premier. I'm thinking maybe emulsifying (I have a Ninja Bullet. I hope that does the job) fruits and veggies and drinking them between the protein meals will help? What do you think?
  16. We fired or bariatric surgeon @ 3 mo post op (last month) and switched to our pcp. Unfortunately he doesn't exactly know when to do the testing. I read somewhere we are supposed to get bw done every 6 months for the rest of our lives but that seems a bit too much to me, especially if it's constantly good. It's pricey too!
  17. I'm just curious how often people REaLLY get their blood work/vitamin/mineral/etc testing done. I read somewhere it's supposed to get done every 6 months for the rest of our lives but I find that hard to believe that most people follow that. I'm not judging if you don't because honestly, I doubt I will either after a while due to cost, good consistent bw results, etc.but will probably do it once a year after a few initial times of good bw. I'm only four months out now and my 3 month bw was all great. I'm not quite sure when to get it done again though. Our bariatric Dr (er, former since we fired him) wouldn't do bw until 6 months post op so I had our family Dr run it all at 3 months. Should I get it done again at 6 mos post op or wait 6 months? Our family doctor doesn't know either but he'll do whatever/whenever we want it done.
  18. Same here!!!! I was a size 22 preop 4 months ago and I needed new jeans. Tried on 16's, too big. Tried on 14's, too big. NO WAY! Can't be?! Tried on 12's SKINNY jeans and they fit!!! Actually, I have to wear a belt with them because the waist is a little big but the legs are fine. I can't even remember when I was a size 12!! So weird. Lol After my twins were bitten 11 yrs ago I went from 226 to 175 in a matter of days but I wasn't in a size 12 from what I can remember. At most a 16. So congrats!!! This is exciting!!!
  19. Ya, that doesn't work on me either neither does morphine or diluadid. :/
  20. Mine is not sure to a lack of protein. I know that for sure. In fact, my bw protein level was good. It's from the rapid weight loss+anesthesia, or just the anesthesia.
  21. Questions you do NOT ask people who have had bariatric surgery (or frankly, anyone): #1) are you supposed to eat that? 2) are you eating too much? 3) is that all you're going to eat? 4) Any good buffets we can go to around here? And I wish they'd stop asking how we're eating and how much weight we've lost every time they call. I wish they'd just mind their own business. I will volunteer this info if/when I feel like bringing it up but I have a life and its not centered around what I eat. Sorry for the vent. One set of my in laws (the ones I can't stand) are visiting and these are some questions they've asked. #1 question really irks me. How do YOU respond to questions like these? How do I make them stop asking? I know they are just curious but I don't ask them what they've eaten that day or ask them how much they've eaten our make comments about how much or what they are eating or if he's eating heathy with his health issues...... you know?
