  1. Go to a nude beach and show everyone what you got!!! In all seriousness, I just want to throw it out there that CharlotteKat is a very dear friend of mine and she looks absolutely amazing. I met her in the fall and cannot believe how stunning and beautiful she looks. I had the surgery about a year before she did and she inspires me every day to stay on the "program". She is a shining example of a success story.

    Bad news

I was one week into my two week pre-surgery fast and my doctor cancelled my surgery indefinitely. He "claimed" that he had some issue with another bariatric surgeon that he had to work out before he could do any more surgeries. I was devastated. When I got home, I Googled him and saw his mug shot on line. Turns out he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and THAT is what he was dealing with. I had to find another surgeon and go through the whole process again. Three months later I finally had the surgery done by a really good doctor. Glad I dodged the bullet of having a crazy man do my surgery.

Am I asking for too much?

I lost 20 pounds in the two week pre-surgery "fast". You are doing all that you can do at this point so don't freak out if you don't hit your target. Look at it long term and how in one year...you will look and feel so wonderful. I can tell you that for me...doing this has changed my life...all for the better. Good luck to you.

    Upcoming surgery worries..

This will be the best decision you've ever made for yourself. I'm sure that doctor was just trying to see what kind of reaction she'd get from you. That was really uncalled for though. Stay tough and strong and know that you are doing the right thing for yourself.
  5. I was in the hospital for 6 days after my surgery and gained 30 pounds!!!!! IN 6 DAYS!!!! It will come off soon and you'll be so happy that you've done this for yourself.
  6. Hi everyone! I just love this supportive group of people. Anyway, I am now 1 year post op and down 140 pounds with another 50 to go and I'm at a 4 week stall. I'm eating about 1100 calories a day and exercising 6 days a week. What can I do to shake off the plateau? Should I eat less calories? I'm scared I'll go into starvation mode and not lose anything that way. Should I just sit back and relax and wait for the plateau to pass? Advice anyone?

    Craving pickles!

I make my own pickles and eat tons of them each day. I just use salt, vinegar, splenda and little celery seed. That's it and they are SO good and they keep me busy eating. Love them! If anyone wants the exact recipe, let me know.

    Post Op procedures

I had that awful tube down my nose into my stomach pumping bile out for about 5 days. It was horrible...sorry. I have a bad gag reflex and that didn't help any. However, I did what I had to do to get better. You'll get though it! And ultimately...having this surgery will change your life. Good luck to you. You'll be fine.
  9. I'm 7 months post op and am still struggling with knowing how many calories I should be eating each day. I know everyone's doctor is different. I'm just trying to get some idea of how much others are taking in. My doctor says 800 is too much and his own dietician is telling me I'm not eating enough and should have about 950 per day. I feel like banging my head against the wall. I'd greatly appreciate knowing what others are doing or have done at this point post op. Thanks!

    Post Op Calorie Count

I wish there was just one master set of guidelines. Doctor's instructions seem to be all over the place.

    Post Op Calorie Count

My dietician said as long as I keep my Protein level up to 80 - 100, then not to worry about calories or carbs. I'm drinking about 70oz. of Water per day. My average loss is 2 pounds per week. I just worry that I'm eating too much (900 calories per day which includes about 75 calories of vitamins). If I eat too little, they say I'll go into "starvation mode" but if I eat too much, I won't lose any weight! What to do, what to do????

    Post Op Calorie Count

Djmohr - I am seeing 2 different dieticians and they would both say that you are eating way too few calories and your body is in starvation mode. I know it goes against what we've always learned....cut down on calories, but maybe you should try adding Protein drinks to bump up your calories. It is all very frustrating!

Where are All the August Sleevers

They are probably in the SLEEVE forum. This is for RNY.
  14. Hi! I'm 5 months post surgery and I'm losing literally around 1000+ hairs per day. I can now see my scalp through my hair and I'm sure I'm only a few weeks away from needing a wig. My Protein intake is high (approx. 95 grams per day) and I have been taking Biotin 2X per day for the past 4 months. My doctor wants me to use Rogaine, but as a woman, I'm a little nervous about side effects. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd be very grateful for any help.
  15. Thanks everyone for your insight. I'm already doing everything that has been suggested. Lots of Water, Protein, exercise, logging food and nothing seems to help. I'm only having about 700 calories a day now and still I'm only losing about 1 pound a week. I've talked to two different dieticians and they both tell me I'm doing everything right. I cry every time I think about it so at least I'm losing water weight, I suppose.
  16. I had my bypass done in April and feel like the weight is barely trickling off me. I gained 30 pounds the first week post op and finally took that off. I've been losing only an average of 2 pounds per week and am now questioning why I even had this surgery. I had lost more on Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig and a variety of other diets. I was told that the biggest loss will come in the first 3 - 6 months. I'm worried that this 2 pound per week loss will be the height of my success if this is my prime period to lose. I'm feeling awfully depressed and sorry for myself. If anyone could offer any advice, I'm be very grateful.
  17. I only weigh myself once a week at the doctor's office so I'm not tied to the scale but I must admit the slow losses are taking their toll on me.
