  1. Itsmekarenlee, yes a small percent of people get it. My Dad died from Barrett's many years ago that increases my chance of getting it even higher. I haven been on Prilosec and a few others over the years but was not treated the way I should be . For years I took one pill a day in the morning and it was a low dose. Now my gastroenterologist doctor increase the dose ore than doubled it and to take it twice a day before breakfast and with dinner. I have to go back in three months for a checkup.
  2. Princessm, no I did not have my surgery yet. However, my surgeon is pushing up the date for surgery from Sept to early Aug.because of my Barrette's esophagus.
  3. "]One year ago today was my surgery. Starting weight was 285, at 5 foot 2. Now I'm down 115 pounds with 20 pounds til goal. So happy with the changes this has made in my life, heck, I'm a green belt in taekwondo now! Before surgery walking to and from my car was all the "exercise" I got! Not good with attchments, we'll see if this works. Your pictures look fantastic! Congrats keep up the hard work.
  4. I Was suppose to have the sleeve but because of Barrett's I have to have the gastric bypass. My original date was for September now it will be early August. My surgeon is writing a letter To the insurance company asking for the date to be in early August... I pray this can be done.
  5. I'm so glad I did the endoscopy because they discovered I have barrettes esophagus which are pre cancer cells. It saved my life.i wanted the sleeve but was told I have to have gastric bypass instead.

  11. My endoscopy results were not as good as I wanted. I have Barrettes esophagus which are pre cancer cells. I wanted the sleeve today my surgeon said I can't get the sleeve because of Barrettes so now I have to have the bypass. My surgery date is August 18th. I'm a little disappointed.not having the sleeve. I'm so worried about dumping syndrome. I'm if I don't eat fats and sugar I should be alright. Can someone tell how they are doing with the bypass surgery. How long where you out of work?
  12. I went to see Dr. Gandsas today I'm not able to have the gastric sleeve done because I have Barrett's esophgus so I'm getting the gastric bypass done on August 18th. I'm a little disappointed...
  13. I finished all my tests, have 3 more visits with the nutritionist, two more visits with the surgeon. Nest Wednesday I see the surgeon I'm so excited to see him and hear about all my test results and find out my surgery date. September Can't get here fast enough.
  14. Dr. Alex Gandsas runs the Bariatric surgery center at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He's the best. I can't wait for my surgery in September.
  15. I'm going on my 2nd visit with Dr. Gandsas June 4th. My surgery date should be August/September...I hope August. How was your surgery Angie? Sonja when is your surgery. I really like Dr. Gandsas.
  16. While ago a few people mention the brand name of some delicious sounding whey protein powder. Can someone please tell the name of some good whey protein powder.
  17. I wish I had to wait 3months. Six months is a long time...at least for it is.
  18. I just finished all my pre op test. I have my dietary and exercise classes. Dietary is monthly and exercise is twice a week. I see my surgeon again in June.

  20. Soniaj I started the process in March 25 and I was approved then. I just have one more test done on Tuesday and I'm done with all my tests. I just have 5 more diet and nutri classes left. I will have my surgery in September.
  21. Yes I think he is a wonderful doctor. How was your visit with dr. Gandsas go?
  22. Today I got my biopsy back and I do have Barrett's esophagus. I want to get the sleeve done in September but now my surgeon said I may not be able to get the sleeve but instead have a bypass...which I really don't want.The doctor has put me on pantomedzole for two months then have another endoscopy done. Has anyone had this problem?
  23. Me too. I have an EKG and psychology test left. I will complete mt test within the next two weeks.
  24. Im one and a half months into the process of getting the sleeve. I'm finding it hard to get my butt moving to go for walks. I also was a huge ice cream eater which I stopped eating it a while ago. Just yesterday I bought some and ate it then I was so mad at myself. I'm I know I should start out like 10 minutes a day. I guess I just needed to get that off my chest.
