I've hit a bit of a wall...
I did recently add walking stairs at work, and giving up a few food and drink indulgences that were doing me no favors.

I've hit a bit of a wall...
I hear you! I've been at a standstill for months. But today I joined a gym and tomorrow I start my first day with a personal trainer. I just wasn't ready to exercise until now. The veterans here swear that exercise makes the difference, and once it becomes a routine, it even becomes enjoyable. I decided it was time. I want to get to goal weight and I'm fifty pounds away from that.

Well, I joined a gym and start with a personal trainer tomorrow. I'm so darned excited I can't stand it. Today was a great day. I went to a local restaurant alone for dinner and ordered perch. Leaving food on my plate wasn't even hard. I think I might finally be getting the hang of listening to my band.

30 days to band
It will be here before you know it! Try to make some habit changes now if you can. It will lessen your nervousness and make the post op period an easier transition. Examples are walking, no drinking with meals, chewing slowly, etc. How exciting! Best of luck to you!

Doing well here. Food was clean yesterday. Only got 2/3 of my stairs in. Looking into gyms. I want the scale to move and it ain't gonna happen without working out. I have a CODA meeting tonight so that will be affirming. Breakfast was bacon, lunch will be chicken strips, dinner uncertain. Maybe fish.- The lady at the pool
Possibly. That's a good idea. Now if the suggestion can just come from somebody other than me so she doesn't bite my head off, that would be great.- The lady at the pool
It's a vicious circle. My mom is unable to exercise and can barely walk. Water is the only place she can move well, due to her size and rheumatoid arthritis. But she's so self conscious about getting in and out of the water that she won't go to a pool. Forget the beach. She's unsure of her footing on sand, so that became a thing of the past a decade ago. Her life has become narrower and narrower. It saddens me but there's nothing anyone else can do.- Gyms - your opinions
Planet Fitness is a little farther away, but I will check them out -- thanks!- Gyms - your opinions
Thanks ! I'm going to look into Curves too.- Gyms - your opinions
Yes there's an LA Fitness pretty close by. I tried beginner yoga a few months ago with comical results. My knees cracked so loudly that they sounded like machine gun fire. I ended up laughing too much and decided maybe yoga isn't for me.- Accountability Group

So true. That's my problem though. I've only been able to stick to it when I have a routine and a place to go. When I went to the YMCA years ago I actually changed clothes at work before I left the building. If I didn't do that, it was too tempting to just drive home and skip my workout.- Gyms - your opinions
I did three Aqua Zumba courses last year and loved them. Problem is it was only one day a week and the water stuff really used up a lot of time. On top of that they moved it outdoors and into the daytime during the summer! The water stuff is lots of fun.- Gyms - your opinions
Looks like that chain isn't in my area. But those are good tips. Thanks!- Gyms - your opinions
Hi. I've postponed an exercise program as long as I could. I know that to lose some more and get fit I need to take the next step. And now I want to. I'm a 54 year old female with arthritis in my knees, so jogging won't work. I do enjoy walking but what I'd really like to do is get toned and fit. I know that this loose skin won't go away, but before I consider a TT next year I'd like to strengthen my muscles as much as possible. I've lost 100 pounds and want to lose 50 more. But more than the weight, I want to get muscle definition and tone. I'd be content losing just another 30 if I was fit and lean. Years ago I was able to commit to an exercise routine (jogging) by going to the YMCA right from work. I ran the track for three miles. I can't do that anymore. My knees can't take it. I tried. But I'd like to start training (is it called strength training?) on machines, etc. to strengthen my arms and legs and stomach area. I recently saw a picture of a young bodybuilder I know. She's just a kid, but she transformed herself from a plump teenager into a whole different person. I know that's not achievable for me, but somehow seeing a person I know completely change her body gave me hope for "some" change. For those of you who started the exercise thing at an older age like me, what gym did you like and why? Do most of them have trainers to help you? I know many folks have success with home videos etc., but if I don't get my butt physically to a gym every day right after work, I just won't do it. What are the pros and cons of the different big chains? Cost is a factor but I can budget a reasonable amount. Thank you for your input. (Be kind.)- My First Roadblock
I just want to lend some emotional support as well, and encourage you to never give up. Keep seeking help and make some noise. You deserve health and happiness!- starting over
Never ever give up on yourself. Every single day we make a decision to take care of ourselves or not. Today you have chosen to take care of yourself. Build on that and you can't go wrong. Welcome back.- Accountability Group
When we need a change, we change it up. Not a lifetime commitment. Just a new approach today. Good luck. I'll bet it helps. I do log sometimes now but only when I really don't know the calories in something. However, if I'm eating the usual boring standbys then I know the numbers. The first bank deposit from NSETBEx came in today. Four days late but it came. I'm having weird emotions about it but I'll talk it over with my therapist tonight. Glad to have that support. My Sunday was a delectable brunch with a wide selection of Desserts. Holy moly. I sampled everything but amazingly left a lot on my plate. I didn't feel the need to finish it all. Too much sugar left me a little sluggish. No champagne. I caved and ordered my Thai curry noodles for supper but the restaurant screwed up and gave me rice. Lol. Therefore it wasn't as bad for my diet as it could have been because I only ate a little of the rice. I really love the noodles. Today back on track and back to Protein. Lots of Water too. One more set of stairs to go. I'm considering joining a gym for strength training. I don't know. Just tossing that idea around.- Rant about Commercial Posts
