Asked to delay
I never would've told my employer why or what about any surgery whether I work at a hospital or not. It's the Hippa act for a reason and they too are not omitted from abiding by your personal medical records and using them against you shame on them. What if it's more to your surgery than meets the eye? What if it was them? No there's nothing wrong with waiting for December if that's what YOU choose, but, what if you don't? Will you be reprehended for that? FMLA is for your use of ANY medical condition that requires time off 2-3 days or more with visits or overnight stays to a hospital. Obesity is a medical condition that if not treated, can lead to other medical conditions. The sooner treated, the better. I didn't and never will tell my employer. My career job is with the government and they could care less about your health they just want you there, at work. Good luck.

Playing the waiting game BCBS TX
I don't feel bad for calling my insurance everyday since July 21...... They don't feel bad for having me anxiously waiting for my file to come out of "review" after they make you do 6 months nutrition/dietician, physicshiatrist eval, prep group, support group and they already know you're overweight be it just that, obese, morbidly obese, super obese or whatever other name that they can think of instead of just helping you when the conclusion is, after everything else failed over the years, is WLS. I don't get it..... Then they tell me that they have up to 30 days to approve or disapprove the procedure!

Dr. Prachard university of chicago hospitals
I'm now done with the requirements of my insurance and surgeon team. I'm now awaiting approval from my insurance and my surgery date! So far, I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Prachard and team at the University of Chicago Hospitals. I am beyond excited! I'm also in constant emails with Laura, (she gathers all information, make sure it's correct and sends all of everything to your insurance for approval) and she returns all calls and emails:)

What are you most proud of since wls? Or what are you striving for? Most memorable moment?
This thread is so inspirational! Thanks for thinking of this! I'm emotional just reading all of your success stories and what you're most proud of after your WLS! I haven't had my VSG surgery of choice as of yet, still waiting on insurance approval but I'm optimistic and very excited to say I can't wait to wear the size fit for my 4'11 height and become athletic! I'm extremely proud of everyone in this forum and I can't wait to be able to actually post my own "after" story

Fab 40's shout out
I just came across this awesome thread! I'm not 40 yet but will be in 5 months. I joined BP February this year 2014 looking to interact with people just like you! I started my journey in hopes of being sleeved well before my 40th birthday in January 2015. I'm done with all of the requirements and now I'm just waiting on insurance approval and surgery date! I am happily married to my supportive husband 17 years in September. We have 4 children. I am 5'0 -- 4'11 give or take, weighing the most I've ever been in my life! (I may share stats when I get my date) I suffered two major oji's in 9 years as well as weight gain comorbidities! I'm ready to be back in my right mind and enjoy the rest of our lives together at almost the same size as when we met:)
