What is your theme song?
I would have to say "DIVA" by Beyoncé. "Now now now diva is the female version of a hustla, of a hustla, of a of a hustla". Both the song and the video give me POWER! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNM5HW13_O8

am i bulimic
Honey, I am so sorry you're having this issue. I believe if you are not compulsively making yourself vomit, then that is not bulimia. However, I hope for your health you talk to a therapist about your feelings. I had a very similar convo with my therapist (who specializes in disordered eating, among other things) and it made me feel SO MUCH better when I was "spittin up" all the time. As far as the black stuff, I think you should call your doctor immediately. Also, are you eating slowly and keeping your portions small? the only time I involuntarily toss my "cookies" is when I eat too much too fast.

May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!
Say Hey Willie May Sleevers! I just had my 2nd post-op appt today, 26 days out. I'm down 13.5 lbs from surgery in about 4 weeks. It's important not to compare myself to others!! Weight is just one metric in this ongoing journey. I'm down a size in clothing! My doc said, "if you were on a diet, And you lost this amount of weight, you'd be doing cartwheels down the hallway of my office". it's good to have perspective. I'm currently in a 14 day "pureed foods" period. I am most comfortable with liquids and still have another 9 days before starting "soft" foods. @@pjpanda VitaFusion is so good! I take the Fiber gummies and I actually look forward to it! (chewing is fun) My NUT emphatically stated "Gummy Vitamins are crap" but I also know that some doctors specifically tell people to get the gummies, so I don't worry about it too much.

Light at the end of the tunnell
Thank you for sharing your story with us! It's very important to hear. I'm 26 days out and I'm finding myself wishing time away- and that's never good. It's important to remember that these first few months are the hardest in many ways. I'm glad you're ok!

Day 4 post op, are your wounds still covered?
Mine were covered in glue but one glue thing fell off after 2 days. It seemed fine. I'm 20 days out and mine are healing up great!

This is really hard.
My doctor gave me Norco, which is tylenol + vicodin. I was feeling great! I feel very blessed that I didn't have much pain...but it was probably also my every-6-hour regimen that I followed for the first week. So, pain meds, and walking! Good luck to you!

IF YOU COULD tell yourself this 1 thing BEFORE U HAD SURGERY what would THAT BE?
I would tell myself that even scaredy cats can get through surgery and it's nowhere near as bad as you think!

May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!
hey there girls and boys. How is week 3 treating you? I am 10 lbs down and have maintained for the last 3 days. Trying not to get pissed about "slow" weight loss. 10 lbs in 17 days isn't too bad- it took me over 6 months to lose 31# pre-op!

Seriously mourning food :(
Oh my gosh, it drives me NUTS sometimes! I saw this person who wrote, "My sleeve makes me stop eating, but my head is screaming at me to keep eating" or something like that. When you have food issues, this surgery basically forces us to stare down those issues. It's hard! That's why I am a huge proponent of ongoing counseling/therapy for people with food addiction/abuse/issues. Talk therapy has really helped me feel less "crazy" and "trapped in my own head". Many people who are/were overweight use food for reasons other than energy and to fuel our bodies. Figuring out what my reasons are is a big part of the recovery process for me.

40 LBS DOWN!
'Morning y'all! This is my first post in the "SUCCESS STORIES" section and that alone feels like a NSV, even though this is a weight-related post. I am 13 days out from my surgery and have lost a total of about 9 lbs during that time. It's not 24 lbs or even 15, but it's NINE POUNDS IN 13 DAYS, I'll take it! My big moment this morning was when I realized that including my pre-op weight loss, I've lost 40 lbs!! Woo hoo!! I'm 40 lbs down from the heaviest weight of my life, 291. Never going back again!

end of the world
Honey, I'm so sorry. There has to be an appeal process. If you're feeling anger and negative emotions, maybe you could put that energy to use by mounting yourself a strong appeal case. It could give you a defined "next step"; something to work towards.

How much could you eat 2 weeks post op?
I'm 12 days out & still on liquids. Progress to purees in 2 more days, yay! I can fit about 3.5 oz of liquids in my tummy. I've heard there's more restriction with solid food, but it is still so early, we can't really know how much the final volume of our new, healed stomachs will be.

May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!
I was sleeved at 11:16 AM on May 23, 2014. I lost 5 lbs on Day 3, and have been hovering between 154.8-155.6 for almost a week. I probably need to lay off the scale but there's just that intense feeling of validation when your weight drops- I'm still waiting on that. Even though it's WAY TOO early to be bugging about this, a loss shows I didn't go through this for nothing. Except, I'm following my surgeon's instructions to the letter, and I probably just need to chillax and get through the first few weeks, which I am hoping are the hardest

Milk products = no go
Lindsay, I am 9 days post op as well and I feel like you somehow GOT IN MY BRAIN and are writing the exact things I'm thinking! I was so worried about pain and the surgery- but I've felt great. Protein and fluids, though- that has been the difficult part. Dairy especially is hurting my tummy BAD, but that's where all of my "full liquids" seem to be coming from. I've been drinking a lot of kefir, which at least has strong probiotic properties. The food cravings (for "real food") are crazy, especially when you consider that there's NO WAY we're actually "hungry", with all the recent trauma to our stomachs. Nevertheless, I have dreaming about Pasta mosts nights and when my FH makes his grilled chicken & veggie w/ brown rice dinner every night, it smells like my grandma's homemade lasagna. Which is to say, regular old "healthy" food smells delicious and like a culinary masterpiece. I am constantly telling myself it is in my head and that my "nutrition sludge*" is super good for me and keeping me alive right now. * Nutrition sludge is the affectionate nickname that I call my daily shake. Every morning I mix a Premier Protein chocolate shake with 6 ounces of Silk light soymilk, 2 servings of Benefiber, one serving of Sunsweet Suprafiber, one dose of MiraLAX and I sip on that for most of the morning and afternoon. It tastes okay, but it looks like sludge. Also on Day 9 it's getting kind of old.

Depression at 6 months?
I know depression and anxiety all too well and I'm sorry that you're going through this. This might make you unfriend me, but have you switched up your exercise routine lately? That can really get the endorphins going!! I am getting a little mopey 9 days out and I'd feel so much better if I could go hiking...doc wants me to wait 30 days.

Brave before/after swimsuit pics!
You look so happy and beautiful. You're SO BRAVE w/ the swimsuit pics, believe me, there's only one bathing suit picture of me in existence, its from 2007, and I want to erase all copies. It's the truth, though. You look happy and beautiful in both your Bs & As, congratulations to you!
