  1. Thanks Leepers. I will definitely ask more question. I didn't know ports came in different sizes.
  2. Seems odd to me as well!!.. He assured me that you wouldn't notice it from the outside but I'm still a bit apprehensive about it. He said I would have an incision under my arm to place it! That seems odd as well! Am I gonna have to keep my arm raised it heals??.
  3. I'm about 2 hours south of ATL.
  4. Thanks, I think I want mine in that area too.
  5. Great job!! What a way to start! Keep up the good work!!!
  6. Best wishes!! Definitely NOT the easy way out! We still have to work and make good food choices. You got this!!.
  7. My port will be placed in my chest. I would like to hear from land Banders that have it in the stomach and those that have in the chest. Does it really make a difference or am I being paranoid about it being in my chest. I really don't want it there but surgeon says it's easier to locate there. Have you all noticed any scaring from fills?
  8. Are there any Banders in the South Georgia Area in the pre or post op stage??
  9. Not banded yet but have been on a zillion diets. Protein is does build muscle and muscle in turn burns fat. Muscle does weigh more than fat, however I would gladly take a gain in a few pounds of muscle over a gain of fat any day! I wouldn't be so concerned with the amt of protein as I would the number of calories in the powder and other ingredients in the shake. If your shake is relatively low in calories that should be fine. I have always been encouraged to use the whey protein because it's better absorbed by the body.
  10. Keep us all posted Bill! I think we all are a bit nervous! Congrats and best of luck to you on your journey.
  11. This is gonna be great for all of us!!!! The end of searching for what works!! Let's stay positive and keep each other motivated!! My surgeon says to give the first year all you've got!!(since that's usually when the majority of weight comes off) Cheers to the beginning of the end of our weight struggle. My pre-op diet officially starts on March 12th but I've began incorporating some things into my diet now! Monday I will start 100% Monday. I figure why wait till then to start. Hoping I can get at least 20-25 gone before surgery date.
  12. Is there anyway to prevent hair loss? That was one thing I was afraid of.
  13. March 26th! Can't wait!! Start pre-op diet on March 12th! Congrats and good luck to all!
  14. Pre-op diet starts March 12th and Surgery March 26th. Super excited!! I think I'm obessed!!..lol..I keep researching, watching YouTube videos, browsing this site, can't stop thinking about it! I'm really praying this ends my WL battle!
  15. I am only using 3 of my days but we have spring break tht following week. This will give me a total of 12 days including weekends. My surgeon actually told me the same thing. This will give me plenty time for my body (and mind) to have adjusted before going back to work. I don't wanna be at work burping and passing gas!! I'm praying all tht will have stopped by then!
  16. Not doing a whole lot right now.. Just trying to cut back and get into the routine of exercising. Also trying different protien shakes.
  17. Congrats to you! I'm being banded on the 26th of March!
  18. I have BCBSIL, my information was submitted to the insurance company around January 6/7. I received approval February 6. I initially started everything back in December. I had 3 "education" sessions during that time. My surgery date is set for March 26. But I could have had it sooner but I choose dates to work around my schools spring break. My process was surprisingly VERY fast compares to other stories I have read. I was really surprised to be approved so soon. Hope this helps! I am lapband not sure exactly how different the process is.
  19. Congrats! Yes, I know that's a big deal!! Keep up the good work!
  20. Blissfullybanded your count down begins! How is the preop diet going? Really wish I could do mine sooner but I'm a teacher and don't want to use a lot of my days so I'm working around our spring break schedule. Best of luck to you!
  21. Wow!! B4Tim! Tomorrow is your "big" day that begins the "little" you!! Sending prayers your way! Please keep us posted!
  22. Hi! Angela So happy to find someone in my area! I'm about 45 minutes from you! Hope you get some relief soon! I have my surgery on March 26. Message me and let me know that size clothing you need!
  23. I started my journey in December 2013, I received my approval phone call on Feb 6, 2014. I have set my date for March 26! I am very excited! Wasn't nervous at first but now that I know I can actually have the surgery, the butterflies are starting! Hope I can do this! Some people think the lapband are for cheaters that want an "easy" quick fix! But little do they know!! But I'm ready for the challenge! Looking forward to better health and finding cute clothes on the clearance rack! Good luck to all! (sorry title should be EXCITED!) couldn't figure out how to change!
