  1. Hi All, Im 38 and had gastric sleeve surgery almost 2 years ago now. I originally lost about 80 pounds and have regained about 20 after having fallen into poor eating habits again...also I had been jogging until a few months ago and was finally getting back on track until my knee gave out (through MRI found that I have ostioarthritis in my knee and am bone on bone). I am now not only struggling with trying to find a good cardio solution but just getting back to getting my head in the game. Any tips/pointers, things that have worked for any of you to achieve your goals? Just looking for some support/encouragment that its still possible even years out of surgery. I am currently 225 and would like to be at 160. Second question...is it possible to get back to feeling restriction again? Third question..how does a person determine if they need a revision? Thanks so much. Sent from my SM-G925W8 using the BariatricPal App
  2. Not sure how this thread ended up in this category? Lol...fat fingers I suppose? Anyways...appreciate all your responses. I dont have a NUT as I paid to have have my surgery in Mexico, but perhaps Ill get in touch with one privately to go over my needs. Thank you all again...perhaps logging in more than once every two years may help too Sent from my SM-G925W8 using the BariatricPal App

  4. Thanks for your response! At this point, 2 years out...I am not even sure what my caloric intake should be and how it should be broken out in terms of how much protein to consume etc...any advice on this? Sent from my SM-G925W8 using the BariatricPal App

Hi Ginaa, I had a wonderful experience in Mexico and was reimbursed some of my costs through Alberta Health Care. I saw Dr. Jamie Ponce de Leon in Tijuana. I did go through his Canadian coordinator Debra through Weight no more consulting so everything was done for me...all I really needed to do was get on the plane. The hospital was very clean and the nursing staff and surgical team were excellent. The nurses spoke very little english, but the knew the basics like "pain", "hurt", "ok", "good" etc. I never felt unsafe or uncared for in the least. A couple members of the surgical team regularly checked in on me and their english was excellent. Everything went very fast...essentially as soon as I arrived, I was taken to my room, prepped (bloodwork, ekg, IV hookup, medical history etc), & once cleared went for surgery (I arrived at about 12:30 & was in surgery at around 2:30). Ive been feeling great- did not have any complications at all. I would strongly suggest booking a seat with lots of leg room if youre flying back right after surgery. I flew home on the 3rd day after in a reg seat and was quite uncomfortsble...just would have been nice to have more leg room. Which surgeon are you seeing?

Hi Everyone, I am from Fort Saskatchewan and decided to pay privately to have the VSG surgery in Mexico. I had my surgery on Feb 10th and am slowly losing but feeling great. Im down 54 pounds so far. Looking forward to hearing your stories.
  8. Hi everyone. I had my surgery in Mexico on Feb 10 & am feeling great! I ran out of my prilosec for 3 days and that was TORTURE...Im back on a ppi for 6 months now and hope that eventually Ill get back to where I was and not have to take them. Clothes are definately looser...I find that even if Im not losing pounds, my body is still changing. I stick mainly to eating protein as I can only manage between 2-2.5 ounces of food per meal but Ive tried variations of things and have tolerated everything so far. Up until 2 weekd ago I was walking regularly but then my huge puppy swung his hips into my knee and so now Im laid up...sucks so bad! Im 6.5 weeks out and am almost to 41 pounds lost
  9. This thread is for feb 2013 surgeries...oops. lol

    2/10/14 One Month Check In

Great job ladies! I share the same surgery date and feel great! Im down a total 38.6 pounds (including pre op loss). Ill be so happy when its all gone!
  11. I was sleeved Feb 10th. Including the 10 day pre-op, Im down a total of 37.6 pounds.
  12. Hi everyone! Ive been struggling since my surgery to getvall my fluids in so finally I foundca solution. This keeps me on schedule to get at least 2 litres in a day...just thoughtvI would share what works for me!
  13. I had my surgery almost 4 weeks ago now. I was one of the fortubate ones and had very little gas pain and no nausea. The most useful thing I took with me was a small firm pillow...this helped tremendously as I had to cough lots. I would also pack some really comfy jammies and. ...a pair or two of granny panties - these were my saving grace as my drain was really bothering me so I could just tuck it in my undies and go.
  14. I feel like I am heading into the 3 week infamous stall right now. My surgery was on Feb 10 & I lost pretty consistantly for yhe first week...started slowing doen the 2 ndweek and since March 1st Ive just lost 1 pound....ugh. Im just trying now to focus on my Water intake...I have a mentor who follows me on mfp and everything else is all in line so Im just trying to be patient knowingbthat this is just temporary but its tough!
  15. Oh there are soooo many things that I cant wait to do, but the most exciting thing I cant wait to do is to be intimate with my very best friend and boyfriend of 3 years. Sure, weve had our moments but I am the first plus size woman hes ever been with and although he has always loved me and stood by me my weight has always been the (pardon the pun) "elephant in the room" and it has created tension in our relationship... but still he stands by me. I cant wait to undress or dress in the same room or for him to put his arms around me and pick me up...I just cant wait to finally be out of this body Ive felt trapped in for so many years.
  16. Hi everyone. I had VSG on Feb 10th and have only lost 15 pounds since my surgery. I lost the exact same amount during my 10 day pre-op. I think Im doing everything right so I am quite frustrated at this point. I drink 64 oz of fluids a day, my carbs are at less than 20 g/day, Im getting at least 90 g of Protein in a day and my caloric intake is between 500-600 cal/day. Im also walking 5-6 days a week at a good pace for 45-60 mins each time. Please someone tell me what gives???? Thanks
  17. Thanks for all your feedback. Im just frustrated right now because I was actually losing more prior to being sleeved. Im sure that eventually things will get better it just sucks right now. As far as taking in more calories in a day Im not sure that I could. Im still on purees and can only eat about 1/4 cup atmeals and that combined with protein intake and fluids Im pretty much eating and drinking on a very tight schedule. Im hoping this stage - whatever you want to call it is just my body adjusting to its new self.
  18. Your message was just so well spoken...and I can relate. From one woman whos struggled both through childhood and adulthood with my weight, I can finally see hope too.
  19. Ugh....your post made me cry.
  20. Hi everyone, I am now 2 weeks out from surgery and have consistantly been losing, but it all stopped 3 days ago. I've read a few posts on the forum and this seems to be something that everybody goes through up some point in time or another, but I'm just wondering why exactly does this happen? I have lost almost 30 pounds since starting my 10 day pre-op diet so I'm definitely not complaining and I know that my weight loss will continue but it seems funny to me that the last 3 days when I started incorporating exercise back into my life that my weight loss stopped. I would love to hear what your experiences been with these little "blips" & what did you do to help you get through those periods? Thanks!!

  22. I had my surgery in Mexico and was was given a full write up of the surgery performed, all of my bloodwork and ekg results ( for my records here at home ) PLUS a video of my surgery and a video of my barium swallow. I have not had the courage to watch the video of my surgery yet...too soon!

    VSG: Expectations vs Reality

I would think that the amount of physical activity and exercising at a fat burning heart rate would also play a HUGE factor in a persons weight loss post VSG, jyst as it does in losing weight without weight loss surgery.
  24. I picked up some Vietnamese Pho broth and cut it with zero sodium beef broth....delicious!!
