Waiting In The Er :(
Sorry to hear about your troubles. If you are able to keep liquids down I would wait to do anything with the band slip until you see your LapBand surgeon to see what an expert thinks of your band. I've heard of slips going back into place after a rest (no Fluid in band and only fluids to eat). If the ER doc is getting pushy about your band coming out you might want to ask if they have a bariatric surgeon in their hospital that you can see. You can probably find a LapBand surgeon right on this website that is affiliated with the hospital that you are in. Take care and keep us posted. Sue

Protein Bars....
Hi: I eat them for lunch all the time. Not too many things that have 19 or 20 grams of Protein and less than 200 calories. Actually, I eat them just about a half hour before lunch time because I started walking during my lunch hour again. Trying so hard to get back on track so I can kick this 30 pounds in the &^&. Best wishes to all of us bandsters! Sue

Tummy Tuckers....i Need To Hear From You.... Please!!!
Hi: My advice is to get a spare binder if you can because then you'll always have a clean one to switch to. Also, rest is so important. You'll notice that if you overdo things you'll swell more, so be choosey about what you chose to do or not do so that you can rest more. If your surgeon offers the pain pump, take it. The pain pump was so helpful the first few days with the pain in the muscle tightening area. Best wishes to you. Take care. Sue

Gallbladder Removal
Hi: I got my band July 2007, in March had gallbladder attack. Got gallbladder out in April 2008. Was pretty easy. One helpful tip is to have something really tight to wear over the tummy to keep it from jiggling after the gallbladder surgery. A spanx would do. I never had any bathroom issues because of my gallbladder removal. Fatigue was the only issue post surgery. Took a while for this to go away. Best wishes to you. Keep us posted. Sue

Question You Wished You Had Asked Your Surgeon
I would want to know where the port would be placed. I really like where mine is because it never gets in the way. It is just below my rib cage in the middle. Best wishes to you. Sue

Zike?
Hi: Just wondering does anybody here Zike? It's kind of between a bike and a scooter/stepper. I'm thinking about getting one but the weight limit is 200 and I'm slightly over. Maybe that will be just the incentive I need. If you've ridden one, please let me know how it was. Thanks. Sue

Think My Stomach Is Bruised??
Hi: I think that anytime you having alot of throwing up it disturbs your muscles in your abdomen, whether you're banded or not. You should check in with your lap band doctor if you're having any difficulty at all. My surgeon tells us to call if we are throwing up for any reason. Good luck! Sue

Katie: So one more day and it's your big day! Take care, and rest. You're in very good hands with Dr. H. Drop me a line or post when you feel up to it so that I'll know you're doing well. You already look fabulous! This is the icing on the cake. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and I know that the first couple of days are pretty uncomfortable, but it gets better each day after that. And, it's so worth it! You're very fortunate to be able to have this surgery. Keep smiling . I'll see you on the other side - the side with the flat tummies. Sue

5 Years Banded
Tracy: You truly are a success! It was nice to see you here LBT again. I think it's great that you got down to your low weight and though you gained from there you feel comfortable. Alot of people don't understand how someone can be comfortable when they've lost 100 pounds and then gained 30. I can and appreciate that you shared your experience. Knowing that you feel better at a size 10, but are comfortable in 12-14's is okay. At some point it becomes more about living life and not so much about thinking about every bite that goes into your mouth and how many calories you're burning with exercise. The best part about the band is that if we follow the rules and have the right restriction we can get back down to the low weight again if we want to. I got as low as 174 and I am up over 200 again. I was just talking with my doctor about this yesterday. He said that there is some type of reset that our bodies want to go back to our old weight once we've been so heavy. It just pisses me off that I may have to "diet" again to get back down under 200. Working on getting fills now after being unfilled for a while so that my band can help me. Thanks for updating us. I remember you from before and always enjoyed reading your posts. Take care. Sue
