  1. Before any pre op diets yes I did and was also a huge pop drinker. Now I don't eat any of them and follow my doctors instructions. I had a lot of issues with the band, for one the surgeon who placed my band put it on wrong, and caused me to have major complications with it and left me with some long term effects the the sleeve has helped reversed. Such as acid reflux and ulcers. So I watch what I eat A LOT cause I do not want that coming back ever again.
  2. I had the revision from the band to the sleeve back in November 2013. I am down 106 pounds since I started this journey of becoming healthy and 74 pounds down since surgery. I can say my cravings came back with a vengeance. I crave sweets like its going outta style. I hate exercising but my exercise routine to begin with was walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes at the speed of 3.0 then upped it every other week. Now I do a boot camp challenge, swim, and walk. 4 days out of the week I do the boot camp challenge for 40 minutes, then the rest of the week I swim for 30 minutes and walk at least 2 miles at work during my lunch hour. Hope the surgery does wonders for you, I can say I am much happier without the band. No regrets so far
  3. I had pain like that when I was three days post op because I had a wedding to shoot. I called my surgeon and she told me that I have over done it and its just the muscle that is still tender from surgery. I hope it gets better, the pain was gone for me after a month.
  4. When you go swimming with your old bathing suit and the bottoms fall off when you get out...or when you look in the mirror and notice how skinny you are getting like my shoulders, back, stomach, legs, and boobs.
  5. Lucky! I wish my cup size went up...I went from a 50DDD to a 46C lol what gets me is the sagging more than the cup size. Hopefully when the weight is all off I can qualify for a breast lift and a tummy tuck. (Fingers are crossed)
  6. What I packed today for work was: Mid Morning Snack: 1/2C of Cottage cheese Three cubes of fresh watermelon Lunch: 2oz Swanson canned chicken 2 TBS of fresh garlic hummus Whole wheat Pita Afternoon Snack: Weight Watchers Low Moisture cheese stick Two mini red sweet peppers Two pieces of raw califlower What I pack for work changes daily except for the cheese stick and cottage cheese.
  7. I currently do not own any animals for my own, but here are my families fur babies that I do take some ownership for. This one is the newest addition her name is Peanut. She is a teacup chihuahua she is only 5 months old but the sweetest little thing ever. Not afraid of people, and loves to play. Can't get enough of her little kisses when I visit my parents. This is Shadow (aka Bear) and she is a full black lab. She is your typical lab, loving life and everybody in it. Shadow is my sidekick when I visit. Her and I go every where together and loves car rides. Always looking to cuddle when I come over. Hugest lap dog but I wouldn't ask for anything different. This is Cinder-Ella. She is lab/whippet mix. She is the oldest and most prissy thing I have ever seen. She has a heart of gold and the protector of the house. But her bark is bigger than her bite. And if I have a blanket I can tell you she is right next to you looking for cuddles. And awesome runner, to watch her stretch out and have her whippet come out of her is beautiful. I am a huge dog lover! Hopefully when I am done with apartment living I will finally own a pup of my own. They are most defiantly a humans best friend! **All photo credits go to me, I am a photographer outside of my day job. You can see my work at www.facebook.com/Kaylee.Marie.Photo . These pups are my stress relievers, a ear to turn too, unconditional love, and also great dogs. These guys are my families pups. Love them with all my heart.
  9. Well I am still in transition of becoming the new me...but I do not miss weighing in at 397 pounds. I have no regrets at all. The only thing I wished that stayed were my boobies lol
  10. Hi there! When I first started this whole journey of weight loss I was 397, and before surgery I lost 35 pounds and that put me at 362 right at surgery. I am now 290 and lost total 107 from when I began, and 72 pounds since surgery! The sleeve is a tool, that is something I keep telling myself everyday. The sleeve will work better if you make healthy changes to your diet and exercise. Six months ago I was sleeved and I have zero regrets, even when I go through a stall which will happen I have no regrets. I wouldn't be scared of the bypass, my mom had the bypass and is doing great and she is 5 years post op. One thing to remember every surgeon is different and will suggest what they think is best for you overall to become overall healthy and loose the excess weight. Good luck! With any surgery you have, you will rock at it I have faith.
  11. GNC Has it, I just bought a bottle for $8
  12. I have plenty of go to foods I turn too. The one thing I buy the most will have to be Michigan Brand Old Fashion Goodness Small Curd Cottage cheese 4% milk fat minimum. Its 14 grams of Protein, 3 grams of carbs, 120 calories, and 5 grams of fat. I also eat a lot of chicken as well. Lately I have been on a fruit kick. Love eggs, and chicken sausages. Also when I am craving a burger, i make chicken burgers and eat them naked with mustard, hard cheese, tomato and avocado. I hardly ever eat bread. Also I LOVE fresh hummus.
  13. OMG Loved the show when it first aired but after watching season five...and how the show ended I wanted to kill the TV! Hated the ending of the show. Now I am on to The Game of Thrones and will say I love that show ten times more than Breaking Bad. Don't get me wrong the show started off real great and went down hill after middle of the fourth season for me. Very frustrating.
  14. Usually the itching means that the skin is healing around the incision. Now in my case, mine itch so bad and I am very prone to topical yeast infections. I got topical yeast infections with four of the 7 incisions and those were the ones down lower on my belly. But those were beat red, had yellow puss, and smelt like yeast. Which I hope that doesn't happen to you. I would talk with your doctor if you think there is something wrong with the itchiness.
  15. I mix up my breakfasts. One day it will be scrambled eggs with cheese on top of a toastada, next day it will be Bear Peak Protein granola with skim milk. I just started to eat steal cut oats made with skim milk. At times I will just have cottage cheese with some fruit. Or eggs with some fruit. I love Al Fresco breakfast chicken sausage patties and then I make a naked egg sandwich with the sausage on the bottom then a slice of provolone cheese, egg, tomato, and onion. So delicious. Then there are days I eat what I had for dinner for breakfast. The other day I tried french toast for the first time. I find awesome recipes online and on Pinterest.
  16. Hey Kimba! To do a little check in, I have lost 5 pounds so now I am down 70 since surgery which will be six months tomorrow and lost 106 all together since I started this journey. I am 291 now, hoping by next Wednesday I will be in either the high or mid 280's. All this weekend for me has been a "not wanna eat" days. I didn't hardly get in the calories I need for the days and also the Protein. But I am back at it today. Been really good at not eating out! Yay me! But what I have done because I crave sweets SO much I talked with my doctor and he said in very careful moderation to have some sweets. So I had three chocolate covered pretzels and yesterday some sugar free Chocolate covered peanuts. It satisfied me and that was that. I can now fit into a size 2X at Old Navy. Had to get a new swim suit bottoms since the other ones fell right off me when I got out of the pool the other day. I have been working out, at least 5 times a day. Tonight I will be swimming then right back to the boot camp challenge. Hope your week is going well. Also welcome all new people! Its great to hear from other people around Michigan who have done WLS and also their journey!
  17. I don't know about a total percentage. But my doctor told me to try and get in between 40-50 grams of carbs a day and 70-100 grams of Protein a day. I do not eat bread, if I do it is whole grain and in a pita form to make a chicken sandwich. I stick with veggies and some nuts and berries. Also I have slowly started to introduce back in my diet fruits. I am not much of a fruit eater but lately I cannot get enough of them. My biggest thing is getting my calorie intake higher than what it currently runs. Right now it runs between 500-700 and I burn that off quickly with my exercising. I wouldn't swap out your veggies with a protein shake, those are the good carbs you want. Its all down to choices, if I didnt have my have my carbs up at 40-50 grams then I would be craving the junk food instead of the good food. I have found this out with trial and error. I would press your doctor some more to get a good estimate on where he would like to see you. If he doesnt have an answer for you I would talk to a nutritionist. Good luck!
  18. I was revised from the band to the sleeve in November 2013. My mom had the gastric bypass, so I went in wanting that but did initial research on options and became open to the sleeve. I remained open to both and when I met with my surgeon she told me that I have no reason to get the bypass. She told me she would only do the bypass if I was on two different diabetes medications, and other health reasons. Also another reason why is if I needed my gall bladder out it would be easier to get to verse the bypass. What I believe is all what your health team is considering what is right for you. Also if you don't personally agree with them you can seek out a second opinion with a different then weigh your options. I love the sleeve so far. I am only 5 1/2 months out and so far I am 68 pounds down from surgery and a 100 pounds down since I went in from my first consultation.
  19. Hi Wendyt!! How awesome! Your going to be so happy that you chose this tool and path. Will keep you in my thoughts when you go in
  20. I am 24 no children and I went from a 50DDD to a 46C major difference for me and still adjusting to it. I am down 100 pounds from when I decided to do something about my weight and 69 pounds down from surgery. My boobs are saggy and very visible with the loose skin. I have 45 more pounds to loose to be at my goal and I don't want to loose more in the boobage... I cried when I went down to a C cause they look not so great.
  21. Sweet thank you! So far I buy only new because I had a horrible experience at goodwill and a few other consignment shops. They gave me bed bugs which I am very lucky fought off and they are gone but that's where they came from. So everything I buy goes directly in the wash no questions asked. I do love shopping at Debs for maxi skirts which I have found to LOVE! I am still in between a 22/24 and 18/20 so I think coming soon thats all going to change.
  22. Aww thank you, I am very proud of myself. I am 24 years old. My obesity has been a genetic factor and addicted to food. I come from a long line of addicts. My grandpa on my moms side he was severely obese weighing in at 500 pounds and his grandfather was the same. My mom had the gastric bypass a year earlier before I had the lap band put in place. But growing up I was always big, I cannot say I know what skinny clothes are because my normal is the plus size clothes. I cant wait to hear more about your journey as well!
  23. When I started this journey I weighed in at 397 then the day before surgery I weighed in at 362. So overall I have lost 103 pounds but since surgery I have lose 68 so I am now 294. I cried as well when I saw 297 on the scale. Lately its been emotional for me. It really didn't hit me until I broke under 300. I haven't been under 300 since my freshman year in high school. I have always been a big girl and this is my second weight loss surgery. I had the lap band put in place in 2008 and failed it. So, I am bound and determined to achieve every goal I have with this surgery and use this tool to its full potential. I hated as well stating my weight but when became public with my surgery and weight loss I gained the confidence to actually say it. I am rooting for you too! Hopefully this summer I will come spend some time at the lake
  24. I am in between 22/24-18/20 I downloaded an app called boot camp challenge and have been religiously doing that every day and swimming. I was a size 28 almost outta that size when I began. So, I am hoping by the 28th of this month which is my sixth month check up I will break into the 280's by then. Crossing fingers. I am so jealous you live 6 miles from the lake lol
