New to Mounjaro
after week 1 update: NO major side effects!!! slight headache after the shot and injection site a little itchy. That was it. On the plus side...since my sleeve I have had huge dumping syndrome. That is now gone. Drink lots of fluids-no constipation that way. As for eating...well that is a different story. The only way I can describe it is it is like you swallowed a balloon. When you get full-you know it. It's like when you fill a balloon with air and there is no more room. So far so good just took my second dose of the 5 mg.

New to Mounjaro
Hello, I am new to Mounjaro. I have had my 1st injection 20 hours ago. I am wondering about everyone's experience with Mounjaro and Zepbound (same drug). My doctor started me at the .5 mg dose. The pharmacist told me not to leave the house, go on vacation or a family function??? How sick am I going to get. In the last 20 hours I experienced a mild headache. I am making sure that I am eating very small meals of bland food. So far, no major side effects. When did these side effects kick in for everyone? I am really wondering what is going to happen and when!

Dumping and Diarrhea
Good Day All: I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issues that I am, ( I had a gastric sleeve a couple of years ago-previously had a gastric band that eroded into my stomach and it had to be removed. ). I have been having dumping syndrome on a regular basis. it is especially bad after eating breakfast. I have tried to eat a small breakfast-scrambled egg or keto toast, even oatmeal. Still most days I spend my morning in the bathroom. I am terrified to go anywhere. My doctor put me on a heartburn medication twice daily. This ended the acid reflux and slowed down the dumping a little. Now, I am living on Imodium in the morning about 4 to 5 days a week. Has anyone had this problem and what was the solution?

May 2024 Surgery Buddies ?
i am on day 134 since my revision from lapband to sleeve revision. everything started out ok. Now, not so much. I have periodic acid reflux (even with presciption meds). extreme fatigue, and I give myself a shot of B12 once a week. Now I have severe dumping syndrome every morning after breakfast. Doesn't matter if I eat oatmeal or a scrambled egg. The only thing that calms it down is metamucil. My surgeon suggested that I drink a glass of Metamucil when I wake up in the morning prior to coffee or breakfast. This has helped. Now eating is a different story...I feel like that band is still in there. Could it be scar tissue? I eat a small amount and I am almost sick. Severe stomach cramping. I keep wondering if it is dehydration. I don't drink water or those sickly sweet sugar free hydration drinks. Anyway...I am regretting this surgery every single day.

2 weeks post op with minimum restriction and present hunger
This is happening to me too!!! I had my surgery may 17th and I almost convinced myself that they took out the gastric band and didn't do the sleeve. Liquids and protein drinks went down with ease the first week...started getting hungry. Went to puree, that helped curb the hunger. Contacted my surgeon, he advised that everyone is different. If you can tolerate puree, then try soft foods. After that try a little more regular food. That sure cured the hunger issue, and I am only 22 days out of surgery. I use the Baritastic app install of myfitnesspal. This one tracks your protein, calories, carbs and water intake. I am currently eating around 700 to 800 calories per day and I am satisfied. They told me to sip sip sip my water, hell I can gulp gulp gulp. I really watch how much food I am stuffing into that little stomach at one time. It is still trying to heal. On a side note: Baritastic does Not reduce the amount of your calorie intake when you exercise-this keeps you to the 1200 cal range. My Fitness Pal subtracts your exercise from you calories telling you can eat more. We are not suppose to eat more...

May 2024 Surgery Buddies ?
Yup...gaining water weight every day! Super depressing looking at that stupid scale. I used to have a diuretics everyday...now Dr. says no more diuretics. Don't have a clue what to do next. It is impossible to gain real weight eating between 500 & 600 calories/day.

Revision Surgery - Band to Sleeve-any tips or success stories
Good Morning: I am currently on day 9 since my revision surgery. For some really strange reason I am no longer having any issues like I did on day 1. No pain, no stomach spasms, very minimal nausea. I am now craving something with substance. Contacted my surgeon today and he advised that if I am tolerating liquids...move to the next stage-puree. If in a week I tolerate this well...move to soft foods, then the next stage and so on. It almost feels surreal. Every clinics website states two week for every stage. I wonder since I was a band patient previously that my stomach is accustomed to the sleeve diet. I was very fortunate to loose 150lbs total with that gastric band and good food choices. It seems revision patients have it a little different...we know what is going to happen.

May 2024 Surgery Buddies ?
Day 3 post-op from band removal to gastric sleeve. Yikes, this was way worse than what I thought. They took longer to get that band out-appears previous surgeon was making sure that bugger wasn't moving. 2 days of sleeping and sipping water. Can't even think about food. I hope this gets easier as the week goes by.

Revision Surgery - Band to Sleeve-any tips or success stories
Good Day I am going to have my gastric band removed and the gastric sleeve done on May 17, 2024 due to complications from the band. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on recovery, foods, exercise etc for the first few days after the surgery. When I had the band installed i was on a liquid diet, then puree and finally real food. Lots of gas pains in chest and shoulders back then. Now I am on a new journey at the end of the month. Any success stories?

Deciding between bypass & sleeve
Hello Everyone: I am getting my gastric band removed on May 17 and going with the gastric sleeve as per my surgeon's suggestion. He feels I will do well with it. I managed to lose 150lbs with the band ( surgeon told me it was not a typical result). I started having trouble getting food to go down. I guess I created a pouch and have a lot of scar tissue. Had to have all the fluid taken out of the band while I was in Nevada. The surgeon performing this (not easy to find anyone in Las Vegas who would even look at removing the fluid) advised what was going on. There are only 5% of surgeons still installing the band in the entire country. Many, many complications with it. I was fine until a year ago. Had fluid put in (the doctor back home put too much in), then the chest and back pains started. Food would go down sometimes and sometimes not. I managed to regain 15lbs. Struggling every day. I hope the revision to the sleeve will be a success.

Alcohol ?
My experience with alcohol (wine) and the lapband is that I don't feel the effects of the booze immediately. Then like someone flipped the switch and I am bombed, almost passed out (have passed out). I also purchased an alcohol breath testing machine. It takes 3 times as long to the booze to leave my system as my husbands when having the same amount of drinks. The machine will read triple zeros for him and I will have a .045 blood alcohol level. We are wondering with the band is the alcohol residue is staying above the band longer.

HELP NEED ADVICE ON FOOD
I understand where you are coming from. Food was and I think still is a passion of mine. I am 5 weeks out too, and I am confused as what has happened to me. I understand the 3 bites and full syndrome. My clinic told me that 500 to 600 calories a way was not enough. I cannot tell when I am getting hungry, until it is way past the point of no return. So now, I am eating at the 4 hour mark no matter what. I had a test this past weekend. We were out of town for the day. My husband and friend decided they were starving and we need to go for lunch. Where did they take me you ask...Subway. What the hell, I can't eat bread. I told them let's go and I will figure it out. They did have something I could eat, sort of. I had the flat bread (toasted crisp) with teriyaki chicken and full off veggies. I asked for a fork and knife, and ate the meat and veggies. Wow it was good. I even tried a little of the bread, chewed it well and it went down ok. Like you I was and am terrified of eating. My old BFF has ditched me. I need to find a new BFF. Up until last week I was cooking 2 separate full meals. What a chore that is, especially since cooking seems to wear me out. That has now ended!!! If I have to get healthy, so does the family. I assume you have kids...they need to eat the way you do. They will develop healthy eating patterns and hopefully won't have to go through what we are going through now. That pizza, burgers, fries etc has to be the rare treat, not the norm. As for Vegas...you've got it made. Every restaurant there have and exceptional appetizer menu. Let the old boy order his mega steak, you order the fanciest appetizer on the menu and a side of veggies. We only get a cup of food at each setting, it better be good. Red wine helps our body digest and flush out the food we have eaten. So have a small glass and sip sip sip and enjoy. This lady has a great website with healthy, fun recipes for the whole family to enjoy. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.ca/

Just wondering
Hi Nancy: First off you have made a wonderful decision to have the band. The clinic you have chosen is very dedicated to their patients. The support staff are extremely qualified and can answer any question that you may have. You will find out more after the surgery is complete. They have web seminars about the band, nutrition, supplements etc. they even have a support web meeting once a month ( I haven't attended that one yet). They give you the tools to succeed. Remember the Lap Band is a one step at a time program. 1 to 2 lbs a week weight loss-slow an steady wins the race to keep it off.
