  1. quote name="Domika03" post="3459213" timestamp="1399070029"] If anyone is interested, I just created a private support group called Mission Slimpossible on FaceBook. I made it private because not every one has told their friends about their WLS, myself included. The purpose is simply to provide support to pre & post op WLS people, similar to this website, but on FB. Why not just use this website? You could. It's just that some of us are a little more obsessed with FB than we should be (I'm blushing), and access it a lot more than this site (I'm still blushing). No other reason than that really. It's not just for those of us in Denver, so please feel free to share it with others. I hope to also share recipes, something I seem to be a bit crazed about these days. Hope to see you there!!! I would love to participate! Do you have a link? You can find me on fb at https://www.facebook.com/CarreEW1081 if you need an invite. Thanks!
  2. I was sleeved April 22nd...a little over a week ago. So far I have had what I think is a text book recovery...no pain, no nausea, able to get Protein and Water in, back to work one week after surgery. Yesterday, my stomach started to hurt a little when I ate or drank (well, drank...I am on full liquids), Nothing serious...feels like a mild belly ache that went a way very quickly as the liquid passed through. This continues off and on today. I still feel fine, no fever, nothing else strange. I thought, since it was Friday, I might as well call my surgeon's office just to make sure this is normal...I was thinking my stomach nerves were "waking up" or healing after surgery. My surgeon's assistant called me back and after I explained the pain or discomfort she said that this wasn't really normal...that my sleeve really shouldn't be hurting wh) She then said that a leak shouldn't be showing itself this far out, but I shouldn't really have pain...and that's where I got freaked out. The PA said I shouldn't be concerned...let's keep an eye on it, stick with liquids, take small sips, if anything changes to call. My 2 week follow up appointment is on Thursday My biggest fear of having this surgery was a leak, it absolutely terrifies me....My surgeon has only had one leak and it presented before the patient left the hospital. Now every ache, pain, heartbeat scare me...I came home right from work and measured my waist (down one inch since April 27th)...I cannot stop worrying about this! I know this forum are wonderful, supportive patients not medical professionals, but I guess I need a little encouragment or possibly just to know that someone else out there is sleeve land has had rumbly stomach spasms a little over a week out of surgery. Or maybe I just need someone to just listen and understand my fear.
  3. Can you come to Denver for the psych?
  4. It's where your doctor speaks with Cigna's doctor
  5. My surgeon considers it a full liquid...I blend it, strain it and add unflavored Protein powder and skim milk. Currently I am enjoying a blended, strained Black Bean Soup with added 0% Fat Fage and Protein Powder....I just can't do sweet all day! Of course, your surgeon and nutritionist are the last word!
  6. After the Peer to Peer it was pretty quick. They did it with my Surgeon's assistant and I was approved the next day
  7. Call Cigna! They will let you know where your claim stands. If I hadn't of called, I probably wouldn't have gotten my first reconsideration done in time.
  8. I'm not thirsty or hungry, but I do force myself to drink anyway. I actually avoid lip balm because my dry lips reminds me to drink. I am in altitude and a dry climate (Denver) so that also helps. I have also completely lucked out and was able to take much bigger sips these last couple of days... I wouldn't call it a gulp, but much better than dainty sips!
  9. I've been able to do it.... me and my water bottle are attached at the hip!
  10. I am 5 days play-off and the exhaustion just hit.... I think I've been on a post surgery p high for the past five days until now. Hoping this exhaustion is normal and will pass quickly. Best of luck to all April sleevers.
  11. Thanks so much for this!! Awesome job! We are the same height and start weight....I can only hope I have the same success!
  12. I had the same...I was squeamish about it until I realized how much it helped! No pain meds after the first 24 hours and only 1 pain pill prior to removing the catheters (which I didn't even need...it was just preemptive on the advice of my surgeon). I was also sleeved 4/22
  13. I am also four days out and get the pressure feeling in my chest...my doc said it was pretty common...they were doing a lot of work around the diaphragm and I think that was also where they pulled out the stomach remnant...so it will be sore with any kind of pressure. I try to swallow several times with each sip so it is a smooth flow of liquid rather than a larger volume. Congrats on your success!!
  14. Fat Doctor I watch it on Hulu...I have only seen one VSG, all the rest are RnY, but it's a great show...super informative. Plus, I'm a sucker for almost anything British (though you will have to keep a calculator handy to figure out how many pounds is 25 stone! [14 lbs = 1 stone])
  15. I am also a side sleeper and, luckily, had no trouble sleeping on my side my 2nd night in the hospital and at home. My surgeon did give me the On-Q Pain relief system (basically numbing medication delievered directly to my surgical site for 72 hours)...I thought it was strange and was kind of creeped out that I had to pull the tubes out at home...but I truly believe it helped my recovery and comfort immensely...incisions never really hurt, no major muscle pain and I could sleep on my side!
  16. 1. Shopping in the "Big Girl" section 2. All my Black Clothes!...they are getting trashed as soon as they get too big! 3. Fear of sleeveless tops and dresses 4. Sitting in an airplane with my arms and legs crossed tight, desperatly trying not to touch my neighbor 5. Spending hours and many tears trying to find something to wear on a night out 6. Fear of getting naked 7. Avoiding intamacy because I can't enjoy it...all I think about it my fat 8. Avoiding the camera...hating Every Single Photo I am in 9. The seatbelt digging into my right butt cheek every time I drive
  17. Day 3! It really does get better each day! Day of surgery was spent in a painkiller haze..the next day was a few bouts of nausea and three dry heaves (Awful!!). Day 2 I got to come home which is so much better than the hospital! I think I have been very lucky...no gas pain and no more nausea...my Surgeon sent me home with an "On Q pain management system" Basically to skinny catheters that were threaded through the surgical site that were attached a "ball" which delivered a constant stream of pain killers directly to my stomach area for 72 hours. I just pulled those out (that was interesting!) and took a pain pill....hopefully my last. My only problem so far has been getting fluids and Protein in...I feel like I am constantly sipping, yet I have only gotten halfway to goal
  18. Just go home from the hospital...the first 24 hours kind of sucked..nausea and a couple of dry heaves, but I seemed to turn a corner on day two. I also ended up being on of the lucky ones with no gas pains, which I am very thankful! There was a gentleman in the next room who had Roux en Y and, from the sound of it, was having a horrible time with nausea and gas...we were both up walking at midnight...I was doing well...he just wanted the gas to go away! I made the mistake of saying "Day two will get better!" To which he replied "I am on Day 3 and there is no change" So, yes, I am very grateful so far! Just popped open my first Premier Proten shake and am attempting to get half of it down...it's not bad, but Protein seems to exaserbate my nasty ketosis mouth...I may have to be a hermit until my skanky breath goes away!
  19. Thanks yall! I'm still the hospital and saw my surgeon right after it happened, he didn't seem very concerned but wanted me to stay another night just in case...had a lot of drugs and haven't had another incident. The heaves hurt bad! Scared the bejesus out of me! While I wouldn't wish nausea on anyone, I've got to say it's comforting to know I'm not the only one
  20. I had my surgery yesterday....so far so good other than some bout with nausea which suck! A few minutes ago I dry heaved 3 times and am terrified that I could have damaged the staple line....having your stomach spasm and contract can't be good for it Nausea comes with no prior warning....one minute I'm fine and next I am trying to grab the puke bowl. Only drinking Water and broth so its, luckily not too gross
  21. I'm right behind you! Surgery in two hours! We will do great!
  22. Bag is packed and waiting for my ride to the hospital. Thirsty, hungry and pretty darned nervous about now! Still can't believe I am doing it! See y'all on the other side!
  23. 3 days clear liquids....low sodium broth, water, sf jello, decaf tea is all we are allowed. Surgery is tomorrow... th eonly good thing about the preop is I can't wait for it to end.... so surgery nerves have diminished some
  24. Insurance approval....check! liquid diet tomorrow morning....check! Last Hurrah party....check! Wearing my one outfit that still fits....check! Surgery Tuesday....I Got This!!! Ready to be on the Losers bench!
  25. Thanks! I start My liquid diet on Saturday getting excited and still little scared. We'll definitely reach out and let you know how I'm doing. Keep us informed on your progress! So happy for you!
