Ouch food
It's the tightening/narrowing of your esophagus. Causing your food to "get stuck".

Ouch food
I will have to track and pay attention when I'm eating. I really hope this is just your eating to fast thing. The bad part is that I feel so drained once it has finally cleared.

Ouch food
So in my year and a half post RNY I have never really had issues with food getting stuck. I did with my band all the time it didn't matter if I ate super slow and tiny bits of food. It would all get stuck. About a month ago I ate some ground beef and it go stuck. It was painful I have never experienced that type of pain before. I let it go for about three hours I finally caved and called my dr. He said give it time don't eat or drink anything. He said if it doesn't ease up call me in the morning and I will get you in for a scope. About 30 minutes later it all came out. I still didn't eat anything just drank lots of clear fluids (well what I could handle). Now a month later and it seems As if every three days or so it happens again. Stuck and lots of pain I can eat salad it gets stuck doesn't have to be meat it will get stuck. Is anyone else having this issue or similar issues? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Ignorant people
They don't know all of the hard work that you put into it. I have learned to smile and tell them Politely you really don't know what I've been through and walk away. My friends that know me they know all the hell I've been through and have never said you took the easy way out. Ps she is probably jealous.

Impressed
I am so glad to have found this forum. I am only kicking myself for not finding it sooner. I had my revision 5/17/13 I found a different forum back then. I stopped going to that forum after two months. Everyone here is friendly and will share their story and help out when needed. Everyone is positive. Veterans are not pushy or know I alls. Thank you everyone for being so kind and welcoming. MC

Why do people say Revision patients lose slower
I felt the same way the band. I hated not being able to eat or drink for fear of the beast. I couldn't eat or drink anything when it would move up until around 7 pm. Then I would load up on carbs. I have lost 90 pounds so far which is good. I am always thinking I should be losing more I should be down to 130 not 165. Major fear that I am the one that is not going to lose the weight. Even after losing 90 pounds. I have worked my rear end off for the last 6-7 months and can't seem to get below 165. I'm a size 8/10 I am so happy in my skin now. I can't help feeling like I should lose more.

San Antonio, Texas
I lived in San Antonio for ever I wished that I could have had my surgery there with Dr Michael Seger. I love his office. I'm in Abilene now had my lap band done with dr Einspanier. Just before his office closed. His patients were left to find new doctors without any help. I found Dr Warnock who took over my care and did my revision. Very happy with dr Warmock.

About changing surgeons after insurance approval?
I completely understand and am with you on going with your gut. I didn't go with my gut and it got me a revision. :/
-
Are you comfortable talking about it?
I do the same thing. I ask for another plate to share or I ask for a box right away if I'm not sharing. Most of the time I share my plate or my family will share a bit off of their plates. I also am pretty proud of all the hard work that has gone into my journey. Do as you feel what you are most comfortable with.

About changing surgeons after insurance approval?
I would suggest calling your insurance company. They will tell you if a new predetermination is needed. Most of the time the original request is all that is needed as medical ness has already been proven. They may just need the name of the new doctor. If you have HMO you may need a referral from your pcp to the new doctor. Hope this helps.

I also had the realize band. My friends that have been successful with the band all have the lap band I think that's what it's called.

Negativity
I was often told that's the easy way out slacker. Or your not big enough for WLS. You aren't sick enough. I didn't care what people had to say I pushed them out the door. I've kept only the positive people in my life. Keep your head up and do what's best for you.

Why do people say Revision patients lose slower
Live and learn right. The doctor that did my revision is wonderful!! Every time I am in the office and he has someone that wants the band he has them talk to me. He does the bands but tries to inform them of all the ins and outs. I don't always change their minds but at least they have some knowledge of the dangers.

Why do people say Revision patients lose slower
It failed us that's for sure. I have about 5 other friends who have the band and have not had any issues. They have all been very successful. It would be me to be the one out of 10 that has issues with it. One of my friends that has the band kept telling me over and over to have it checked out cause he never had pain with his. I could feel my port sticking out through my skin. It was bulging looked like an alien.

That is inane!! I thought I had l problems. I am so glad that it's out!! My band moved up and down there were days I couldn't drink anything until 7 at night. Then there were days I felt like I could eat a horse. Then the port would flip itself that was painful. I could feel it flip port side back and then flip back port to front. Again I am glad they finally got your taken out.

What kind of issues were you having with your band? Which band did you have? I have been wondering if other people have had the same issues I was having.
