  1. I had surgery 3/31. All was good until I started having this pain that I assumed was gas. It floats around the left side of my body (shoulder and neck). When I lay down it feels like I'm being choked. I have to move around to get it in the right place. Sometimes it makes me cough which usually causes me to dry heave (except last night, some yellow stuff came out). If I could just get rid of this pain I would be good. Any thoughts?
  2. It must be the teacher in you. I'm a teacher too. Initially I was thinking the summer. Then my friends encouraged me not to put it off if it could be done before. They made me realize that I work so hard for my students that it would be okay to take off. My biggest concern was sub plans. I hate them. Never the less, I started this process in January and had my surgery march 31. I'm off this week and spring break is next week.
  3. It depends on how long you will be there. I didn't have to spend the night. Even with that being said this is what I needed the first 24 hours. A bed, lots of pillows to prop up with and gas x strips. I couldn't stay awake long enough to be concerned with my iPad or phone.
  4. Hey my surgery was 3/31 as well. I'm taking in about 40 oz of water a day. I try to get in 4 oz every hour. I use a small cup which helps a bit. I was told by the nurse that is starts off very difficult to get the water in which is why they fill you up with IV fluids. Good luck to you!
  5. I love my ice. My mom and hubby have been going to the gas station to get the good kind for me.
  6. I checked in at 6:30 AM and checked out at 12:30 PM.
  7. Good luck. Mine was yesterday. All went well!
  8. Thanks everyone! My hubby has been really good about making sure I walk. Most of the gas is gone now )knock on wood). Now I'm just sore.
  9. Had my surgery yesterday. Arrived at the surgery centers at 6:30 AM and was checking out at around 12:30 PM. Sleep is all I wanted to do. Unfortunately, I had gas so bad that sleeping was very difficult. It's getting better though.
  10. No ma'am. 6-8 hours is what I'm told.
  11. I can't believe the day is almost here. I check in tomorrow at 6:30AM. Wow. My life will be changed forever. Hubby will come with me. I hope he gets up on time. I HATE when things don't run smoothly in the morning. My mom is coming to town so she will transport the boy (my 7 year old) to and from school. She will also be taking all of the sweaters that will be too big next season out of my house. Yippee!
  12. I'm taking phone, iPad, chargers and Chapstick. I'm getting VSG. I check in at 6:30 AM and should b home by the evening.
  13. What's ur date? My date is march 31. I'm taking off next week and then the following week is spring break. My date is also March 31. Are you ready? That is fast almost lightening fast. Sending skinny vibes ur way. When we heal up some may we can walk the trails or stone mountain together. Keep me posted how ur doing and I will do the same. Definitely! Can't wait to climb that mountain! Had my preop visit today. More importantly i swiped my card. Its official now. Monday is getting closer and closer.

  16. I'm using Dr. Titus Duncan at peachtree bariatrics. I absolutely love their customer service!
  17. Thanks everyone. This process is moving so quickly. One more question. I'm one of those people that doesn't like to take off work. How much time did you take?
  18. I got the call Wednesday that I was approved and another call Friday to schedule. My preop stuff is a week away and the surgery a couple days after. Wow this is happening quickly. They told me that it is okay to not do the full 2 weeks of the diet but just to start the next day. Anyone else do this?
  19. Hey lovelylife. It moved quickly for me as well. I had my first appointment then scheduled my next. They called me the next week and said they could see me for almost everything on the next visit. I missed that appointment because of the snow.
  20. Years ago fox 5 had a health segment and he was always the doctor. I actually have an appoint Thursday to get most of my preop done. This weather though!
  21. I'm going to Emory. You? I'm going to Peachtree Bariatrics
  22. Curvy_goddess who is doing your surgery? I'm in ATL too.
  23. Curvy_Goddess I have the same fear. Who wants extra skin? I've always worked out so hopefully my love for strength training will help.
