I thought I was dying.
I'm 3 weeks post op. It's happened twice now. I'll wake up, start getting dressed for the day and suddenly get hot and weak. I felt like I was going to pass out at any given moment. I had to lay back down for about 30 minutes and sip on Gatorade. Awful feeling.

How many oz are you able to eat?
Thanks for the advice. I feel like I eat too much but I guess that's because I'm full. My husband says I'm not eating much. I guess my brain and my stomach are trying to relate for once... lol

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and I can tolerate around 3 oz of pureed food. Does that sound normal?

What 3 things do u wish u had been told?
This made me laugh. About a week post op my husband and I were at the grocery store. I had assumed it was just gas. NEVER assume it's just gas...

A can of tuna is 23g of protein. I usually split the can, that's 2 meals. I also found a protein powderat the Vitamin Shoppe thats 30g of protein in 1 scoop, so I drink 1 a day. I usually get the rest during my other 'meals'. I was told to eat 5 times a day...

Also the vitamins... have you tried justtaking the Flinstones chewable. You'd have to take multiple but at least it's something. I take Optisource bariatric vitamins. I got them from Walgreens. Chewable. Citrus flavored. They don't gross me out... lol.

Hmmmm...so it's begun...
I started making my shakes with sugar free almond milk and started pureeing fruit to put in it. I have a hard time with the shakes too. I also used low carb ice cream and turned them into milk shakes before the lactose intolerance set in. Maybe you can try that? I crush my medication and mix it with sf chocolate pudding. It helps with the bitterness of the medications. I drink a lot of crystal light and then switch to decaffeinated tea with spenda.

I had my surgery on the 16th too. I am down 18 pounds. This is very hard. A mental battle. I am struggling a bit because I constantly feel like I am eating too much or not enough or the wrong thing. The thought of Protein shakes makes me want to vomit. We should be friends We can encourage and help each other.

Just got home from my post op appointment. I FINALLYgraduated from full liquids to pureed foods! Down 38 pounds... 18 since surgery. Any suggestions for pureed food?

I've been struggling with that myself. I was making mine with low carb ice cream and milk. It tasted like a milkshake with minimal sugar. However, it seems as if I can't tolerate milk anymore so I am back at square 1.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing. I just had some doubts because I remember hearing one of the nurses say it would be a struggle to get the 4 medicine cups of fluid in during an hour (that was required to go home from the hospital). I never had a problem. Thanks for making me feel better. I can't wait for pureed food.

Is this 'normal'?
Thanks Jessica. That makes me feel better.

Is this 'normal'?
I do have the diet. I've been following it. I've lost 20 pounds since surgery on the 16th.

I'm glad I found this. I had surgery on the 16th. I'm on a full liquid diet. I never feel full. I am also having issues with drinking protein drinks. I drank so many the two weeks before surgery that now the thought makes me want to vomit.

Is this 'normal'?
Today makes two weeks since surgery. I was told that after a few bites of soup and sips of water I would feel so full I would feel like I was going to pop. I have yet to feel that feeling. I'm still on the liquid phase until I go to the doctor tomorrow (hopefully). I can get down 1/2 a can of cream soup and stop because I think I should, not necessarily because I feel full. Is this because it's just liquids?
