  1. Howdy everyone. So I am 5mos post-op, and before my surgery, I would have the occasional cigar during a spring/summer evening as I was sitting out on the deck. Just wondering if any other people have either started smoking, or smoked cigars post-op, and when. Im not a big smoker, but would like to start enjoying a cigar every once in awhile. Thanks for reading!

    Smoking

    No one responded?? Wow.

    100 Pounds in 4 Months?

Yes you can lose 100 in 4mos, easily, depending on the plan you are on. Which varies from every doctor. But personally, I was down 100 under 4mos. But I have been on a major stall for almost 4 weeks. So I lost it very quickly, and now I might lost a lb here or there, but then gain 2 or 3. It fluctuates a lot.

    Gatorade

Not a fan of the G2 from Gatorade, but the PowerAde Zero is pretty ok.

    Food

Hello Sleevers!! Happy Easter to all of you. I am 4mos post-op, down over 100. Things are going well. Just curious as to what people are eating these days. I get a little bummed out with trying to plan meals. I dont know what to cook myself. I get tired of the same ol piece of chicken, steak, or fish. I want to liven it up a bit, but I also dont want to make 12 portions and only eat 2. Know what Im saying sleevers?? Looking for some good, quick, small recipes where I can get 1-2 meals out of it, but be able to mix it up.
  6. So, about 3 months post-op, almost down 100lbs, and I am going to Vegas in a couple of days. Just wondering what anyone has done as far as eating while being on vacation. I'm not worried about anything, just have to eat small portions, and wont be visiting any of the many buffets. But was just curious as to what people have done while on vacation. Thanks.
  7. I am 5 weeks out. Have been cleared for pureed/soft foods, and I don't really eat a lot. I am down 43lbs since surgery and am losing about 1lb a day. Daily Ill eat 1-2 yogurts, a couple of bites of cottage cheese and maybe a piece of lunch meat. Ill have some hummus or a pickle from time to time as well Not a lot. Im supposed to get in about 60-70 grams of Protein in a day, but I am only getting about 30-40. Doctor isn't worried about the protein, the key is fluids!! Water and fluids help break down the fat and that's what I most important at this stage!
  8. Wow, that's crazy that you are on purees already. I was on Clear liquids for over a week, and then went to full liquids. Tomorrow, over 3 weeks postop, I will hopefully be cleared for soft foods. Down 31lbs since surgery. Interesting to hear of all the different techniques and "strategies" of each surgeon.

    stalls

Is there a stall buster, or will it just bust naturally. Tomorrow will be Week 3, and Ive been at a stall the last 4-5 days.
  11. I'm kind of having some of the same issues as well. I was cleared for full liquids last week and my weight loss slowed. I have cheated this week with a couple of crackers with my Soup, I had 1 french fry, and I have eaten some of my chili whole before pureeing it down, maybe a 1/2c's worth over the last couple of days. But anyways, today I am up 1lb. I'm hoping a lot of it has to deal with the lack of Protein and liquids. Those things have really slowed down over the last couple of days. Liquids for sure have gone down since I've started back in to my full life's routine. But Im probably only getting 20-35 of the 70 I am supposed to be getting....that's probably hurting it a lot. Thoughts or suggestions?? Really dislike the protein shakes. I tried some and they were too sweet. Tried another brand and I get half way through and the rest is just hard to choke down.
  12. Sleeved 12/26. Stayed 1 night in the hospital, took pain meds just for 1 day home. Soreness went away after about 5 days. Just got cleared for full liquids yesterday...2 weeks of that and then I can move on to purees. Down 25lbs since surgery.
  13. 1 night. Surgery at 230p and out the next evening at 530p. Could've stayed another night. Felt crappy but thought it better to be crappy at home.
  14. Has anyone ever gotten 1-3 weeks post up, been on Clear liquid or Full Liquid and "cheated" and ate some real solid food? If so, what did you feel like after??
  15. CoachJosh

    Cheated?

Agreed, every doctor is different. From how they do the surgery, how they close up. What their protocol is post op. I have glue over my incisions, some have stitches or staples. I heard some have some sort of drain in them. Some are full liquid or even puree food week 1 or 2. I am clear liquid for 7 days, and hopefully Ill get cleared to full liquids on Monday. But I am on that for 2 weeks before going to puree. Im surprised there are so many differences and different procedures.
  16. CoachJosh

    Cheated?

No not looking to cheat. I was just wondering.
  17. CoachJosh

    Is it too soon?

I had to be up and walking right after the surgery. I was up and walking around the hospital floor. And I have been walking 30-60mins, going anywhere from .5 to 1.5 miles and I am 9 days postop.
  18. I was sleeved 8 days ago. I had to lose 15-20lbs before surgery, and I did that. Post op, I am down almost 20lbs in 8days. I would say that I lost roughly 15lbs in 5 days. Now I am losing roughly 1-1.5 a day. Just started ramping up my exercise, so interested to see what the scale says in a day or so.

    Day 5 after surgery

Hey, I have had some of the same issues. Tired of having broth every day and juice/water/Vitamin Water. Yesterday I didn't have any broth, just stuck to the water/juice. Today I wanted to have some broth and it tasted good. The other thing that wasn't helping things was that I was on the couch a bit and just seeing food commercials was making me a little grumpy. Luckily I have some things to keep my mind off food, but when I am on the couch my mind wonders. So yeah, I would suggest like a previous poster, to try and find something to do. Go work out or something. We have a TV in front of the treadmill, no cable is hooked up to it, so I have a TV series that I am watching. Its a specific time and I dont have to worry about food commercials, and that really helps me out a lot. Find something to distract you. Its probably more of a mental thing. I see food that I miss and I think my head is telling me more that I am craving it, not my stomach.

    Clear Liquids

Miso Soup and French Onion....both great additions to the broth and a great way to mix things up. I also found some Swenson broth "additions", a Tortilla Flavor and Thai Ginger, I was SO excited to try something else. However, both are VERY spicy. I dipped my pinky in them and just a little snip was so spicy!
  21. I hear ya sister! I too had to endure holiday dinners with family, but I wasn't torn up about it at all. But I did see a pizza commercial this evening that had me wishing! Definitely ready to move on from the Clear liquids. Wife was nice and got me some Miso Soup this evening for my dinner...while she ate Sushi. But Im not hatin! The Miso was a great change up to the Beef/Chicken broth. Have my Postop follow up on Monday and ready to have some other foods.

    Are you COLD?

I am very cold as well.....but I live in MN and its currently -10*....don't know if that has anything to do with it.
  23. I didn't have a drain, and I didn't have any gas. I burped a lot though.
  24. Welp, made it through the surgery on Thursday. Friday was a blah day. Started drinking Water, but that was about all I wanted to have. They tried some Jello and broth, but it wasn't agreeing with me. Today, much better! I feel pretty good and my incisions don't hurt as much.
  25. Merry Xmas Sleevers. Newbie. I am having surgery tomorrow 12/26. I am excited & nervous at the same time. Went to an open house the 1st week of November. Met with doctor on 11/27. Im a very busy person and with my schedule it was either try and do it at the end of December or wait until June. I wasnt really down for waiting. So got everything done, appointments, psych eval, insurance approved all in 3weeks time. Crazy!! Starving at the moment. Started Pre-Op stuff today. Just Clear liquids until midnight tonight, and then nothing until Friday, hopefully after the Upper GI looks good. The broth is ok, but Im sure by the time I have my post-op appt on 1/6, I am going to be going nuts!! Anyways, needed to lose 15-20lbs by surgery. Lost 20lbs in 3 weeks. No fast food, a little exercise, healthy eating, no pop, just Water, Vitamin Water Zero & Powerade Zero. Cheated this past weekend seeing as this was going to be the last weekend for quite some time where I would eat real food....gained 5lbs. haha But I think I will be back down tomorrow morning to by 20. A little nervous for tomorrow. I have never had a major surgery before, let alone gone under anthesia...so just weary of what to expect. Glad I found this site though. This will help Im sure!!
