Prevent/treat saggy skin after surgery?
I guess I just said vain because my goal is to eliminate health issues, and live longer. Not to look cute in a bikini, ya know?

Oink oink before pre-op liquids?
LOL. Well I am not big on Micky D's but I hear ya. I was scheduled to have lap band last month and my surgeons office was shut down by the hospital, 1 week before surgery and I had been on a liquid diet for 8 days at that point, I was so angry, and upset I killed an entire bag of chex muddy buddys. And, the sad part is it didnt even feel good, it just made me disappointed in myself. So this time around if I want a piece of candy I am having one, but just one and that way I don't go crazy from deprivation but I still get to taste the candy so it is better than nothing and its working so i am sticking with that. As for this weekend I know I can do that since I made it 8 days on the last one, so I am not sweating it and just doing the best I can. I know you will too, quitting fast food is awful at the time but it makes you feel so much better. I quit in 2010, when I decided to try an all natural vegan diet and I lost about 50 lbs, but then I just gradually started to eat cheese and dairy and was like ok, I will just be vegetarian....lol Needless to say, I have lost 24 lbs and kept it off since I started in July with the weight loss guidance of the nutritionist, and eating low cal only chicken and fish veggies and limited dairy. It helped me to go into my appointments and get weighed and have someone else see it, and either be happy for me or steer me back in the right direction.

Prevent/treat saggy skin after surgery?
This is all I can think about ever since I watched some videos on youtube a few days ago showing before and after stories. Those videos have been bothering me more than the video of someone actually in sleeve surgery. I need to put myself in check bad, when did I get so vain?

My surgery is Monday and I have an all clear diet for sat and sun. I have noticed the same thing! I am not proud of it, but I feel like you, I am not going to be eating this again/or for a while. I know its not a good idea to justify things, but deprivation has always made me nuts, so I am getting it out of my system I guess. I am being mindful of the things I am choosing to eat and especially the quantity, so I don't get out of control. I don't know about you but I am excited as well as anxious, so I think thats whats contributing to it. Good luck to you!- Any February 2014 Sleevers?
My date is the 10th as well! Did all the final pre op stuff today and I am ready to go. I can not believe it is finally time after working towards this since July. Excited, and anxious for the surgery itself, but I am ultimately ready for a happier healthier version of me!- Got My Date
Thanks!!! Congrats to you as well! I am so excited, I was previously going to get the band on Jan 16 but ended up switching docs and procedures kind of at the last minute. Still learning about all the sleeve entails as far as nutrition and recovery etc. But I am much more confident in my decision foe this procedure overall!!!!- February/March 2014 sleevers
Hey everyone! My date is February 10th! I am excited and nervous all at once!!!! So ready for a new and improved version of myself:)- Got My Date
Hey!!! Got my date too! February 10th!!!- Raging mad!
I did end up getting an appointment at Rose medical center, with Dr.snyder. they are going to see me even though they don't accept my insurance; they said that they would make an exception due to the circumstances.I am not sure if he is moving his practice or why I received such short notice. I just went in there to collect my records and the staff were very Apologetic towards me.I am not sure why I am still getting conflicting stories, it makes the whole thing seem very questionable to me.- Raging mad!
And I am not sure about how things have changed since the implementation of the ACA or if this has anything to do with it. All I know is our insurance got better from it.- Raging mad!
I agree Jim, now that I calmed down a bit that makes perfect sense. And pretty thick1 , I hope that is the case!!!!!- Raging mad!
@ toomuchfun Dr. Johnell is/ was my doc. I just went in to get my records and asked about the other hospitals. They told me that he just has fill clinics there and doesn't perform surgery there.- Raging mad!
Thanks Ladies! I have taken your advice and put a call in to Poudre Valley Medical Center, so just waiting for a call back from the coordinator of that program. I didn't know they even offered it in Loveland, which is only about 20 min from me. I am going to continue to stay on track with my diet and goals. I just ate half a bag of chex mix and it did not feel good. I realized I wasn't feeding my hunger, I was feeding my anger. I hope that is a sign that even though I was feeling really deprived on this diet, I was not physically deprived, just mentally. Thank you for all of the support and well wishes. I guess I will just see what happens with all of this...Robi~- Raging mad!
So I just received a horrible phone call from my doctors office. According to them the hospital is closing down the bariatric program "because bariatric surgery is not in the hospitals future plans" and that means no surgery for me! I was scheduled for a week from today and have been doing a 2 shake and one meal diet since the 1st of the year!!!!!!!! So I called the hospital CEO and they told me that the office is staying open until April and I should not have to miss my surgery. Well I called back my doctors office who is now telling me the Hospital is lying to me, yes they are staying open until April but only to help patients(who have already had surgery) transfer to new clinics, so that they can get hooked in with services for fills etc. and that the hospital halted their surgery rights. At this point I am raging mad! I have worked so hard since July!!!!!! I do not think it is fair to call someone right before hand and tell them oh, too bad you are going to have to start all over somewhere else! I did get an appointment in Denver, (about 1 1/2 hours away) to restart, I can't but feel like maybe this is a sign that I shouldn't do this, or that I dodged a bullet. I have a hard time believing that that is why the office is getting closed down? Northern Colorado Medical Center is supposedly a nationwide center for bariatric excellence. ugh, discouraged and just plain pissed off! I don't know exactly what my rights are, but I have called the patient relation liaison and I will be filling out a grievance! And believe me I am very persistent, so don't be surprised if you see my fat ass on the news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Any January Surgery Bandsters?
MemeBear, I feel the same way! It is awesome how everyone can come together and support each other with our common goals in mind. And as far as age is concerned, hopefully the lap-band will be just the right tool to help us all live longer and happier lives!- Any January Surgery Bandsters?
BTW congratulations!!- Any January Surgery Bandsters?
pjones, can you explain? They told me to bring my c pap, but I thought it was if I had to spend the night. Ugh! So looking forward to being done with that thing once and for all!!!!- Any January Surgery Bandsters?

sorry for the multiple posts, the app is not that great on my phone- Happy 2014, off to a good start
Wow guys!! Thanks for the awesome dose of encouragement! It couldn't have come at a better time. Just got back grocery shopping for my family and I and I was starving. I decided to forgo the shake and have some canned chicken with mustard and salt and pepper, with a few green olives. I am glad I didn't go overboard and surprised how I am satisfied already. Feeling good, and I am getting more and more excited each day!- Any January Surgery Bandsters?
Good Luck DesertPixie!!! Your going to do great!! P.S. Whenever your feeling up to it, keep us posted as to how you are doing! Robi~- Who Is Getting Their Lap Band In January ?
Hey Lisa! I was feeling the same way a few weeks ago before I found this website. I was researching the procedure and complications and everything else online and it was giving me a lot of anxiety. Then I came across this site, where I have been able get answers to so many questions and questions I didn't even know I had! Most everything and everyone on here is positive and I think that has made the difference for me. Instead of filling my head with a bunch of what- ifs and negative thoughts and ideas about how things could go; I started reading and talking with others who have gone thru/are going thru this and it has actually lowered my anxiety and nervousness a great deal. Another thing that I find very positive is the way that everyone here is so supportive, encouraging and willing to provide whatever advice they can to help others out. I have not yet seen a post that was harsh or negative and that is why I keep coming back. The last thing I want to say to you that helped me with my nervousness, is just thinking about all of the health problems that I currently have and my overall unhappiness with my body and how these issues will just continue to get worse and stack up/ compared to what the risks or complications of the surgery are. To me, after I thought about this, it really helped me to realize I was completely sure that I am making the right choice for my future. Best of luck to you! Robi~ - Oink oink before pre-op liquids?
