  1. Hi There, I think you should get the fill, I haven't written a reply in a long time, but this time I feel compelled to ask you a question, Why do you think you are avoiding the fill, or slowing down your own progress? The reason I ask is this: I was banded August 23 2007 and I hit the same 70 pounds you did, but the first 50 flew off, then I started sabotaging myself, eating a little of this, some of that, I have had fills and honestly, If I do not stop the sabotoging, I will not loose more, and there is much more to loose! So I was reading your post and it occurs to me, Why do we do this to ourselves? I want the success, but there is a part of me, I think, that makes me believe, sometimes, alone in the dark, back in the corner of my head that thinks I can not be successful, and that is crap because I have been successful at many things, but yet, I could exercise more, eat the right things, You could get the fill, and yet we don't do the thing that would make all the difference in the world. It's a sad mind game that we have to Win! And so to you I wish/Pray for Winning, you can win and I can win! It's right there to reach out for, Do the right thing, Get your head where your Body is! and I will work on the exact same thing! Win Win Win you can do IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow I'm tired now that was way too emotional and way over due, Glad to be back on the site, maybe this will be the difference I need!
  2. I am totally there with you!!!! Even the haloween costumes for kids aretoo far on the sexy side! My daughter is 8 and I could not believe the sexy costumes that pranced by me at the halloween parade at school, sexy witches, diva stars, harem girls. I have to be very careful with the clothes, my daughter sees outfits at school, low rise jeans and belly showing shirts, I can't believe what these parents allow their young children to where, what happened to regular jeans and tee shirts for kids, 3rd grade is too young to be trying to dress like an 18 year old!
  3. Try Dr Otto, Libertyville Il Condell Hospital, (not accepting BC/BS) does fills in his office- recently relocated one month wait on fills until equipment is set up. also ENH(Evenston Northwest) has an office in vernon Hills and they have a Lap band specialist
  4. Hey Hey today is your day!!!! I was just banded one week ago today! It took this whole week to feel semi normal but you 2 will be up and at it real soon. Congratulations!!!!!!! We can finally have hope that has been missing for a long time!
  5. I have 3 kids. 13,9, & 8. I just had surgery on 8/23. I explained the surgery to my 13 year old separately than the smaller ones. He was all excited, he had seen commercials on tv. The other 2 I told in a very relaxed setting in very simplistic terms they could understand. My middle son, was the most concerned about a doctor cutting me open, When I explained that the doctor was making small holes sticking a camera in, he was just fine, after I showed them the small incisions. In retrospect, I am very glad i told them. They have been helpful with the liquid diet and bring alot of joy to me when they are joking about soup and jello. I am not sure if I would have discussed it with younger children. I think this is really a personal desicion and depends on each families level of communication. I think they were glad that I was honest with them and ultimately I want to foster that type of honestly from them to me, i think if i felt as if I were hiding something, they would have sensed it. Good Luck it is a difficult decision
  6. WOw you are back to work quick, my doc can't see me till 2 weeks from today, by then I will be bored out of my mind, My husband encouraged me to go through my closet and throw away all of the old clothes that I will not wear as I go down, Some work clothes I am taking to the dry cleaner even though they are too small now, I plan to fit them. The rest to goodwill, he made me promise to buy new stuff as I go down. It was fun and productive. It also put my mind in a good place for today. Tommorrow I plan to do the dressers if I can bend down. I haven't cooked alot of food this week. My kids are living on boxes and quick meals, Maybe I will make something good tonight. (good for them) Its hard to take your mind off food if your cooking it! Hey have a great day today! One more day closer!
  7. Hey Rumar, I am certainly looking for someone to journey with! I haven't tried to drink milk yet. My doctor said 1 week clear liquids, but I just noticed in my literature that it says stage 2 at 4 to 6 days after surgery. Today I made some oriental flavored Ramen broth(without the noodles) And I must have been hungry, because before I know it I had sipped almost 8 oz in less than 15 minutes. When I realized it, it was too late, I was very uncomfortable for over an hour, I wont do that again! I do not think that I know what full feels like yet, but I now know what too full feels like! I know the liquids are hard, my children had pizza yesterday and I felt sad, But I did some self talk and got myself to think about how great it is going to feel to be thin, and I am sure that it is going to be well worth this sacrifice of 6 weeks. I was also thinking about some of the crazy diets that I endured in the past that never worked, some of those I did for longer than 6 weeks. It's also harder for us right now I think because we are recovering and not doing stuff like work, shopping ect. Being house bound is boring and I don't know about you, but I used to eat when I was bored. so now I'm just bored and trying to fill my time. Everyday will be easier for us! Tommorrow is almost here, one more day closer!
  8. Rumar, I was also banded on 8/23. How are you feeling? I'm on clear liquids, does the milk upset your stomach? I have tried tostay busy and not think about the food, maybe a project or craft would help right now.
  9. Jack, can you print your food journal from fitday?
  10. Hi PJanes Today was a bummer, went to the pre-op, and some of the blood tests were funky, dr wants more tests and possible postpone the surgery, He will give me his final recomendation on Fri. It's kind of silly but i am not worried about postponing the surgery, I am worried about extra weeks on the liquid diet or having to repeat the last week of all liquids at sometime in the future. I'm strong but this diet is not easy. I'm waiting til Fri to be truely disapppointed, I am holding out hope that an antibiotic that I was taking just through off the tests. Ps. Day 3 was the worst one for me on the liquids, make it through that and things get way easier(not great but easier)
  11. My surgery is scheduled for 7 am. My husband is also trying to fly under the radar. It's not working as well as he probably wants it too! I am very excited and nervous. My final PCP appointment is tommorrow. Are you on the liquid diet? 9 days and Counting!!!:girl_hug:
  12. Hi there, I'm new myself and being banded on August 23rd, I think the liquid diet I am on gives me a good reason to have second thoughts. THis approach to weight loss is not an easy way out. But for me it is the only way out. I have been on too many diets to count and have lost but not maintained. I think everytime you make a major life decision, there will be second thoughts and I am sure after the surgery we will have rough days when we wish we could eat the world. But nothing worth having is ever easy. Remember there is gold at the end of our rainbow!!!!
  13. Hi There, I know how you feel, I was not covered by my insurance company either, I was very excited and then the letter came. that was a year and a half ago. I thought about it, and finally came to the decision that this surgery was well worth the cost of a car. I took a loan on my 401k and will be banded on August 23rd. I know it seems like alot of money, but you are worth every penny. Keep your chin up!
  14. Yes, Yes, I am August 23rd also! I am on the liquid diet now for 6 days and the 23rd can't come soon enough. Yesterday was killer, I had a business meeting and the boss ordered pizza and pasta salad and chocolate cake! It sucked to sit there while my peers eat and I drank my soup. I have not told anyone at work, no support there, just a bunch of gossips and sharks. But enough of yesterday, today is a great day, I treated myself to a half day of work and got to hang out with my kids all morning. And I am so excited to share my special day with someone!!!!!! It's gonna be awesome on the other side and all of this will be well worth it!
  15. Did you ever notice that a normal size person will loose 10 pounds and the whole world stands up and takes notice, like they broke a new world record. I know that it is every bit as hard for us to loose the weight, yet 10 pounds does not cause the world to stop and take notice. I have seen amazing weight losses on this site and every pound is a success!:whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo: So my question for this tread is how many pounds did you loose in order for the world to take notice? and how did you feel about the attention? At the begining of my journey, MCENI
