  1. I had revision from band to sleeve this past November. I Love the sleeve so much better.... I lost about 100 pounds when I was banded in 2005 and slowly I gained it back. I take responsibility for that. However, I was vomiting at almost every meal and turned to foods that were sliders. in 2011 I went to a different clinic as I felt my current dr. was not listening to me about how much I was vomiting and the reflux. I would literally wake up choking at night because Water or whatever I drank prior to going to bed was coming up on me. My poor partner thought I was dying. Anyway, when the new dr. ordered an upper GI it showed the band was waaayyy tooooo tight and he opted to empty it and then refilled it a few months later. Even with the tiniest fill, I was vomiting and having nighttime reflux. I ended up getting sleeved this past November. My surgery was rough and I had some complications from having such bad scar tissue. An overnight hospital stay ended up being 4 days. Dr. said I had an infection on the lining of my stomach where the band was. After a couple of weeks I felt so much better. Also during the past year I was diagnosed with Fibro as I had such wide spread chronic pain..... After about a month after being sleeved, I noticed I wasn't in pain anymore. Dr. felt that having the infection could have caused some of the inflammation in my body. Super glad to be rid of that damned band.
  2. I was banded in 2005 and did lose 100 pounds.. Then my band slipped and I gained it back....I had revision on 11/27/13. I've lost at a good pace but recently found myself eating more and making some poor choices. I'm not afraid of failure but I am afraid of not getting to my goal. Those are two different fears I guess. At this point, I view the revision as a success as I have lost about 65 pounds. I want to loose more and I need to find the motivation to persevere. Some times I'm just like, "aIl I want is a frickin cookie". But there have been times, I've had a bite of said cookie and I think it wasn't as great as I anticipated it to be. So I guess those kind of experiences let me know that my craving isn't the same as it had been. If I have just a small bite, I'm happy with that and I can move on because it often isn't as good as I thought it would be.
  3. I have humana and they have been a nightmare to work with. I previously had lap band surgery and had a revision to sleeve this past November. Humana never told me there was a 25,000 cap for bariatrics and my surgery/hospital stay was 130,000. but to answer you question: they required 6 months supervised diet going to a center of excellence and I think there is BMI requirement
  4. I've looked at it too but I'm nervous as well... It's sooo hard to find clothes without trying them on first.
  5. Just wanted to add that my lapband caused esophageal dilation and dismotility and I had an infection on my stomach where the lap band was placed.....
  6. I had this happen and then insurance said they would pay for the revision~ part of it~ I agreed to pay for the lap band removal and they paid for the sleeve. However, what they neglected to tell me and to coordinator of the clinic I went to was that there is a 25,000 cap on this benefit. I had some complications and had a 4 day hospital stay to the tune of 130,000. It has been an insurance nightmare ever since.
  7. at two weeks out I could only do 15-20 minutes on the treadmill and increased the rate and incline each time I went. I still get lightheaded and have been told it's due to my blood pressure dropping. if you are on any blood pressure meds, make sure your doc knows how you are feeling..... you might need to come off of them. Amazing what a little weight loss can do!
  8. Thanks everyone.... I can't eliminate the stress, a lot of it is work related (I'm a social worker/therapist in child welfare) the other stress is money~ my insurance is only covering 25,000 of my 130,000 dollar surgery and hospital stay. It makes me ill to think of this amount of debt! Definitely going to eat a balanced dinner and go to bed early!
  9. I'm 12 weeks out tomorrow. My life has been super stressful and I have been eating ALL day long.... A Protein bar here, a yogurt there, some berries here, oatmeal all to the tune of over 900 calories and I haven't had dinner. I know saying I'm stressed is an excuse and I am accountable but I don't know how to just jump back on the wagon. I haven't had this type of "binge" since surgery and I'm scared.
  10. I had my band removed and conversion to sleeve on 11/27 and am down 62 pounds.
  11. Everyone is soooo different. I was off a full 6 weeks from work and it was the best thing for me. I had a very rough surgery (mine was a conversion from lap band to sleeve) full of recovery complications, a 4 day stay in the hospital and a lot of pain. I felt much better by week 4 but was still very fatigued. I did start walking on a treadmill at the gym but could only manage 15-20 minutes. Be patient and all the best to you.
  12. Yes I had the band removed and was sleeved on 11/27/13.
  13. Last Friday I was supposed to have a follow up apt. with the nurse practitioner, only to have the program manager call me to cancel it. Obviously prior to my surgery the surgery was submitted for approval and after an appeal it was approved (well, one of them were approved, I have to self pay to have the band removed). However, Humana is stating they have a 25,000 cap per life time for Bariatric care. and they paid the hospital their 25,000. Unfortunately, this 25,000 cap was never communicated to me nor to the program manager who submitted the claim for approval. Needless to say this leaves me with a $130,000 bill. My surgery had complications and I was in the hospital for 4 days. I'm so frustrated. I am going to appeal but I don't think it's going to make a difference. I cannot afford this....Had I known this was the case, I would have opted for different treatment and possibly somewhere else. Anyone else ever experience this?
  14. bea I know somewhere in this massive thread is your spread sheet, can you post it again because I can't find it. I don't remember what my weight was at the start of the challenge.

  16. I will definitely talk with the hospital..... Unbelievable. I haven't received a bill yet from the hospital and this is just of the EOB sent from Humana.
  17. I received my EOB today from Humana for my surgery in November. Mind you I was in the hospital 4 days and had some serious complications. My part of the bill is 124,950. That's right kids over a hundred thousand dollars. I had a preauthorization, I did everything by the book and now I am stuck with a bill that will bankrupt me. Advice?
  18. I have humana. I just had revision from lap band to sleeve on 11/27. Humana paid for the lap band in 2005 and then denied revision and then reversed part of their decision after an appeal. I had to pay for the removal of the band and Humana paid for the sleeve..... At least that's what the prior authorization said but I haven't received a bill yet.
