  1. I feel great. The first couple of days i had a hard time with keeping up with the 64 ounce. I lost 10 pounds since surgery which was last week Tuesday. Other then that i feel really good. Thanks for asking Has your Steri-Strips fallen off yet? What does your doctor think of you progress so far? I go in for my first pre-op appointment tomorrow and I have not gone back to work yet. I'm down 14.9 lbs so far and feel great!
  2. From one post you can make the judgement I'm living in the past? I said my truth, honest feelings I have from time to time I have to deal with. I have also said I love having this opportunity, as well as I'm blessed for this second chance. My long winded point in my original post was to show those who are not sleeved yet there are some low points and a mental aspect you have to overcome. For me, I have to revisit the past with my psychologist to understand the decisions I make with food and how I can make lasting change in the future. That isn't holding on to the negativity, that is setting myself up to not repeat mistakes and end up here again. We all have to face our reality of who we are and how we can make changes to become better versions of ourselves. I can name 100 things I love about being sleeved, but it would be naive to not allow myself to understand and share with others some of the drawbacks. I'm not trying to argue with you, but two assumptions were made about where I'm at and what I needed without knowing the facts behind what I said. I also wish you the best of luck, I wish nothing but success for all of us. I will leave it here, I used the term "my viewpoints" I wasn't trying to psycho analyze you! I was not a food addict and some on this site are. I made poor portion selection. The good comes with the bad. We are all different, I guess at my age and stage of my belief, I have learned to challenge my thoughts positively/differently! Yes, success to us all!
  3. Congrats! I was sleeved 12/5/13, great feeling.
  4. I agree....the doctor and insurance are two separate entities. The insurance company may or may not want an outcome ( gain or loss weight). It's just a formality prior to approval. Your doctor may work more with you as he/she understands your struggles with weight lost. My doctors office was great I had a question I would call them and they would look into it for me.
  5. How are you feeling Linda? Today should be your last day on clear fluids. How has your experience been with your sleeve so far?
  6. Have a safe recovery! I'm 5 days out and loving it, we all have different results. However, I'm down 13lbs. I pray for speed recovery! Tell your wife you'll be in recovery before she knows it.
  7. Wow, I'm sure it's possible but a BMI at 100!
  8. Im 6 days out and getting the hang of it all. I have never listened to something so hard in my life! I listen to the sounds of my sleeve to know what it wants. Call me crazy but whether it be water or warm clear fluids.....it doesn't make noises anymore once it's needs are meet! As long as this continues, my sleeve and I will be great company. P.S. Gas gets better on day five : )
  9. I was waiting for someone to point that out to me! My post was simply to show that this is hard work, these are the things we have to deal with, it's not all weight loss and wonderful feeling. She wanted to know my reality, this is what it is. I wanted to be brutally honest because people who want to know about surgery need to be prepared for all elements, this whole thing has a very important mental element. Now let me be clear. I wake up and make the decisions I do because I am blessed to have this opportunity, and I understand how important my hard work is. Do I regret it, hell no I do not. This was the best decision for me completely, but it doesn't mean I can't be mad, angry, disappointed in myself for letting it get this far. And that is what working with a professional has made me realize. But from my viewpoint your still living in the past which can easily contaminate you brighter future. I'm not saying your wrong for displaying your true thoughts.....no. I'm say it's time to get to work! I'm not sure how far out you are but excess skin is an issue for me. Go to the gym changes my mindset. We in prison ourselves in a body with little hopes of ever being able to live. How many people get two chances to live? I'm just saying make the best of it. I have been through soooooooooo much in a two year period. There are "moments" when I revert to the "poor me one phase". That sh** only last that moment because I made it through that time in my life. I don't want to relive that dark place. I give myself a pat on the back because whether I came around it, over it or through it......I'm better today than I was yesterday and not even my mind can steal my joy. I wish you the best of luck.
  10. I think you need to see someone who can help you through this.
  11. My Steri-Strips are itching so bad, I understand that means my incisions are healing. But I'm so scared to shower, I saw my flesh coming out of one of them. OMG!!!!
  12. Sorry I'm only 4 days out. You should contact you surgeon immediately.
  13. It has taken me an hour to drink 3oz. of cranberry and water mixture. Is this normal? Four days out, I'm freaking out about dehydration!
  14. I also have Humana, did they require you to do 6 mnths diet? If not your soooooo lucky. No 6 months supervised weight loss. That was not a requirement for the plan I have through Humana.
  15. I'm four days post op and I've been feeling a little cough coming on. So naturally I tried to cough (unconsciously), Holy moly my sleeve almost came up my esophagus (or so it felt).
  16. How did you calculate the calories down to the rice wine? I'm having a hard time counting the smallest items that do not show serving sizes. Like vegetables.
  17. I four days post op and I'm still getting to know my sleeve all kinds of things are happening in my abdominal cavity. Because of this it bring horrible gas pains. But yet the best decision of my life. Down 9.6 lbs
  18. Hi! I have Humana and I didn't meet my deductible by my surgery date. I was asked during my pre-op screening to pay what they thought I owed, I disagreed with the amount the receptionist stated I owed. She said that maybe claims were not sent in yet but that would not effect my surgery. And it did not, I was not asked for a dime on my surgery date. Good luck!
  19. Thanks everyone! I was able to get 31 out of the recommended 64 oz on day three. I'll try again tomorrow.
  20. Happy Birthday! You have accomplished your goal!
