Having A Tough Time? Are You?
Yea my doc won't operate if I smoke so I am really trying hard to stop! I'm also very unpleasant! I have high blood sugar so I stopped eating sugar and been trying Splenda and truvia, I bought decaf coffee and tried with the sweeteners and they were not pleasant but I guess that's something to get used to. Even before I saw a surgeon my pcp made me start making these changes because of my health conditions so it's everything wrapped into one! No smoke, no sugar, no salt, no fatty or fried or fast food... Which is a good thing to give up just a lil hard when you have a life surrounded by all these things... Guess I'll try and take one step at a time!

Having A Tough Time? Are You?
Ok I just ordered a kit from e-cig.com ran me $55 but hopefully it works so that won't be a waste I bought it in Newport flavor, I really hope this works I want to feel like I've accomplished something during my pre-op process not only to have surgery but also for a long healthy life without smoking!!! Just to think of all the nice clothes I can buy with the money I save from not buying packs and packs!

Having A Tough Time? Are You?
I am having such a hard time converting my life from what it was! Smoking whenever I want, eat real sugar and caffeine, eat whatever I want! Although I am pre-op I'm training myself from now to start living differently, but I've realized it's harder than I thought and became quite overwhelmed! I'm on Zyban a medication to help me quit smoking and I have been getting these migraines from hell!!!! I fall asleep and wake up with them it's hard to think!!! I can't take it! I even screamed I don't want this surgery anymore!!!!!! But the truth is I do want it and I need it because of diabetes and sleep apnea. I understand life isn't easy! I want to know has anyone else felt like this???

Marriage Problems 2 Mo. Out
I understand sometimes people like to add a little excitement to their very routine like lives... It seems like you just want some type of love and affection that maybe your husband forgot to give you, and this other man excites you and makes you feel sexy, something you haven't felt in a while! That's why you can't get him out of your head because he stimulated thoughts and feelings inside you that you forgot you had! Don't let people make you feel bad about having these feelings because your a human woman who deserves to feel wanted!!!! But on the other hand you 2 are married! Figure out if you want to be with this man or stay with hubby. People grow apart it's a part of life. See if hubby wants to rekindle some of that fire and do things to atleast make an effort in putting some spark back into your union. You'll see then what you want to do! Best of luck to you hun! It's your life. You only live once! Live, love, laugh!

Hey Guys I Need Some Advice....
I completely understand your concerns about having this surgery. But if you valued anyone else opinion wouldn't you have told them even before you started your process? My point is this surgery is for you! Your health! Your self-esteem and your body! Taking in to consideration your boyfriends feelings if he loves you he will understand why you felt you even wanted this surgery! My fiancé backs me up 100% we made this decision together as he would be the one helping me throughout it all and he knows why it means so much to me not only health wise but esteem wise also. All the best to you girl! Hopefully he comes around to support you 100% in your decision and don't worry you'll be fine!

Smoking...ugh!
Girllll I am trying so hard to quit now!!! From 15 cigs a day I'm down to 3-4 I've tried the patch and chewing gum... Now I started Zyban and it seems to be helping with cravings I'm sure in a week or so I shouldn't be smoking at all ( I hope) it truly is a battle especially if you have been smoking for years I've been smoking for 10 years! Good luck to u on quitting because our new lease on life doesn't include smoking girl!

I'm Sick Of People Telling Me I'm Not Fat!
Some people have said that to me, and I would reply oh ok so let me gain another 100 lbs so I can fit your description of what's fat enough for surgery!!!!! People are so quick to say remarks but be the first person to hate on you when you do lose the weight!.........I am 5'6" 266 lbs bmi: 43.4... I am fat enough for me!!!!!

How Long Did You Think About It Before You Decided?
I had a few friends that had done the surgery and seeing all they had to do and change seemed pretty hard to me, giving up soda? Noooo way I said! But then a few years later I saw myself in a picture and broke down as I saw myself I was not happy with what I saw, so I started a diet cut out all soda, juice, rice, pasta, and starting counting calories, exercise, water water water! I did lose weight but I did not keep it on then after multiple attempts of trying to diet I just gained and gained, so I made the life changing decision to get Rny, I am pre op I'm hoping for feb or mar surgery date! I am now ready to make the change and get a new lease on life!!!!!!

How long did it take you to get the list? Because I didn't get a list, they've made an appt for me to see the nut on jan 29th 2 months away! They are so booked and even put me on a waiting list! I'm not trying to rush anything because it will happen sooner or later but I'm just trying to understand my process a lil more, sometimes I feel lost! Lol</blockquote> Totally understand, after I saw the nutritionist the nurse came in and gave me my list of appointments to make....when I was going through the process it wasn't as booked as it is now....but when you do get your list, spend some time on the phone to make every appointment....write don Wn all the dates for your appointments, and check off every thing you have done so far....Dr. choi is the best...girl I was rushing too ii couldn't wait it's a new lease on life....I'm supposed to speak at a meeting, I will let u know when I'm going I'll probably will meet you....you have to do 2 meetings....they wanted me to guest speak....once ur appts are made watch how fast time goes ii swear I'm sure it will go faster than I think! Thanks for you support! Please don't forget to invite me to the support group your suppose to be speaking at, I'll be there lol! Add me on IG Amanda_820_ or Facebook.com/worthyoflove213

Time To Introduce Myself
My friend got her surgery at st. Luke's about 3 years ago! I'm at montifiore in the Bronx. My process seems so slow I wonder if I had chosen a diff doc or insurance if it would have went faster. I have health first and Medicaid, what insurance do you have if you don't mind me asking? And did you have to see a nutritionist?

Bronx , NY?
I'm doing my Rny at montifiore with dr. Choi also, she's great my only issue is there so booked to get an appt is 2 months away with the nutritionist

Met My Surgeon Today! :)
Today I met with dr. choi my surgeon (she is lovely) and she recommends I get Rny over any other procedure due to my acid reflux and risk of diabetes, I'm going to have to get a sleep study for my sleep apnea, a endoscopy to see if I have any ulcers and all the other basic appointments needed! So far so good! Looks like it will take a few months for me but it's cool as long as I get there 1 day it will be well worth the wait!
