My journey started about 4 years ago. I have done 2 doctor supervised weight loss plans but I still was only able to lose 20 lbs after thousands of dollars spent. Armed with the diet plans and the knowledge of what I needed to do I was more than determined to lose this weight. I exercised daily every day, I logged my food, and kept my PCP informed monthly as to what and how I was doing. I lost a total of about 8 more lbs. So, after giving it my all I finally relented and talked with my PCP and asked for a recommendation. She was excited that I asked and gave me a referral letter that day. So, my first seminar was last October 2013. Got my appointment within a 10 days and saw the surgeon. He sent me for a Sleep Study where I found out that I had Severe Sleep Apnea, never would I have thought of this in a million years all I knew was I never felt rested. A month after I saw the surgeon the Hospital Administration closed there Bariatric Clinic siting lack of funding. So being determined me and my bariatric buddy scheduled another seminar about 30 minutes away. We traveled to the seminar and stayed for there support group meeting. We discussed it and we both had a funny feeling about this particular program. Even though I got my insurance approval within 2 weeks we both went with our gut feeling and decided to set up a consult With Dr. Stowers at My Bariatric Solutions in Decatur, Texas. We both got our appts within 15 minutes of each other. We all were very impressed with Dr. Stowers and decided he would be our dr, that was on a Friday. On the following Monday I got the call that I had been approved 100% and they were ready to schedule my surgery which I did for July 8th. I'm a happily married wife and mom of 5 adult kids and a grandmother of 19. This surgery means a lot to me as I would like to see my grandkids graduate high school, get married, and god willing be there for the birth of my great-grandchildren. That's my story.
