  1. I have been getting the same reactions from people and it's making me really question myself. I have heard you aren't that big and you don't have that much to loose why can't you do it yourself. I've heard it so much I am wondering why I can't do it myself? I am going crazy with self doubts now. I really need to find a way to shake it off and get back on a positive foot.
  2. Thank you it is so nice to hear how well you were feeling afterwards. So you had to have a pain pump? That is not something I have heard of? Do you know if all patients have a pain pump after the procedure? Was the removal hard or painful?
  3. I am so thankful I found this thread. I have been seeing too much negativity and the anxiety had spiked so high I have noticed myself trying to back out. All of your positive words are helping get me back on track with positive thoughts and confidence.
  4. Please keep us updated on your journey. I am scheduled for 12/5 and the anxiety has kicked in full force. I free these next few weeks are going to kill me!
  5. So glad to hear you are feeling better.
  6. According to the civil aviation authority you are safe to fly 24 hrs after keyhole surgery (small hole with special instruments)
  7. Yeah that is great. So glad it went well.
  8. I am traveling from Washington to have my surgery done by dr umback. How was it traveling afterwards? Did you stay through Monday? Were you able to leave the hotel and get some sights in?
  9. I'm going to have to talk to the surgeons office some more. They never told me flying was an issue when I said I wanted to fly home the next day. They are more conserved that if something else arises like my appendix bursts from the shock of surgery that no doctor in my home state will help me because I had weightloss surgery. The anxiety of being away from kids that long is killing me. I am terrified to be away from them. I am not sure why I cannot get over it and just suck it up. The surgery it's self does not have me worried just being gone and then having to fly home alone which I've never done either.
  10. I'm sure the stall won't last too long. Thank you for sharing your story. Hearing how well people are doing and how well they bounced back is very comforting and gives me great hope that I'll be able to fly home sooner rather than later.
  11. How are you doing? How were the first 24 hrs? How long did the nausea last?
  12. Good luck. Praying you have a quick easy recovery.
  13. I am a self pay dec 5th sleeve. My insurance is covering the EKG, blood work and nutrition support. I tend to have a high pain tolerance and bounce back quickly from things. My youngest was born at home because I didn't know I was progressing so quick and I was up immediately walking around doing stuff. I am hoping for the same sort of recovery with this. I want to fly home ASAP and not be stuck alone in a hotel room.
  14. Thank you. The surgeons office keeps saying 72 hrs, but they don't have my post op until 4 days later. I am really hoping to fly home sooner, I will miss my kids terribly!
  15. My date is 12/5/13 with dr. Umback. I am most scared about being alone in Las Vegas for a few days after surgery. Are any of you going out if town for your procedure? How long are you waiting before you travel home?
  16. Thank you. It makes me feel better to know there is hope that I might be able to fly home sooner than the 4 days they are saying.
  17. I am flying from Washington to Las Vegas. It's about a 2.5hr flight and then about an hr drive home from the airport. They want me to stay in town for 4 days after surgery, but I really don't think I will make it that long. I paid extra to have my flight home adjustable so I think ill just play it by ear after surgery and hope to come home with in a couple days. How far is your flight?
  18. Anyone else out there having the sleeve on 12/5/13 with dr. Umbach? That is my scheduled day and I am already starting to get nervous.
  19. Toughing it out the plane to home sounds so much better to me than a hotel room by myself too
  20. I'm flying about 2 hrs out of state to have the sleeve and I do not think I can bare being away from my kids for 6 days. They have me flying in on wed morning, surgery Thursday and then post op not until Monday. I am thinking of flying home on Saturday and doing post op with my pcp. Anyone suggestions, opinions, experiences with flying home less than 48hrs after.
