Normal....or not
I'm about 5 weeks out and I just want to know if the following is normal: - Difficult getting all of my fluids in (burping, foaming and lots of mucous) - food is VERY uncomfortable going down (spasms and it feels like it's going to come back up), but certain foods are ok - Light headedness and tired most of the time (I'm assuming it's because I'm borderline dehydrated) - I generally have no desire for food because it doesn't feel good, so there's no joy in eating for me anymore I'm sad and had been having off and on feelings of regretting the surgery.
-
Boy did I mess up *sigh*
I'm feeling kind of jealous. I'm 5 weeks out and most foods still feel uncomfortable going down. I'm too scared to eat anything that resembles sugar. It's kind of depressing. Don't beat yourself up too much, you'll get back on track. We can't always be perfect in our choices.

Insurance Trick - Individual Plan
I'm in South Jersey. My doctor was Dr. Christopher Boynton in Lumberton, NJ (Burlington County). My insurance is Advantage EPO Silver. My premium is $549 per month, but I'm sure there are other plans that cover bariatric surgery that are cheaper. Take a look at www.ehealthinsurance.com. I hope this helps!

Insurance Trick - Individual Plan
Hey there! I posted on here on 1/23/14. I'm now 4 weeks post op from sleeve surgery and 25 pounds lost so far. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield NJ was the insurance that I purchased and they gave a quick approval. Keep the faith and keep pushing.

How much weight did you loose in the first 4 weeks?
4 weeks out, lost 25 pounds.

Does that stuck food feeling (along with the slimy and foaming) ever go away?

to my hispanic sleevers!
I'm not Hispanic, but a Puerto Rican friend made me some red Beans (seasoned with adobo, sazon, etc.) and I mixed in some cooked ground turkey, absolute heaven! My sleeve loved it! I didn't even have to mash it up, I just chewed real well. I can eat 4-5 ounces and it's full of Protein. She showed me how to make it, so it will definitely be something I'll eat a lot of.

What happens to the girls ?

He's with the same surgical group as Dr. Neff (Advocare). Here is the link for Dr. Boynton's practice http://www.advocaredoctors.com/SSBurlington/index.aspx

Coffee
That's funny, my mom just asked me a few minutes ago if I've had any coffee (she spent the night and wants coffee this morning). I bought some decaf before my surgery and haven't had one drop. I could drink it, but I don't have a craving for it. I'll make some this morning and see if I still like it.

Very light headed- is this normal?
I'm experiencing this as well, until I realized yesterday that I have been taking my bp meds same as before. Called my pcp and he told me to stop all meds. I have an appointment on Thurs. He wants me to self monitor and document my bp readings. Right now it's still pretty low, causing lightheadedness, no energy, etc., but my doc. assured me that when it gets to a "normal" level, I'll feel better. In order for him to see where my bp really is, I need to be off the meds. and let them get out of my system. I feel like dooky on a stick, but I'm sure like everything else, it will get better.
