The Best Health Inurance For Bariatric Sleeve Surgery
Because I'm an independent contracted worker, I pay for my own health insurance. My current policy falls under the old health care laws and will not cover any type of surgery until I'm on the policy for one year (April 2014). I received a notice that the policy will be canceled April 2014 anyway (because it doesn't abide by the new healthcare laws), so I have to change health insurance coverage before I submit for the surgery. Right now I have Horizon BCBS of NJ and can easily change over to one of their other plans. I was just wondering (since my options are now open) are there companies that anyone believes is more bariatric sleeve surgery friendly? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Let Me Try That Again. Do People Really Eat Baby Food During The Soft Phase
Here's a great recipe that I use right now as a salad dressing and it's full of protein. 2oz of cashew nuts (raw/unsalted), 1 orange (peeled and cut into pieces), a splash of apple cider vinegar, sea salt, black pepper and garlic powder to taste. You can blend It in one of those small baby food blenders or food processor until it's smooth. You can add water to thin it out a bit. I'm sure this can be eaten during the pureed stage It's soooooo yummy and has 10 grams of protein. Enjoy!

No More Doubts!
If I had any doubts at all if I'm doing the right thing by getting the sleeve, they are gone for good! I had my sleep study last night and as I'm walking through the lobby of the facility, I lost my footing and fell flat on my back. My back went out on me earlier in the day, so my back and legs already felt weak (I have spinal nerve damage). Well, the front desk person freaked out (because my head hit the hard tile floor, but thank God I had my hair in a bun, so it cushioned the impact). It took two security guards to pick me up. At that point, I felt more humiliated and embarrassed than anything else. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well last night, all of the wires, uncomfortable bed, etc., and this morning I was sore (from the fall). The upside is that the facility and their employees get an A+. They were very caring, kind and compassionate and that's important in the medical profession. I have a multitude of medical issues, but mentally (and physically) I can only handle one thing at a time and I KNOW that the first thing on the list is to lose weight and the rest will follow. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

At The End Of The Day...
Thanks again guys! If I didn't have this board I don't know what I would do. Most people like my mom, sister, etc. probably get tired of me talking about my journey and everything that I have to do, but this place right here...everyone understands and is going through the same thing, so it's comforting for me. I've just had a bad few days. Had a minor fender bender with my car, worried about my insurance covering all of the pre-op, have to change insurance companies before submitting for approval because my current plan will be canceled because it doesn't fit into the new healthcare laws. And we all know that the new health insurance program is all backed up because of computer glitches. I'm trying to stay positive but it gets difficult at times.

At The End Of The Day...
Thanks guys! All of these doctor's appointments were really getting to me today. Found out I have to have a sleep study and chest X-Ray. You see a doctor, then expect more appointments after that, it seems. like it never ends.

At The End Of The Day...
It hit me this morning that it doesn't matter how many people you have "supporting" you, at the end of the day, you travel this journey just like you came into this world...alone. No one really, truly understands what you go through each and everyday living a body that's holding you hostage. Quite honestly, this is the only place where I can really vent and speak my true mind. Pardon me while I have this moment. Pity, party of one, your table is ready:(
