  1. Thanks for the thread, maybe these geniuses will get rid of it.
  2. I typed in B C , not spaced for B C powder and it changed it to birthcontrol. What, lap band talk doesn't give me credit for being able to type what I mean?
  3. In the digestive system, mucus is used as a lubricant for materials which must pass over membranes, e.g., food passing down the esophagus. Those banded w/ restriction, the first few bites go down into the pouch. But if you keep eating, the other bites hang out in the esophagus longer, causing a build up of this mucus aka slime. It now will either carry it down to the pouch or expell it. hope this helps
  4. No, but my gallbladder went out 10 years ago just because I was dieting and losing weight fast. I hate that for you as I still remember that pain...I remember that more than childbirth. I'd do the 2 surgeries, but consult w/ other MDs because I don't see why they couldn't do it at the same time...it's both done laproscopically. Good luck!
  5. I am a migraine sufferer but took Topirimate, the only cure for migraines...they say it's not a treatment, but a cure. Crystal Lite set off my migraines. The only flavor I could drink was sunny orange. Any of the other ones I got an awful headache. Now I use kool aid brand coolaid w/ a splenda/sugar mix. But I say away from lemonaid....that for some reason really kills me. lemonaid flavor of anything. Except of course real lemons that I do myself.
  6. Don't know, but I took Alli just for that effect, as you may have heard many go thru constipation with dieting...and with the band. Didn't work a bit and I took 3 a day for weeks. Guess my fat intake wasn't high enough....hmmm...maybe I should try Atkins or something to see if a higher fat diet would work..... any thoughts?
  7. That sensation of it hanging around longer and not going straight thru...that's a sign of restriction. It's funny you say Water seems to bring that one more than anything. I agree. I have to drink thru a straw now...something I've not heard anyone else say. Of course, I'm a lifelong gulper and the straw helps me sip. You are off to a great start!
  8. I eat normal, regular food. But instead of 3 servings at one sitting, I eat about half a serving now. It's about choice, and I've chosen not to diet with the band, to let the band do it's job. Oh, don't get me wrong, I've made major lifestyle changes and gave up some bad stuff. There's no use in getting the band if I didn't change my behavior. For me, it's eat what I can tolerate.
  9. I eat regular food. I don't drink Pepsi like I did preband. I don't drive thru like I did preband. I don't eat even half as much food as I did preband. Yesterday I had a slice of cinnamon raisin bread, toasted w/ apple butter; a 32 oz Mt. Dew; a handfull of tostitos w/ salsa; and for supper I baked pork chops and made sesame seed bun pork chop sandwiches with seasoned fries. I ate all the toast. I drank less than half the drink, but it was mostly ice so eventhough the cup said 32oz, it only held about 20...so I had about 10 oz. I ate half the sandwich and about 3 fries. With the band, if you let the band do it's job, you don't have to cottage cheese and slim fast yourself to death. Because I had soda yesterday, today will be no calorie drinks, and I'll up the veggies today. It's all choices and moderation. (didn't mention the workouts because I don't exercise) - but you should! I don't want to be blasted because I said I don't exercise.
  10. Hi, Inamed, makers of the Lapband system have guidelines for prospective patients. The US FDA has stricter guidelines. But with a bmi of only 27, you are only overweight...not even obese....the cdc considers a bmi of 30 or greater to be obese. Congrats on being only 3 bmi points above 'normal'. Since the band treats morbid obesity...you are very far away from that. But that's Inamed....maybe you could find another manufacturer that treats just people overweight and not obese. Good luck and don't give up on weight loss.
  11. Hey, is that altern good? Well, I'm sure it is if you use it! But does it have a different taste than Splenda or is it processed the same way Splenda does and Walmart is now doing it?
  12. Thanks mrsjones and kandice for posting this. So heartburn was it for you? I'm thinking so gut wrenching pain...like gallstones pain or something....no? And you had your 6 years? Wow! Let us know how you do w/ the new band!
  13. Yes. But when you get restriction, you may have to crush them. But talk to your doctor...they will help you.
  14. You've got to think outside the box. When I was on a liquid diet, it was to be on liquids...no other purpose. Not low cal, low fat, low anything...just liquids. So, I poured milk in w/ Froot Loops and just drank the milk. I drank hot chocolate. pumpkin Soup. along with all the other broths, liquids, etc. But if you are on a special liquid diet, like low cal or something, this wouldn't work for you. Hang in! It's all going to be worth it soon.
  15. Sugar/Splenda blend I used to buy it that way in their bag but found a 5lb bag of sugar and a normal bag of splenda...I can mix it myself for cheaper. For baking I use their brown sugar, however, some recipes it doesn't work as you are looking for 'quantity' of sugar and w/ the splenda brown sugar you use half...so the consistancy isn't right.
  16. Yes, I still do. I used to drink several a day - Pepsi. But since being banded I have some every once in a while. But I do have them when I get headaches, seems I go thru withdrawal and it kills me! I know I have to get this licked, but this is all a process. And if I don't use a straw, I seem to drink too much and it comes back up. Of course, I'm a lifelong gulper. So I probably don't drink right.
  17. Get a ticker, I got mine from tickerfactory.com. Right click on your ticker (not the code...but that actual pic of the ticker) Copy come to lapbandtalk and log in click Edit Profile - right hand side of screen edit signature - left side of screen paste it save hope this helps
  18. Susan, you are just like me. I got the band so I wouldn't ever have to attempt another diet. Reducing the amount of food has been key, and what I think the band was created to do. I saw on the news a special about dieting and weightloss and 2 women had bowls of Soup, 1 at the bowl and stopped. The other ate, and ate...she had a bottomless bowl. I think they said she ate 3x as much. So it is about being satisfied with food. Eating just enough.
  19. I typed in B C for B C Powders and the site changed it to birthcontrol...B C. hahahahah:laugh:
  20. I don't think any of them work for a real migraine..... Excedrin if taken at the onset of the migraine, can halt it in it's tracks. Goody's/BC can often take the edge off...but not the pressure. All the others, didn't work for me. Others will post what has worked for them.
  21. If someone told me I could never have soda again.... I'd die! I've been addicted since I was a teen having burping contests on warm Dr. Pepper. And funny thing, I can't drink w/o a straw now. I carry them in my purse, take 2 or 3 instead of one at the gas station... weird! Everyone is different, for sure. So May 30th! We'll be rooting for you!
  22. Excedrin ...but now I use Goody's powders. Hey, angelface, are you a migraine suffer? There is this drug I found a few years back that a side effect is weightloss. It's an anti-sesiure medication but trials resulted in less frequent migraines in their patients. Knock out 2 birds w/ 1 stone! Topirimate. The only CURE for migraines, is now FDA approved in the treatment of migraines. Good luck.
  23. Yes, it's withdrawal. I commend your efforts, but you are doomed for failure...so Dr. Phil would say. Making lifestyle changes are great, but you should tackle 1-2 at a time AND do soul searching at the same time. You must replace one behavior with another and doing more than 1-2 at a time...that's alot to do. Good luck!
  24. I can only imagine it's a tad simpler than implanting the band. They just remove it...same as putting it in. Only, they will probably take a look at your innards to check for damage.
  25. I don't think everyone goes thru it. I didn't.
