    Finally...

I am approved!! My insurance company denied the 1st request for band to sleeve but after the last upper GI showed the paraesophageal hitial hernia and reflux, sleeve was not the best option. The coordinator submitted the appeal last Tuesday. I was approved me for the gastric bypass. My letter came today. So excited and nervous at the same time!!
  2. I received my surgery date today. I'm having lapband removal, hiatal hernia repair, RNY all in one surgery. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Any advice would be appreciated on how to calm my nerves. Thanks

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hey Everyone. I had a scary moment last week. To make a long story short, had abdominal pains which confirmed by ct scan ended up being a small bowel obstruction. I had surgery to remove the scar tissue that had wrapped around my small intestines. It wasn't alot but enough to cause the pain I was having. Not sure if it was related to my RNY. Everything in that area looked good in that area. The dr stated any surgery can cause scar tissue, which I've had laparoscopic surgeries in the past. I spent 5 days in the hospital but I'm better now. And out of the hospital! I hope everyone is continuing to do good.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hi Everyone, I go in for my 6 month check in next week. I've lost 52 since my revision from the lapband. It has been a slow process but I'm doing my best to be patient. I'm 191. The doctor's office expected me to be 180 in April. Maybe a miracle will happen and I will lose 11 pounds by next week..lol. I have lost alot of inches. I'm very pleased about that. I hope everyone else is doing good. I have 25 more pounds until goal!

I'm in the same boat. I've been between 195-197 the past 3 weeks. My goal is 165. When I had my last dr visit, they said I should be around 180 in April. I've been exercising more and getting my Protein in (80 grams a day). I'm hoping the weight loss picks back up soon...like really really soon!

I know how you feel. I was stalled for 3 weeks this last time. Before that, it was a 2 week stall a month after my surgery

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I am finally 199 (again). I haven't seen that number since a year after I had the lapband surgery. Hopefully I will never see that number again nor anything over 200 lbs now that I've had gastric bypass. The lowest I got with the band was 189. My weight loss has been slow but steady. I have 39 more pounds to my goal weight. I hope everyone else is doing well!

I think I am either going to cut it off or put braids back in my hair. It's so depressing to see how thin it is. I do have a spaces of misses hair too that I try to cover up as best as possible. I know it's just hair & I don't mind cutting it short but it's the thinness that makes it look so unhealthy. I am hoping that if I cut it, my hair will grow back thicker..??

I was 243 the day of my revision. After reading your reply, I am not drinking enough water and getting all my protein in on a daily basis. I will need to incorporate those two things as best as I can. Thank you so much for your input.

What do you ladies typically eat/calories per day. I am expected to lose slow (because of revision). I exercise 3-4 days a week but my weight loss is REALLY slow. Only 39 lbs since surgery date of 10/10/13. Currently I eat roughly 1000-1200 calories a day. Seems like it will take forever to lose these last 40 lbs or maybe I'm just being impatient. Please help.

Ok thanks for the replies. I guess I now know I can not eat sugary cereal and carnation drinks. I guess it is a live and learn situation. I probably had no business eating it but I had to improvise until my protein mixes were delivered. I will do my best to stick to protein & vegetables. I have lost 38 lbs and still have 45 to go.

Hi..I am 3 and a half months out from revision from lapband to RNY. I have not had any dumping issues with foods...even with a little sugar or bite of something sugary. However, I had cereal yesterday & carnation instant breakfast drink today. 2 hours later I had some symptoms of dumping from both (yesterday & today). Is it possible to all of the sudden start having the dumping syndrome 3 months out? Had a s bite of birthday cake last week with no problems..but now I started with the issues. They were minor but scary. Unfortunately I have not been able to eat right the past few days. Ordered more protein shakes last week but delivery delayed. I live in ice covered Atlanta. .lol. no gym since Monday & snacking. Anyway, any one had late dumping months after surgery? Thanks

    Fears with Revision Surgery

I completely understand. I was scared too. I had my revision on 10/10/13. Lapband removal, hiatal hernia repair and bypass all at once. It's natural to be scared but you will do just fine. According to my doctor, the hardest part of my surgery was the hernia. I was in bad shape due to that band. I had a good recovery. I'm now 3 months and doing fine. I am a slow loser. I've only lost 35 pounds but I was expecting to lose slow...being that I had a revision. I do have restrictions. My struggle now is the water and protein. But I'm am being positive that everything will get better in due time. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi everyone. HW: 318 SW: 278 (lapband) 4/2008 Lost 90 lbs SW: 243 (Revision from lapband to RNY) 10/10/2013 CW: 208 GW: 155-160 my height is 5'6.
  24. Insurance denied my 1st attempt for revision; band showed no malfunction (although I was vomiting & food was getting stuck. I was hoping for band to sleeve; however latest upper GI says I have a paraesophageal hiatal hernia...reflux is bad. Sleeve is no longer an option. Now my doctors office is going to send an appeal letter for revision to RNY. Bariatric coordinator says it may not be approved just because it is a hernia & may not be band related. Of course, I'm hoping she is wrong. I sit here thinking should have done RNY in the 1st place instead of the band. I am 30 lbs away from gaining my weight back i lost with the band; which was 90 lbs. I'm just frustrated with the negative thoughts of the coordinator.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I'm 10 weeks post op. I've lost about 28 lbs plus several inches. My doctor's office told me I may lose slow because I was a revision (from the band). I'm ok with that as long as I'm losing. My energy level is great. I've recently started working out so maybe this will kick in more weight loss. I still need to increase my protein & water but its getting better. I hope everyone else is doing well!
