  1. Thank you. I will b having my surgery on August 5th. I start my pre op diet tomorrow. i go for my last pre op appointment and do all my registration at the hospital Tuesday the 30th.
  2. Congratulations. I got my call today too. I am scheduled for August 5. I'm so excited and a little nervous. Had my last eating out meal. My mom took me to eat at a Mexican restaurant. I ate too much. Tomorrow I start my pre op diet. No bueno! But I know it's all to start the next part of my journey. Proteins drinks and weighing my food for the next few weeks!!! Good luck to you both!!
  3. I finally got my approval. It was supposed to have been submitted to my insurance on the 10th but she didn't submit it till the 17th and I called today and was told it was approved. Now all I have to do is wait for Jennifer the surgery scheduler to set the surgery. Finally I feel I can breath now!!
  4. Jumping in the pool and actually being able to swim on the bottom and not shooting to the surface like a rocket because the fat makes you float, I used to hate trying to get something out of the drain in the deep end because I would jump in and touch the bottom and before I could grab whatever was in the drain my fat would speed me to the surface. My kids would love to ride on my back when I went under cause I thought I was going under but not really. I just bobbed along the surface. I was their flotation device.
  5. Good luck. And praying for a speedy recovery!!
  6. Aww. I'm sure your daughter is just trying to have the kids have some stability. And she knows you are that for them. My three younger kids have been staying with my mom since the day they got out of school for summer too. Grandma and grandpa don't want them to come home. When I try to pick them up my dad asks when "his" kids r coming home. I am hoping that I have surgery before school starts again.
  7. Sound like you found a good guy. Hold on to him. They are few and far between. I know what you mean about talking. I feel I can say whatever on here too. Everyone is understanding and compassionate.
  8. Unfortunately I don't work for them anymore but I couldn't tell you why plans cover wls. All we serviced was small groups, which mean 1- 50 employees. And none of the ones we serviced covered wls. Our managers made sure to tell us that over and over. I used to feel so bad when someone would call and I had to tell them it was not covered and would not be under any circumstances.
  9. Unfortunately I worked for UHC and they suck. We had to tell sooooo many people that wls was not covered. And it is the choice of the employer to pick if it is covered or not. But if it is not, no appeal or anything else, regardless of issues, it will not b covered. I agree with everyone else, talk to ur employer or see if they have another health plan option. I worked in the small group department, where the employer pretty much picked what they wanted covered and what they didnt and all of the plans I ever handled chose not to cover wls due to the expense.
  10. ]Hi Tammy. I'm waiting for approval from my insurance. It seem like it is taking forever. But it has only been 5 days! Lol! I am having feelings of doubt too, not the same as you but because of the wondering what's going to happen, how I'm gonna handle everything. Kinda not sure how the significant other is going to handle it. We have been together off and on for 15 years. Living together for the last three years. We have 2 daughters together, 12 & 4, and I have a 22 year old and 19 year old from a previous relationship and he has two from previous relationships. My thoughts are that once I lose weight I am gonna leave him, not because I don't love him, I love him with everything I have. But I kinda feel resentment towards him I feel that he wasn't happy with me when I was heavy. He has never said this but I just get this feeling from him.
  11. I was put on a diet from the p. a. Where i can not have more than 1400 calories a day. But I wasn't told I have to lose any amount. I do see where I will have to do a two week pre op diet. That one I will for sure stick to because my friend didnt and she had her liver nicked and had to have a blood transfusion and had to stay in the hospital for an extra two days. That is what I am nervous about. Other than that I am pretty optimistic about the entire procedure. I will let you know the date as soon as I do though.
  12. Thanks for the info about kaiser. I think that is a great idea. I have so many questions. That may be the place for me to go. I have my four hour pre op nutrition class Tuesday at Dameron then I wait to hear from Jennifer about approval and hopefully surgery date.
  13. I'm worried that after I have my surgery I'm still not gonna have energy. I have hardly any right now. I don't wanna do anything. That is mostly why I want the surgery to lose the weight and have more energy to do things with the kids. I'm glad you are having great success with your surgery. Hopefully u will hit your goal and not go too much lower.
  14. Leticia, it seems we have a few things in common, besides the same surgeon. You sound like you are doing quite well. How has everything been going for you health wise since your surgery?
  15. Thank you so much. I will let you know when I am scheduled. So we can meet. I have four kids, just celebrated my oldest birthday yesterday. She is 22 and my youngest is going to be 5 next month. I work for a dr in Lodi and she is all for my surgery. She is the best. She is letting me take time off for all my appointments. I feel so blessed. My friend had surgery with dr corin in feb, she had the sleeve and has already lost over 100 lbs. She is the one that talked me into the surgery. Well I wanted to do it but she told me how easily she got everything started with hers and told me to call to go to the seminar. So I have to thank her for all of it. But I've been thinking about it for years. I'm anxiously waiting for my surgery date now. And a little nervous too I haven't been under 220 since I was 16.
  16. Leticia, I am having it at Dameron also. I'm excited but nervous too. How long ago was yours?
  17. Hi Leticia, Dr Coates is also doing mine, when did u have yours? I'm curious what comes next, I go to my pre op nutrition class on the 16 th and Jennifer put in for auth on Wednesday from my insurance. She said it usually takes 7 days to get auth. Waiting to see where I go next.
  18. Hi California Surgery Buddies, I'm in Stockton, CA. Haven't gotten my surgery date yet. Just got done with all my requirements for Jennifer, my surgery coordinator, to submit to insurance for approval. I have a 4 hour pre op nutrition class on July 16 that I have scheduled, then I'll b waiting to hear from her to see when I'm scheduled for surgery.
  19. Thank you both for ur replies. I'm still kinda nervous about surgery but so excited to have some help getting down to a healthy weight. My 4 year old tells me she wants me only a little chubby not alot chubby. And she wants to go on the rides with me at Disneyland.
  20. That's great to hear. Another reason I can't wait for my surgery date.
  21. Hi Sparklette, I'm happy to hear that mine is sooo bad I'm up twice a night to take something for it. How long after your surgery did it start going away?
  22. Hi Kiwiladydee, you look great. You were beautiful before but I'm sure u feel it more now that your at a healthier weight. How are you doing now? Are you exercising daily or every other day. And what type of diet r u on? Do you do protein shakes? I ask because my best friend had this surgery almost 10 years ago and she has never taken vitamins and luckily never had any issues.
  23. Good luck to you both. I am doing all my pre op stuff. Going in for sleep study consultation on 13th and have to see psychologist and nutritionist before they can submit to insurance. My highest I've ever weighed was 360 when I was pregnant. My weigh in at surgeon was 336. My bmi is 54. Luckily no health issues besides GERD and spine issues. Hoping to have surgery sometime around my birthday, which is July 12. My goal right now is to lose 100lb by my 40th which is next year.
