I have to do the 2 week liver shrink but NO other diet or required weight loss before surgery. The liver shrink isn't totally liquid. It's protein shakes and bars, 3oz of meat, salad, yougurt, unlimited non starchy veges and baked potatoes on my liver shrink and fruit.

My date is September 4th, 2013

I am diabetic and 6.0 is the A1C they prefer and since my blood sugars stay in the 240s (instead of 80-100) my HBA1C is 10.2. So as a precaution for healing she said she is going to send me to ICU the first day then the 2nd night I may go to a regular floor.

My surgery date is September 4th, 2013

I got my Surgery date SEPTEMBER 4th. My Birthday is Sept 1st so yay me............ The Surgeon told me to expect to spend the 1st night in ICU due to my 10.2 A1C.

I'm not sure. I hope this week they will tell me when to come in and schedule it. The insurance company said I'm approved for August 21st but I'm not sure if thats the actual date the surgeon gave them or if thats the insurance coverage date that you can have the surgery after that day or what. The sooner the better. I will keep you posted.

Sorry to hear that. You may have to switch pcp if you can. There are two other ladies on here on another form I have named Memphis. One had surgery by Dr. Wagner 12 weeks ago

I switched my PCP and had the Nurse Practitioner at that office complete mine

for me it was seminar, PCP recommendation letter, 3 months weight ins, Cardiologist approval letter, Psychologist approval letter, Surgeon recommendation, Dietitian or nutritionist visit.

Hello AuntieBev, Are you going to attend any of the support groups. Dr. Wegner had one Thursday it was very informative. The next one is the 16th I believe by Dr. Kelley. Nice to meet someone from the area on the site.

APPROVED!!! I called BCBS and I was given my insurance approval and authorization code today. It was submitted on Tuesday.

I am not sure yet. My paperwork was just submitted Tuesday to the insurance company so I haven't heard anything yet. How are you liking Dr. Woodman?

Congratulations I am so happy for all of you that have gotten your approvals. Don't forget to reward yourself with something none food, like a mani or pedi. I sure plan on doing that for myself as soon as I get my call.

I went to my local library and found 4 books on gastric bypass. One that was pretty decent was weight loss surgery for dummies. two of them were more like blogs in book format with recipes and I forgot the other. Just look on amazon or your library for weight loss surgery books or gastric bypass books.
