How much walking were you doing by week 2 post op?
Everybody's different, so listen to your body. By two weeks out I was walking a mile or more. At 10 days I went to Mall of America and spent the entire day walking around. I had an unbelievably easy recovery though.

How did you feel 10 weeks after surgery?
Tomorrow will be11 weeks for me. I can't imagine anything I would not be able to do that I was able to do before surgery. As a matter of fact, most things I do much better or much more easily now!! Plan your trip, you will have the best time ever!

What did you do a day before surgery?
I worked a half day, just to be busy. Then I scheduled a mani/pedi for the afternoon. That evening was all about the cleansing. They told me it would only take an hour or two, but four hours later I was still running to the bathroom! Was totally worth it!!

Happy Labor Day June RNY Friends, I live in Minnesota. A huge event here is our State Fair. It is second in attendance only to the Texas State Fair, and the Texas Fair is twice as long. Like most fairs, food is a HUGE part of the fair. I LOVE the State Fair. I have not missed one in more than 30 years! I wasn't sure how I could go this year and basically eat nothing. But I did! I had a great time!! I even had a two bites of a dairy malt - my first ice cream since early June! I left having had a really enjoyable day and not feeling deprived. This morning I was rewarded with the scale being down. The fair grounds are big, we were out there for over 8 hours, and I am sure we spent most of that time walking. And the best part is this morning I am not even sore! Nice to know I don't have to completely give up my old life to embrace my new life!- June Post Ops!

I have not had to take anything since surgery, but my clinic cautioned us to really look at the sugar content. Some cough syrups have a huge amount of sugar and can cause dumping. The told us to look for those that say they are safe for diabetics.- June Post Ops!
I have not had to take anything since surgery, but my clinic coutioned- June Post Ops!
- straws
I have been using a straw since shortly after surgery with no problems.- June Post Ops!
I still struggle with wanting ice cream. I really miss having a meal that looks like a well balanced meal, with all of the food groups represented.- June Post Ops!

I agree with this, absolutely!! I was VERY quiet about it before surgery. Now I don't really care who knows. I believe the more support the better! I feel great - nobody will ever convince me that the decision to have RNY was mistake. Given a chance, I think most people are willing to help and support.- How long were you sore, tired, etc?

Happy Birthday!!! For the past several years I have always promised myself that I would weigh less on my next birthday. I bet it feels great to have that come true!!- How long were you sore, tired, etc?
Are you getting all of your Protein and Water in? If you are not, that will cause you to feel worn out. Also not getting you Vitamins in will make you feel worn out. These three things are critical! As for feeling sore, everybody is different, but I was back to work in two weeks and not sore at all, but I was careful. If you are still having pain, I would call your clinic first thing tomorrow. I hope you feel much better soon! RNY 6/25/13; HW 331; SW 291; CW 252; GW 150- June Post Ops!
I am just past 7 weeks - will be 8 weeks on Tuesday. My clinic has a very limited eating plan - at least compared to what I read many are eating here. I am to get between 50 - 60 grams of protein and at least 68 ounces of water. I am told not to pay attention to calories, but I am usually just over 300 a day. I am only allowed 3, 1/4 cup meals a day with no snacks. I split a 30 gram protein shake, half in the morning and half at night. I have found an easy lunch to be a low fat mozzarella string cheese stick. I would recommend contacting your NUT and finding out their recommendations. - June Post Ops!
