Anyone from the New Jersey area?
To Bbdoodle, thanks I just joined a new gym that opened in my town, I don't know how much I'm going to be able to do because of my knees, but I get a free 30minute session with a personal trainer,so I'm sure he/she will be able to set up a plan that will work for me. I never thought I'd say this but, I can not wait to go to the gym !!! Talk to you soon Peace Mary

pepto/anti acids?
Hi Tina, welcome to the site. I'm a big girl too but lost almost half of my weight,so I guess I'm more a medium-sized girl ( I was 386 the day of my surgery &now I'm down to 284lbs), to answer some of your concerns, I started driving about, 6wks after surgery, it took at least another month before I did any kind of shopping, but I also have chronic Rheumatoid arthritis, I actually am going to see an orthopedic surgeon because I need to have both knees replaced. I too had/have a problem with foods in the beginning it was horrible, nothing stayed down,& everything tasted like dirt, it has gotten much better, I know now what will trigger me getting sick, if I eat to fast which is eating normally as far as I'm concerned, but those were the old days, I still struggle with not being able to drink while I'm eating & waiting 30minutes after, it kills me, but I hate puking more than anything. I just joined a gym today because I'm not losing weight as fast as I was &I'm terrified of gaining any weight back. I would love to email you I have no girl friends, just my husband & I have 3 sons only 2 are home though, when I find my cell I'll gladly give you my number so we can text back & forth. I'm going through some insomnia right now, so I'm up all hours of the night, &I check in on this site frequently. There is a way to send private messages on this site but if you want I'll give you my regular e mail address. Ok I've rambled on long enough, I look forward to becoming friends, Peace, Mary

Anyone from the New Jersey area?
I had my surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, my surgeon is Dr Ewing his office is in Paramus. My wt. at surgery was 386lbs, I'm now 284lbs. Just this past week my weight loss has significantly slowed downed, I'm not eating any different, so I've joined a gym here in town hopefully that will kick start it again. Have you experienced anything like that? I'm glad you responded to my post, as you can see I love to talk, I hope you don't mind, where (in general) do you live? I'm not to far from Giants stadium. Talk to you soon.Peace, Mary

Jiggle wiggle
I'm stunned by you message, only because I didn't think anyone else felt the same way I do. I've lost a 100lbs,& just now I can see that I lost weight, not to mention I had to buy a few things because my clothes were hanging off me, my husband & family would tell me they saw the wt loss, but I just saw big old fat me. Now that I did a little shopping, the girl I used to be is waking up, I started wearing lipstick & jewelry again, even my wedding ring fits for the 1st time in 10yrs. I have all the hello juggles too,& I just asked my Dr, when could I get plastic surgery (I still have 140lbs left to loose) he told me 2 YEARS!!!! I wanted to cry, but I know I'll get there & then I'll feel as perfect as I hope the picture in my head is. In the mean time , I'm going to join a gym & buy Spanex lol! Hope you feel better about yourself & if you want to talk I'm here to listen, I could use a female to talk to who understands what I'm going through ( I live with my husband &2 sons) and as you can tell I like to talk, sorry for the long post, be well. Peace Mary

Hmm how much have you lost
my surgery date was January 29 of this year, I was 386 the day of surgery. I'm now 285. I still can't believe it, I haven't been this weight in 15yrs. Just keep to your plan everyone looses differently & if you can exercise it will help it come off faster. Good luck & congratulations your weight loss. Peace Mary

Pain!
I am so sorry you're Dr's just brushed you off. Shame on your gyn,but when you're overweight they think the fat has covered our feelings. I would go back to see your surgeon, he should look closer into this it is NOT normal to have pain of any kind,& if it so bad that you can't sleep, please, please go to the ER. It could be serious,& waiting can make it worse. Don't wait my husband was feeling I'll & in pain that got worse & worse, finally after 5 days I got him to go to the ER& his gallbladder needed to be removed, but he waited so long it actually was gangrene by the time they removed it. I don't want to scare you, but you never know what's going on in side. Sorry I tend to ramble on, please let me know how you make out . Peace Mary

food
I hav the same problem,& still do at times, but if you eat small portion it helps,I used a baby fork & spoon, so I couldn't take big bites. Make sure you eat slowly too, Try the Special K protein drink, it's good & filling it has 10grams protein & 16 sugars so there's no problem with dumping. Also try to eat around the same time &don't drink anything while you eat ,you should wait at least 30 minutes. I hope some of this helps , I'm 5no. Post op lost 100lbs, & I'm still trying to get this eating thing down.( no pun intended)Be well, Peace,Mary

Questions on hospital stay
I had a great experience at my hospital, I had my own room as well, my only problem was even tho I had surgery in January, it was soooo HOT ,my nurses were great & found a fan for me . ( my room became the favorite on the floor with the nurses). My hospital has 24 he visitation, so family could come & go whenever. As far as the catheter it hurts coming out weather you are male or female. And Terry1118 gave great advice, bring your pillow from home , I know I did & kit made a big difference. Hope this eases your mind,& good luck. I've lost 100lbs & I can't explain. how different I feel, not just lighter & being able to fit in places, but. I feel like my old self is coming back, I'm starting to care about myself again. My Aunt said it's so good to see the old Mary back,& it brought me to tears because, I didn't think anyone noticed. Feel free to contact me, if you need to talk. Peace, Mary

Need some exercise ideas for patients with RA
I m in need of some advice this week when I got large-scale I lost no weight at all . I have to admit I was discouraged, even though I've lost 96lbs. This was a stressful week, my mom had open heart surgery & I was eating out of stress , grazing, you know, not hungry but always eating something. So I want to change that bad old habit into a healthier one, like doing some exercise, only I have chronic RA & fibromyalgia, so I need something that will be easy on the joints. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thank & Peace,Mary

16grams,I've had no problems digesting this drink, no dumping syndrome, if that's what you're worried about, although I've only tried the vanilla flavor. Hop this helps. Peace

Are you taking all the vitiams your suppose to? Unfortunately I get sick on them ,so I been to get more protein in my diet, I just tried the Special K protein drinks, they have 20grams of protein per drink bottle. It's kind of pricey $5.98 for a 4 pack. It comes in vannila, strawberry & chocolate. I hope this helps .

Breads...
My Dr's told me to toast the bread, but I still have trouble digesting it, so I eat wheat saltiness in place of bread.
