  1. Joyross, I too am self pay. My insurance didnt pay anything on the banding, nor will it pay if there are complications. That was a concern of mine, however, I am placing my full trust in the Lord and will not allow the fear of complications overtake me.
  2. I don't actually know when it happened, I used to be a gymnast and cheerleader in high school and college, but I absolutely hate to exercise. I hate to sweat, I hate to exert myself. I suffered from plantar faciitis, suffered through cortizone shots and finally had surgery. Now I have a large amount of scar tissue that gave me intense pain for years. To be blunt, I turned that pain over to God and have not had problems for a while. I was banded a little over 2 months ago. Ok, fast forward to now... For the past 3 days, and continuing today and ongoing, I have been working out!!! I have basically talked myself into doing it, it isn't that bad. I think the intense hatred I had for exercise was mostly all in my head. I own an eliptical, a treadmill, mini trampoline, and a big trampoline outside, the pilates ring and band, and the Transfirmer. In the last three days, i have varied the workouts. I will continue to do this until I love it. Eventually, it will work. Thanks for listening.
  3. I really need to get one of these...
  4. THanks for letting me know I am not a freak! I wonder if turkey is easier, it seems to be a softer meat.
  5. I am self pay. Dr. Bagnato in Albany, GA. It was $17,400.00. I dont know what your doc charges, but my cost includes lifetime fills, up to 6 per calendar year.
  6. I would also like to see the plateau breaking diet!
  7. That should read that my hubby would flip - not was flip
  8. I really want a bodybugg, but after being self pay, my husband was flip if i spent several hundred buck on this, and then the monthly fee! I was looking at them on ebay and they are bidding up really fast. Well, actually, I still may buy one, the hubby told me to just not tell him how much i paid for it! Is there anyone out there who isnt happy with the BB? I know that the majority out there love it, just want to know the good and the bad before I shell out another couple hundred bucks.
  9. Well, today I ate a 4 oz grilled chicken breast and it didnt go down too easily. After eating it (obviously not slowly enough) i got the weirdest feeling and then my mouth started watering, and I mean SALIVA WAS POURING OUT OF MY MOUTH! THis happened once before and I slimed food up, but this time no sliming happened. Does this happen to others? Just the St. Bernard-ish watering of the mouth? It felt horrible, and after leaning over the trash can and slobbering like a dog, I felt better. I hope this doesn't mean I have to give up chicken, it is a great source of protein. Thanks for any advice.
  10. Luckily, I don't miss it at all. I never really cared for diet soda a whole lot, only Coke Zero. As long as I can have water or tea, im good.
  11. red1713 how are you doing? I know you are one day post-op, hope all is well.
  12. Hey Buffetphan, sounds like restriction to me. I have had one fill, 5 cc's in a 14 cc band. It really isn't enough though. However, sometimes when I over do it, eating too much, too fast, I get that intense pain and start to panic. Thank goodness it passes after a few minutes. That little reminder will help me to slow it down and take smaller bites.
  13. You are not alone, I am with you in every aspect here. I am sorry I do not have the answer. My next fill is Jan 2.
  14. I have lost a 5-gallon bottle of water or an average human leg Yay!!!
  15. Protein shake coffee South Beach Diet frozen meal (chicken with penne and broccoli) Blue Bunny low carb yogurt 1/2 c. cottage cheese I slice Ezekiel bread and 6 slices of smoked deli thin ham 2 sugar free fudgesicles Total calories:765 Fat: 22 Carbs: 67 Protein: 79 Tracked all on Fitday.com
  16. By the way, if anyone is interested, I am keeping my calories right at, or below 1000, and my protein AT LEAST 60 (some days it goes up to 80!) I do not stress over fat grams too much, because I am being so strict with calories and protein, but fat runs around 20-40. I hope this helps someone.
  17. I could not get back in until the 2nd of January, and they had to double book me to get me that day! It is ok, I am doing a lot better now that I am using Fitday.com to track all of my food intake. I am probably not going to be able to get a fill then either, because I have lost about 9 pounds in the last week. Oh well, I am happy with my rate of loss and am making sure not to set myself up for disappointment if I over eat a little this Christmas. We shall see how it goes.
  18. Thank you for the uplifting post and a very Merry Christmas to you too. Hope you are doing well, sounds like you have the right attitude and with that, you will go far.
  19. Coastalgrl, You and i started at about the same weight, and now weight close to the same, we are kindred spirits! I have found that it has made a 100% difference since I started charting everything I eat on Fitday.com. I am also drinking tons of water and fluids, making sure my protein is 60 or more grams per day, and keeping my calories at or below 1000. Before Fitday, I was eating like crap. I didnt keep track of anything, had no clue how many calories I consumed, how much protein or water. Also, I have a closet full of smaller clothes that I will try on constantly, I am already wearing a lot of clothes that I haven't worn in about 3 years. It is wonderful! Also, JACK IS THE BOMB! (I know, so 90's isnt it?) But read and reread his post, he is a great motivator.
  20. I count calories using Fitday.com and ever since starting, I have been losing. Before counting, I was clueless.
  21. Good to hear from you abckids, was wondering where you were! I am just working this band with diet right now and keeping a food journal through fitday.com. I really have been working hard too. We are going on a cruise in March and I do not want to be the biggest whale around! I go in on December 2 for my next appt but I dont know if i will get a fill because of the weight loss.
  22. It was not implied. Perhaps you have a chip on your shoulder when it comes to the topic of black and white. Let's all act grown up here and read the post and actually respond to what was posted by the previous person, instead of trying to figure out what is implied by others. Thanks.
  23. How dare you not do all of that "inferior" work for free! Sounds like they are a bunch of deadbeats.
  24. I guess I have been busy reading posts about losing weight that I haven't begun to read those weird "Someone isn't supportive, but Im not saying names" posts. Oh well. Merry Christmas everyone!!!
  25. I didn't say MOST blacks speak ebonics.
