  1. I grew up the eldest of four! Siblings are over-rated!! Hahahah...no seriously. We have only one but we do want her to have a sibling. I don't know if that will ever come but I'm open to it. If one hold is all u want; that's kind of a personal choice. I will say I have a cousin who was an only child and he grew up and fathered 9 children! It seems we always want opposite of what we grew up knowing. You'll make the right choice for you. And he won't suffer from being an only child . Peace.
  2. I was really nervous and anxious walking into a room of strangers (I'm such an introvert) but honestly they were accepting, supportive and nonjudgmental! Everyone there was at your place in the journey and it was just super heartwarming to know that there are so many ppl on my side; rooting me on and that want me to succeed! I enjoyed it so much I'm going back next week too :-). I hope your group is well mediated and it doesn't turn into a "patient led bitch fest" as one woman in group called some others she had been too. I hope it's a place u find support and peace and a place where you can succeed.
  3. Something I've started doing that may save you a little money and time is get online and contact any company that makes the protein shake or Bariatric product you want to try and ask them to mail you a sample pack. I've contact Bariatric Advantage, Cytosport who makes Muscle Milk lite and Bell Plantation who makes PB2; all are sending me samples :-).
  4. Truly, not very long. But, I have a lap-band that was ruptured during a fill. So after a failed four year stent w the band I seen a new Bariatric doc and discussed removing the band. He suggested rny. That was in December. I drug my feet for a while and did some research and soul searching. Then seen the doc again in Late march. Paperwork was submitted in April and approved a week later. I had to attend a revision class. A week later after that I had my may 10 & 14 appts. If all goes well, ill have a surgery date by the end of may or early June. So I started attending the support groups last night. I'm seeing the dietician next week as well. Moving right along!
  5. We talked about this in support group last night. We was told that the body is losing weight so fast, hormones and chemicals are all over the place, and that changes the way blood/fluids reach the brain causing dizziness. They assures us it's normal. However, if you're fainting or so dizzy you fall to the ground; that could be something else worth looking into. Hope this helps.
  6. I'm on the May June fence. No surgery date yet but I have my PreOp tests Friday and my physical/ medical clearance on the 14th. So guessing I shouldn't be far out after that. I start group support through the center last night and had a fab time. Trying to stay positive and believe that this is going to work for me. I'm a band to Rny revision. I still have my band in.
  7. I too am a band to rny revision. I don't have a surgery date yet but hopefully soon! I think I'll take my pillow, cell and charger, kindle (just incase) Chapstick seems to be something I see ppl on here say to take all the time, socks with grippers or slide on house shoes for walking in hospital, possibly a pedometer just to track my movements for myself and, for me, pictures of my baby girl and husband. Ill send some prayers out for you! Looking forward to hearing about ur surgery, recovery and seeing u on the losers bench! Peace.
  8. You go get that surgery!! You own this!! Prayers for strength, peace and a surgeon with steady, precise hands. Day 1!!
  9. I started my first group support meeting this evening. There was close to 50 people in various stages of the journey present. About 15 of us were preOp. It was a really cool session and it was nice getting all the different perspectives based on their stage of weight loss surgery. I'm actually looking forward to next week! I have my preOp testing this friday and my medical/physical clearance on the 14th. Hoping to get my surgery date soon! XO
  10. They are the full bottles (25.4 oz) but I figured the ones I don't like Ill pass on to my parents or friends. :-). I got the classic variety pack (vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, Carmel, raspberry and Irish creme ) for $34.95 and free shipping w prime membership. I also got a Summer variety pack (coconut, lime, lemon, orange, raspberry and mango) $54.58 + $18.72 S&H. This pack was much more spendy but it was third party and I just though it would be nice to have for lemon aids, tea, yogurt and snow cones :-). Hope this helps. Good luck!
  11. Thanks every one. I have my list of questions to ask on Friday :-)
  12. You'll know more after your seminar but I was told women with PCOS and diabetes would not be candidates for lap band. Both are already issue with metabolic breakdown of food and the band does nothing to fix that issue. It will be interesting to see what you are told. Good luck tomorrow.
  13. How are you doing?? I have a 2.5 year old daughter and this thought brings me to tears almost everyday. I know how you feel. It's the one think I dread the most in having this surgery. Hope you're doing well on your new journey!
  14. I am a Lap Band to RNY revision. I never did great with my band (lost about 45 lbs or so) but then about 8 months out my band was ruptured during a fill. I was bounced around from doc to doc until I was finally told that because of my Diabetes and PCOS that the band would not even be an option for me anymore. So I'm having the broken device removed and the RNY done! I cant wait!! I wanted the RNY 4 years ago but went with Band bc my husband and mom was terrified and talked me out of it. I wish I had stuck to my guns. Research as much as possible, take into account any other metabolic or physical issues you have, then make the choice thats best for you and STICK TO IT! Don't let anyone talk you out of it! Best of luck!
  15. Fantastic news! Keep us posted on that oreOp diet!

  19. I have a 2.5 year old daughter named Ellianna. We adopted Elli at birth in 2010. I went through a lot with infertility and I haven't looked back since we adopted. We have plans to start the adoption process again in a couple months. This is Ellianna yesterday at the park :-). The love of my life!
