I'm shocked!!! The lapband isn't magic???
BonJosie - Thanks for your message. I think I'm in the same boat and your story has calmed me down a bit. Suddenly I have 0 restriction whereas the last three weeks of being a newbe I couldn't eat much. Now I can eat everything and oh boy am I. I have got to get a fill before I gain back my ten lbs I lost.
-
When do I get 1st fill? Please help me folks!
OMG... I was approved for solids and holy moly my swelling must be gone because the hunger is BACK with a vengance! How long should I wait until my 1st fill. Please help me I'm eating everything but the kitchen sink and even that is starting to look good! Agh!

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
38lbs... holy moly! You're doing great! I can eat about 1/2 of what I used to eat. I'm not on solids yet though. I was able to eat a few ounces at first and now (3 weeks post op) I can eat about 3/4 - 1 cup of food. Is that too much? Am I stretching myself to eat that much? Now I'm worried!
-
Help!! Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who has made this mistake!!
I have pigged out twice now to where I felt like I really overdid it. Okay okay maybe three times. I am wondering the same thing. Did I flip my port? Did I stretch the pouch? Did I eat so much I'm going to pop the bloody band right off? Agh!!! The guilt! This is a huge challenge to change!

starting w/ 60-70lbs to lose
I have more like 80 lb to lose. I have lost about 7.5 since my surgery date of 08/31. I lost a few more on the preop diet.

First Fill
Next week will be three weeks for me. I am actually scared to my first fill. I haven't been able to eat normally for so long that I just want to graduate to solids and stay there for a while.... Anyone else feeling this? On the one hand I want to eat normally for a while and on the other hand my weight loss has stopped so I want to get it going... Hmph!

Newly banded
If it makes anyone feel better I felt like doo doo for the first 3 days. After that things got way better. My swelling must be gone now because I am able to "eat" (drink) a LOT more than I was at first. This is slowing down weight loss (I guess until 1st fill), but it feels nice to have a little more in my tummy. My doc has me on 100% liquids for 3 weeks. I can't wait for next Thurs to eat some real food!

San Diego after getting Banded
I reccomend you stay in Mission Bay. It's a great area for tourist. There's a roller coaster at the beach and a boardwalk to cruise down with a huge variety of people. There are people jogging, skating, etc. There is a place to rent bikes, surf boards, skates and also just a great place for a walk. I have stayed at the Cattamaran which is just across from the Water. It's a bit pricey (about $160) but it's REALLY nice. Catamaran Resort and Spa 3999 Mission Blvd San Diego, CA 92109 800-804-6835 Try going to hotels.com and search by landmark. Select Mission Beach (or maybe it's Mission Bay). They are both the same area. I Also, it's REALLY close to Sea World. The airport is not too far away and the zoo is close by. I think you'll be really happy with this location.

Post Op Diet Journal - Phase 1
Hello everyone! It sounds like we're all off to a good start. Now that things are healing up for me I am getting quite a bit more hungry. I broke down today and ate oatmeal and mashed potatoes. I hear you all talking about Phase I and II but my doctor doesn't have that. I was to start on clear liquids for 3 days min. I did this and then over the next few days could add liquid yogurt and a protein shake. I am supposed to be on liquids until 09/20. How long do you guys have to wait to eat mushies?
-
Cheated post op diet... am I hurting myself?
I woke up today and for the first time since surgery I actually felt hungry. I am supposed to be on all liquids for 3 weeks and then solid food. I hear so many people get a mushies stage and so I figured it would be okay to eat some oatmeal and some mashed potatoes. Am I hurting myself? Anyone else do this? Liquid is just getting SO old!
-
Consumption of full liquids....HELP
I can eat about 6 ounces at a time. At first it was only 2 or 3 oz per meal. I'm supposed to be on all liquids.

Banded 9/5/07 Not Feeling To Good!!
I'm on day 7 and still not in tip top shape. Day 2 and 3 I really questioned whether or not I made a HUGE/EXPENSIVE mistake. I've been back to work as of Day 5. On day 3 as I went to sleeo I never thought I'd wake up and feel a lot better but was suprised when I woke up feeling really good on day 4. Hang in there! For the last two days I've had a pain under my left ribs and it even hurts to breathe! What is that all about? More gas pain?

I need a lil INFO
My doc had a few options. 1. Do Atkins (Strict!) for 3 weeks 2. Drink 2 Protein Shakes a day and have one lean cuisine for dinner. If you get hungry have salads with low cal dressing in between meals. Do this for 1-2 weeks. My doc requires losing 5% of body weight.

One final fat humiliation *I hope*
I always hate when companies I work for hand out shits and I'd have to ask for an XL. So embarresing when you work with skinny minnies! Give yourself a year from being banded and then the only talk about you will be how great you look!

Protein drinks post surgery
I like the Atkins drinks. They're premade and have 15 grams protein per drink and no sugar. The strawberry and chocolate are good. They also have coffee flavors like mocha latte.
-
Did they numb you during surgery?
I wasn't numbed and I woke up and I swear I was still being stitched up. I tried to speak and say "Are you stitching me? It HURTS!" But, I think it can out all muffled because I had something in my mouth preventing me from speaking. I don't know if I had a blindfold on because I couldn't see anything. I just tried to talk for a minute and then next thing I knew I was waking up in my room. Really weird!

Silly post-op question that I forgot to ask..
I wasn't given any instructions on this and we waiting oh... about 4 days. We were just very careful!

So CAL Bandsters
Hi Plumptuous! I am in San Diego and work in Escondido so not far from you. I've been looking for someone closer to me to chat with. How are things progressing for you?
