New Food For Post Ops...
- Carbonated drinks
Hi everyone, I've been staying away from carbonated drinks like soda since surgery 4 months ago. My question is, has anyone had something like a mikes hard lemonade or something similar? My doctor cleared me to drink alcohol but I don't really like anything other this. I know it has a little carbonation (less than soda). Just wondering if I can drink something like that this weekend at a 4th of July party. Thanks!- On a neverending stall
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've been stuck at a loss of 50 lbs for 12 days. I go up a pound, then lose it then back again. I not cheating and I'm exercising and getting all my water and protein. It's not my time of the month. How long do these stalls last? It's so frustrating!- what is up with my tummy?
It could also be a stricture. Maybe you need an endoscopy.- Gallbladder surgery
I had mine out 6 weeks after rny because I was experiencing severe nausea/dry heaving and lower right back pain. The pain with gallbladder surgery was worse than rny. I'm still sore, and I had it done three weeks ago. I think it's different with everyone though. My mom had hers out after rny and she was up and about the next day. Good luck!- Dry heaving
I am constantly dry heaving, especially if I'm around food. I had my gallbladder out because that's what the doctor thought it was, but it's still happening. Anyone else experiencing this?- Stall Already ?!
Don't worry, I've been at a stall for two weeks and I'm only three weeks post op. On the up side, I've lost another whole size in my clothes so at least I know something's happening!!- At a stand still
I haven't lost any weight in 5 days, since the doctor told me to start puréed food. I was only 9 days post op at that point. I also haven't moved my bowels. What do I do?- Bypass patients Beware
Why can't we just take birth control pill? I was on ortho tricyclen lo before gastric bypass. Had to stop a month before surgery by surgeon said I could start it up again after my next period after surgery.- Pain 3 days post op
So I had my bypass Tuesday and came home yesterday. I'm in quite a bit of pain not only my stomach, but my back as well. How long does all this pain last? I'm also a bit light headed and still have much gas that won't pass. Is this normal? Thanks! Gina- Where Yas From?
I'm in Waterbury, CT. Having my surgery march 5th!- Funny question
Has anyone smoked pot since surgery? I haven't had my bypass yet (march 5th). Just wondering. Obviously I'll have to make sure I don't eat as much when I get the munchies lol. I'm more worried about any side effects. My doctor said it should be fine though.- Its shake day!
Call your surgeon an let him know about your blood sugar level. He may allow you to eat some things.- Finally got my date - March 5th
Yay! Finally got my date. It's march 5th. I had to start my low fat diet yesterday. I've actually been sick so haven't even had an appetite, so that's helped. Thanks to everyone on here for all their stories. Looking forward to putting up some of my own! Gina- Non bariatric protein shakes
Has anyone used any non bariatric Protein shakes like Optimum? The bariatric ones are so expensive. I checked the nutrition labels and they are similar to the bariatric ones. Just wondering. Thanks in advance! Gina- 1st day after liquid diet
The doctor told her to use milk. She's already lactose intolerant so she used lactaid.- 1st day after liquid diet
My mom had her surgery one week ago today, so she went from clear liquids to adding a protein shake today. She had horrible diarrhea all day from just one shake. Is this normal? She thinks maybe its because she hasn't had anything heavy in over a week, but I've never heard that before. Thanks!- Oikos yogurt
Thanks everyone, this is all so helpful- Oikos yogurt
Hi everyone. Mom had her bypass Tuesday and is doing great and came home today. In the book she got for all the stages, it says in stage two she can have plain oikos Greek yogurt but there's 6g of sugar in that. We couldn't find a sugar free one. Is it ok to have the regular? Thanks!!- Taking Pills.......ugggh
There is a liquid metformin my doctor just prescribed me. Try that! Good luck- 2 or more years post op
Hi everyone, Just wondering if any of you are 2 or more years post op? I've only heard from people who've recently had the surgery. My gastric bypass is probably going to be early next month. I have just started to get nervous and am really wondering how my life will be years down the road. My mom is having hers on January 8th and I know she has the same nerves about it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!- Fat free dressing
My moms on her 2 week Pre-op low fat diet. We can't find any fat free salad dressing that's low in sugar also. I found a spray dressing that's low fat (1g for 10 sprays). Is that ok to use? Also, are artichokes ok to eat? They weren't on the list. Thanks everyone!- Nsfw- I'm Sorry But I Have To Share This
I'm so glad someone brought this up. I've been wondering about this for a while!- 100 gone!
Congrats! I hope I do as well as you have. My surgery is going to be in late January/early February.- Liquid diet...how'd you do?
Is it unusual that my doctor has my mother and I doing a low fat diet and not a liquid diet two weeks before surgery? We have to drink 3 bariatric advantage shakes a day (can add fruit) and can eat unlimited veggies. I haven't seen anyone else doing this, I only hear about liquid diets. - Carbonated drinks
